If you had to survive in the wilderness and live off the land anywhere in the continental U.S., where would u? -
Florida, you can eat tropical fruit and wild chicken and Turkey and drink fresh water. Be careful with the snakes and crocodiles.

A video of my area in Miami? -

Do you like the town you live in? -
Welch, Minnesota. I love it because it s a very small town, with beautiful scenery and fun things to do. Also it s less than a mile from the local ski area, where I work. And just under an hour away from the Twin Cities, where there s a ton of fun things to do.
Napa, and I love it here. Good weather, close to my family, feels like a much smaller city than it is. And the views are beautiful. The downsides are minimal. I always knew if I moved, it would be here. No regrets at all!
salt lake city, i hate it because everyone is so manipulative and stuck up....I m too much of a hippy to survive in an environment like that...
McLean Virginia. I like it cause it s safe and peaceful. But it is way to boring. There is nothing to do here other then go to the mall. :(
I love it. Spokane Washington. The mountains and other scenery are beautiful.
kingwood texas and no becuase its realy boring
Glendale.I would nuke it if I had access to the red button.
It s OK. Except for all the zombies. I m running out of ammo.
No I don t want to. I love my identity
Has anyone been to the Hamilton Manor in Hamilton, NJ? -
I went to a retirement party there two months ago. The food was good as was the service. They did a fantastic job and it is a great place. There are several rooms for different functions and they have bars for guests to go to before the function begins. I will definitely be going back for dinner soon!
Should I move to Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR? -
I have lived in the Vancouver/Portland area for 25 of the last 35 years.Buy in Vancouver. Portland is cooler with more to do, but there are several big advantages to Vancouver.Washington has lower property tax. Vancouver is less expensive to buy a house. You can still drive to Oregon to buy major purchases such as a TV or something (tax free). Washington is a lot healthier (financially) than Oregon, so they have more money for schools, etc.A good place to buy in Vancouver is Hazel Dell (zip code 98665) or Felida- but there are several nice places in Vancouver. I would avoid Kaufman and Orchards.Overall Vancouver is full of people just like you and your husband: families that want a nice neighborhood, with convenient access to the big city life 10 miles away. Vancouver caters to your type. It s friendly, and it s home.Good luck.
If you re a Republican, move to Vancouver. If you re a Democrat, move to Portland.Vancouver definitely has more of a small town feel compared to Portland. The people are much, much more conservative (as a whole) and don t get out as much as Portlanders do. Portland is fun, exciting (although warm and safe) and a very progressive city where you ll always find fun things to do. Good luck with the move!!
Tips on Moving a Family to Seattle/Washington with No Job but 4-5k Saved for Expenses? -
Seattle is a great place to raise little ones and there is tons of mommy groups and support. Just like the other person said you can blow 4-5K very fast. There are not any apartments that work with that situations. Almost all require you have an income 2.5X the rent. You would have to call and work something out. It s basically pay the rent on time and if you don t expect to get evicted. However you can find some apartment complexs that have free rent for a month or more and only require a deposit to move in. For our first apartment in Kent, WA we had 3 month free rent and after that is was $880 for a 2-Bedroom. Our current apartments was a $200 deposit plus move in rent of $725 for a 2-Bedroom. Check out Craig s list to get an idea. I would also try to live outside of Seattle being that rent is around $1,000 for a 2-Bedroom. However West Seattle is a bit cheaper and Beacon Hill sometimes has place to rent for around $800. I live in Kent in the norm for a 2-Bedroom is $750. With the economy it s more difficult to find a job unless you want to work as a cashier or something. Craig s list and Work Source are good places to find jobs. I would start apply for jobs a couple of day prior to moving here or maybe have on on lock before you get here.
housing is expensive here- epecially if you live In the city. first/last/deposit on a One bedroom apt will run you over $2,000 at the very least. expect average rent for 1br at least $800 a monthMost apts willl ask for a credit check. With a new baby you would be lucky to last 2 months without jobs. sorry to tell you this but it s better to know the truth before you get yourselves into a bad situationGood luck
I would not advise moving there without a job waiting for you, not in this economy. I left the Northwest over a year ago because of the high unemployment rate and high cost of living. You could blow threw that 5K pretty fast without money coming in. Check the unemployment rate for Washington and maybe the apartment situation on different web sites before heading out. I wish you luck.
1. Pray for help! :)
Sorry, but I d suggest that under the circumstances you describe, the move won t work out for you. Seattle remains one of the most expensive places to live, and 4-5k won t go far. The job market is very tight here, too. You might consider starting to apply for jobs here, and be willing to do some phone interviewing, and/or even travel for a set of interviews.(Landlords are going to want to see your ability to pay for rent for a year s lease, and without the bank account or the job, you don t have a way to prove that.)www.NWJobs.com
I understand you miss washington, I would too if I moved, but that amount of money would last 2, maybe 3 months if you are lucky or a good budgeter. You can get apartments with little down, we have lived in some that required only $99 down to move in, but have never gotten one without income proof. If you don t have anyone to stay with while you look for work, I suggest waiting til you find a job FIRST! If he truely has good references, he should be able to apply for work while outside the state. However, I am not sure how the prospective companies would handle interviews. I would certainly line something up first, even if it is less than ideal.
