Rush hour Manhattan - When do the sidewalks clear up in the mornings? -

Bit of a peculiar question, I know traffic in NYC is horrible a lot, but when does the people-traffic clear up in the mornings? My friend and I are considering a trip and with a flexible work schedule, we want to know when the streets are barest people-wise during the days.Does it get really crowded again towards lunch time?

what neighborhood? midtown is always crowded from after dawn until midnight downtown is crowded until 5pm. SoHo is crowded most of the day with shoppers, chinatown is crowded on canal and grand streets most daylight hourslower east side is crowded late at night thursday-sunday

The people traffic really isn t as bad as the commuter traffic. I wouldn t fret too much about it. I live in upper Manhattan, and the people traffic is not heavy at all. However, where most of the sites and sounds are, which is really in lower Manhattan and in Brooklyn and Queens, there is some pretty heavy people traffic -- Times Square, especially. The people traffic, day and night, is heavy. However, on the East Side, it s really not too bad. If you really want to avoid running into people, I would suggest just staying inside from between five and seven, when most people are coming home from work; it s when the most people are our all around the city. All the best ?

I do not live in NYC but I have been there a few times, from what I ve seen the sidewalks don t really clear up - they are always busy. Also - if your trip is not related to Christmas (sightseeing, rockettes) - wait til spring!

NYC is the best place on earth BECAUSE of the people. Dont avoid them embrace them and you and your friend will have a great time. Look up the Hook and Ladder on 3rd and 34th. Its fun and cheap.

Way back when, the Manhattan streets were still packed at 3 a.m. from Greenwich Village to Times Square. In total, there are 20 million in the NY Metro region.

Do casinoes actually pump oxygen int the casinoes to keep poeple awake? -

yes. and its not to keep the people awake but its to keep the air from stagnating and stinking up the place.theres a few fans about the buiilding that suck in air from the outside and bringing it through coolers or heaters, then to the inside.

I believe they pump it in to filter out all the smoke from all those damn smokers in the casinos, I ve also heard they do put in certain odors into the air that make people want to spend money, it was on the History channel, but then again it may just be the lights and sounds from all those slot machines and the fact there are no windows in casinos so people won t be aware of what time it is.

It is absolutely false.Pumping oxygen into a room full of people who have lit cigarettes would be an absolute disaster.

No, this is absolutely not true. Its urban myth only

What are poeple? If you mean people ... no. They are not allowed to do that. They keep it a bit cooler even in the summer to do that.

Complete urban myth. It would be a huge fire hazard. Air circulation is critical (as you can imagine).

No but they do have alot of Oxygen bars in Vegas. Which does give you more energy. I think it is dumb myself.

NO because of smoking could cause fire hazard. They do use scents though

Getting to BAM in Brooklyn? -

I m supposed to go to a film event at BAM in Brooklyn this Saturday. I live in North Jersey (in the mountains, not the city) and it takes about an hour for me to get to NYC. I usually do stuff in Manhattan and just take the bus in to PA, which is relatively cheap and stress free. I m a bad driver, NYC confuses me most of the time, and I don t get the subway lines AT ALL. I ve only been to Brooklyn once with friends, never been to BAM.Can anyone suggest any cheap, stress free ways for me to get to downtown Brooklyn? Is the subway really the best way? Is it that hard to figure out?

Welcome to Brooklyn! Since you are coming to Manhattan relatively cheap and stress free, you should continue this for your trip into Brooklyn. To do so, you have so many easy options.Right at Port Authority, you can catch the C train (blue) local to Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. You want to take the Brooklyn bound train. IT will take about 30min.Outside of Port Authority, walk over to 42nd and Broadway, you can catch the N, R, 2 or 3 train to Atlantic-Pacific St in Brooklyn. Take them Brooklyn-bound, should take 25min. Have a great time in Brooklyn at BAM! Pretty easy and yes subway is the best way! It will cost $2.25 each way. Unless you plan to roam around taking the subway a few more times, it s best just to pay $2.25 each way, instead of the daily pass.

Getting to BAM is very easy by subway. You can drive over the manhattan bridge and it is just about a half mile on the right you can t miss it. you will pay for parking , very little street parking. By subway go to the Atantic Avenue station or Pacific street station Many trains go there 2, 3 4 5 plus many more . It is safe and you should have a good time Go to Juniors for cheesecake afterwards it is only a few blocks away on Flatbush avenue

Don t bother driving into the City, you can take the train instead. You can drive to Secaucus Junction where you can park you car for the entire day for about $10 and take any eastbound NJ Transit train to Penn Station New York. Now, BAM is located at 30 Lafayette Street in Downtown, Brooklyn. Here how s to get from Penn Station to BAM.Take the Brooklyn-bound (southbound) #2 or 3 subway lines (Red Line on the subway map) from Penn Station to Nevins Street. Once at Nevins Street, exit the subway and follow the walking directions at the link below.I hope this information is very helpful.Good luck and happy holidaysNative New Yorker

Is route 66 historical protected? -

Is the route 66 and the area around it histroical protected so some land devloper cant come in and tear it all down to make some sort of mall or something what about the goverment are they protecting it from being purchased and destroyed?

The Department of Transportation has designated parts of the former U.S. Route 66 as a National Scenic Byway, so efforts are made to protect certain aspects of it, specifically the scenery and the historic places that made it what it is.However, in some areas, the road has fallen into disrepair and decay, as it is no longer the major route through that part of the country. Interstate 40 has become the road of choice for its more modern, high-speed routing. In many cases, the people of the towns along the road are the ones keeping together and preserving the historic landmarks along the way.

I have been through route 66 and they seem to still be historical. They are still many route 66 museums along the way. I think they are protected by National Park system because Missouri has a route 66 state park.

Is Key West good place to take boyfriend and he can wear makeup there? -

Hey Guys! A while ago, I got my boyfriend to allow me to put makeup on him. It was all in fun :)Well, he enjoyed it as well as I but we are kinda confined to the house with this. Small town, not too accepting. I d like take him on vacation someplace where he could actually wear it out in the open. No, it s not emo or drag makeup. Before you ask - yes, he is open to wearing it out in a place where we aren t really recognized. He s even willing to go in to get a makeover and all with me - full spa day out.So, Key West a good place or any other ideas? Thanks :)

Sure. Key West would be fine. He would probably be fine at South Beach, too.

Seriously.

What do I do when I print the tickets for the greyhound? -

I m boarding the greyhound soon and I chose to print out the tickets at home. Are the tickets my real tickets or do i have to exchange them for real tickets. Any tips for the greyhound would also be nice. Thank you so much for your time!

I don t understand how you printed out tickets at home. Greyhound does not offer that option. You can ORDER the tickets on line...then they will mail them to you or you can pick them up at the ticket window when you go to the station. According to the site below and to my experience also, you cannot print out the tickets at home. Maybe they offer that option in cetain locations...but not on their national website.

Exchanging them: fine idea
