Weather, driving, and travel question..Driving through the colorado mountains next week? (I-70)? -

traveling through the colorado region this coming sunday, and need to make it through I-70...whats the status on the road conditions for that time? for the life of me, I cannot find anything. I know there s a little storm going through this friday and saturday, but don t know how big and if there will be road closures. Want it to be a very safe and pleasant drive for my family. :) Any advice is appreciated.

In that area it is really day to day and sometimes hour to hour. You can and should use cotrip.org. It s the DOT site and is the best website for ALL highway conditions in Colorado. Good luck and safe journeys.

See sites below to see that the forecast for the weekend from Denver on over to Grand Junction is for clear weather. See last site for road condition report numbers you may call at that time for current road condition reports.

How many museums are in chicago? -

Whats the Number of museums in chicago

Impressive list, but incomplete. Blues Heaven Foundation is on the premises of Chess Studios where so much great music was recorded by so many legends like Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Buddy Guy, Etta James, the Rolling Stones, Willie Dixon, Johnnie Johnson, Otis Spann...It is not a big museum, but I felt incredible just standing inside the studio. Watch the film presentation about the history of the place. You will learn stuff. I did and I knew more than the average person going in. Go to Chinatown down the block, just the other side of the brown line, for lunch or dinner.

Will travel from washington dc to california.? -

Can i just use my passport if im traveling from washington, dc to california? because right now im processing my green card and i havent got the papers in replacement in renewing my green card/temporary green card. so can i just use my passport? and btw my visa is expired but my passport itself is not.

Yes, a foreign passport can be used by those who do not hold a document issued by the U.S. governent or a U.S. state. U.S. drivers license would also do.http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/a ..

I am moving to Colorado next year and I was wondering...? -

I am kind of scared. I am excited about it but...anyone have snow experience? Driving in it? Living in it? Working in it? I love the cold and the snow but I live in Texas at the moment and I know it will be a change. So is there any advice you can give to prepare me? or put me at ease? or is it something you just have to get used to?Thanks

As Charlie said, driving in fresh snow isn t bad, its the packed icy stuff that s tricky. Since we are used to snow here, everything usually keeps going as usual, our plows do a decent job, most stores/schools/offices stay open unless its a blizzard that is accumulating feet. Most people here love the snow, otherwise they wouldn t be here ;) I would suggest taking a driving course if you are really concerned about it, Master Drive is a great school around here that teaches you how to drive in the elements. As for living here, snow sports are really fun if you are interested in trying a few...skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating...

i live in Colorado. and i love the snow! it can be a bit tricky to drive in the snow sometimes.. but maybe that s cause im only 17 lol. but just make sure you bring warm clothes. and the weather here changes ALOT! one day it could be snowing. the next day its 70 degrees out side. its crazy but it keeps things exciting. i think you will like it alot here in Colorado!

Driving on fresh snow is not bad...driving on packed snow and on ice are the problem.either sign up at a driving school or get a friend with experience to teach you when you get there.

Where in Colorado ? Parts of the state gets snow measured in feet. Metro Denver in inches.

How long does it take to get to Manhattan from Roselle Park, NJ? -

1 hour

What is a Decent area in Pennsylvania to Move to? -

Im coming from NY I want to move to PA. What is a good safe area with cheap rent and jobs and good schools? Thanks!

The Pittsburgh is an affordable area that has a lot of jobs these days, but the Philadelphia area offers most. Philadelphia has a lot of nice suburbs and exurb communities that you may like. I d suggest avoiding Erie, PA and anywhere in the central part of the state like Altoona or Allentown as the economy and general state of those cities is not too good.

What are some of the natural resources of Vermont? -

UH at Manoa Student Housing? -

What s the going rate for the Student Housing in Oahu for UH at Manoa? Is there any place I can find cheaper? I dont mind a studio or 1 bedroom, but i would rather have a roomate in a 2 bedroom. I just need something cheap!!! I really like Waikiki aera, but anywhere near the community colleges for UH Manoa are good too.

There are a number of community colleges in Oahu and if attending a CC you wouldn t be eligible for a apartment at the Univ. of Hawaii, There is Honolulu Community College, Windward CC, Kapiolani CC and Leeward CC, all fall under University of Hawaii but you would have to find student housing on your own if you re not attendingUniversity Of Hawaii Manoa. Or you can contact the student offices atthe CCs and see if you can get places someplace.Waikiki us very expensive to live as a student. A lot of condos there are studios or 2 bedrooms, some two bedrooms but very expensive. You may be better off renting a house w/ a few bedrooms and gather a few room mates instead of living in Waikiki. Honolulu has more apts. and condos than anywhere, if you look all over Honolulu you ll find something fairly cheaper than Waikiki.

Cheap is hard to come by in Hawaii, unless you talk about low-incoming housing. Here are the fees for 2009-2010:http://www.housing.hawaii.edu/apply/fees

Where and how should I plan a road trip for an eighteen year old and two seventeen year olds? -

My friends and I want to take a road trip during our senior year spring break. We live in Illinois, and they are not allowed to go anywhere that is a two day drive, any big tourist attractions, or out of the country, so Canada, driving to California, and Disney World are all no-gos. They are allowed to fly, so we could fly to California. I was wondering what kind of problems we would run into with booking hotels. Our two ideas are flying to California, where my 21 year old brother lives (I m sure we could book a hotel under his name) or drive to South Carolina, where we still run into the lodging problem. Any suggestions for alternate vacation destinations would be helpful too.

Ask your parents.

yellowstone is magnificent in the spring

Move to california to surf and find happiness? -

I live in the Midwest and im 17. I cant imagine anything greater then living in california and just surfing. I need to know how much itd cost to live anywhere near a good surf area where i can experience true surf culture and just live stress free connected with the ocean.

Stress free near the beach... in cali... just surfing all day? Hope daddy has a bank account... or you can try the lottery... good luck!... otherwise... cali = no jobs... expensive living... and stress from WORKING... try it sometime and quit watching so many movies...

Sounds like Santa Cruz would fit what you re looking for... laid back, quirky, kind of stuck in 1969, surfing culture. Thing is, Santa Cruz is a pretty expensive area. So unless you re planning to live with all the homeless guys in a tent by the river, you re going to spend a lot of time working to pay rent. There are a lot students associated with UC Santa Cruz, so you should be able to find some roommates, but figure on spending $600-$1000 per month on rent for your own room. Anywhere by the beach in CA is pricey. In real life, the Pacific Ocean is cold, even in summer, and during the winter you can expect some rainy windy days. I m thinking you should visit before deciding to move because I m not sure your image of California is quite accurate.

I lived there. I surfed.I love the ocean. Im in my blue print for life living by it.But Youre dreaming. The reality is nothing like your dreamI If youre thinking of somewhere like Malibu. Jennifer Anniston was renting a house on the beach for $36,000/ mo Britney Spears lives there. CA has some LARGE money and theyve taken allthe good places. Which leaves the rest of it for us. You need to go on a vacation there, and then decide. Check out the cost of things. Its very expensive. Jobs are very hard to get anywhere now. Lots of homeless people, aseven if you work at an avg job,you cant afford the rent on your own.

Living anywhere near prime surfing conditions is very expensive. If you have the money, try Santa Cruz. They have a wonderful UC Campus, beautiful beaches and forests. A friend says it is the best to feel the connection you desire.http://www.ci.santa-cruz.ca.us/

Pacifica is the best place for you, $1200 for live alone, $600 for share, $150 for food, $300 for gas and insurance, $150 for others

Try Morro Bay if you move or go here, its wonderful usually at times cold but I know you can surf wild waves there! Theres always people surfing there. Oh to get there look for Morro Rock, its a giant rock wwith, it looks like theres faces on it

Autumn Begins WHEN in Mass? -

Any Massachusetts-ans who could tell me when Autumn arrives in your state? When it gets cold and all the leaves start turning? September? October? Or a different month?

Foliage turns in mid-October in most of the state. Earlier in the western part of the state, later is the east. The temperatures are mostly in the 50 s in October. We did have an unpleasant cold snap in October with some evening temperatures in the high 30 s in the Boston area. The past few days have been warm. It was around 70F yesterday and in the 60 s today. By the end of this month it will be cool and stay cool til March with the exception of a few heat waves in the 50 s to 60 s. The coldest month is January with lows in the Boston area to about 0-10F, colder in the western part of the state.

I ve seen the Swamp Maples start turning as early as late August sometimes. Usually the cooling starts to get noticeable in September, especially at night when you can open the windows and shut off the A/C. About the end of September it starts with a tree here, a tree there . Mid to late October is usually peak time with a tendency to start in the north and west, moving to the southeast with the cape being last. Usually with November s arrival is heard the melodious tones of a half a dozen leaf blowers in the neighborhood.

It gets cooler but not really cold. Although there is an occasional cold snap, daytime temperatures in the 50s are not normal until early November. 60s and low 70s more typical for the 45 days before that. Foliage begins turning in MA at the end of September, but is at its peak (the most beautiful being in north-central MA and west of the Connecticut River) from about October 13 to October 21.

Middle of October. Thats when it gets cold and all the leaves are falling from the trees. But in the beginning of October is when the leaves start to change colors and it look really pretty. Although this year before Halloween maybe 2 weeks before it snowed. So that was really weird.