I wouldn t move up here unless you had a job waiting. Even a minimum wage job would be good. You can apply for state aid but there is a long waiting list for section 8 and help with rent. You could get WIC and food stamps but you would have to figure out rent. A one bedroom in most places is somewhere around $1,000 a month. So 5k is going to be gone probably within two months because you will have to put down a deposit plus first and last. You could move to a cheaper area like Tacoma or Bremerton or Port Orchard but they aren t the NICEST areas and unemployment is pretty high there also.
Do native Hawaiian people have recognition from the Federal government? -
President Clinton signed the official apology to the Native Hawaiians. Fed acknowledged the overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy was unconstitutional. Unfortunately there was no restitution - Hawaiian activists are still fighting this.
I m not exactly sure what you mean, but there is no recognition of a Hawaiian government like there is of various native American tribes.
What 5 top things would you visit in Vegas? -
1. Free shows on the strip (can easily be done in one evening) - Bellagio Fountains, Mirage Volcanoes, Pirate Show at Treasure Island2. See a show - any show. It s just not a trip to Vegas without a show. Some good ones to consider are Penn Teller, the Cirque shows, Jubilee, Lance Burton, Blue Man Group, Jersey Boys, Phantom...to name a few.3. View from the top of the Stratosphere is amazing. There is a revolving restaurant up there that is really neat, and the lunch prices aren t too bad. Dinner is pricey. But it s fun to see the strip from the top and watch the people on all the crazy rides!4. Maddame Tussaud s Wax Museum is really neat, and there are often Buy One Get One coupons in the coupon books you can get in the taxis. It s located at Venetian.5. Check out the shops at Caesars and Venetian. The malls themselves are neat, and the shops are amazing.
I ve been to Vegas several times. After my first visit I was planning my next trip on the plane ride home! I went with a huge list of things I wanted to see and do, but once you get there you face many cool distractions and time slips away from you! So on the way home I found myself saying OMG we didn t see.....! So here is MY top 5 things that I think you should not leave without seeing!1) Bellagio Fountains~ It s free, easy to get to, and it will take your breath away! I didn t see it until my 3rd trip and now I make it a point to see it every time! It s an attraction that really cannot be fully explained! You just have to see it! It s on a lot of people s bucket list ! And now you can check it off of yours! 2) M M s World/ Coke a Cola World~ I combine these two because they are connected and are somewhat more of the same! Both are multilevel stores with their brands of merchandise. M M s World has a show and walk through factory on the top floor. Get your picture taken with a M M character standing out front! And buy any color M M s you want! Spend $8 and and drink samples of 16 different sodas from around the world at the Coke a Cola store. Now where else can you do that! Drink a coke from an old fashion fountain! Shop you a take home glass! It s fun! Both of these can be done in one afternoon and they are free! Located next to MGM Grand.3) The Las Vegas Sign! I didn t do this until my 3rd trip because it s not walkable from the strip. But it s only a 3 minute taxi ride from MGM Grand. It will cost you around $15 round trip from MGM Grand. It s worth it! It gives you such a high! Have the cab driver take your picture, you ll want it for later! I like going during the day better because I think the pictures turn out better! The wind will blow in your hair, people will honk at you as they drive by and it makes you feel on top of the world! Don t miss it!4) Fremont Street Experience~ A light show like no other! It s a large canopy of t.v. covering three blocks! All the downtown casino s turn off their lights and the light show takes over usually on the top of every hour after dark. It s amazing and it s free! And it screams Vegas! We did this on my first trip and we I go back with Vegas Virgins it is a must do! It s downtown so you are looking at a 10 minute bus ride or 5 minute taxi ride. 5) You have a few choices for # 5! But the idea is to get a birds eye view of the strip! Stratosphere Tower is the choice for most. It will cost around $15 to get up there and around $7 each if you want to ride any of the 3 rides at the top. It takes about 30 minutes to get from the ticket booth, through the line, and up the elevator. But once up there man the view cannot be beat!!! You can see the entire strip and downtown and the mountains and the red rocks! It s amazing during the day and breath taking at night! It is at the end of the strip so things are on a smaller scale. There is an expensive restaurant at the top also, it does a 360 degrees rotation while you dine! The Eiffel Tower at Paris is a close second in my book. There are no rides, but it is dead center on the strip so the view is in your face. And it s right in front of the fountains listed as #1 so kill 2 birds sort of thing and there s more time for slots and blackjack! It s more romantic and less of a wait and somewhat easier to get to since it s in the middle of everything. And it s around the same price, I think it was $12 lat time I was there but 2 for 1 coupons are everywhere! Other options are restaurants or clubs on top of hotels, like Rio or Mandalay Bay. If spending $12 on a beer or $18 on a mixed drink is your thing then those are your places!Have fun and do go off course because you ll see the best things that way! Eat at the buffets! Walk the strip instead of drive! And set a budget for gambling! You ll have a great time!
Five things I also do when in Vegas are:Visit the conservatory at BellagioVisit the Mirage to see the white tigersWatch the fountains at Lake of BellagioEat at Rio s Carnival Buffet and watch the free Masquerade ShowHave prime rib and homemade rootbeer at Ellis Island.
Come to Vegas enjoy the gambling, wild clubs, restaurants and shows. But before you leave you owe it to yourself to see the real Vegas that many visitors and we who live here know and love. Vegas is surrounded by National Parks that are spectacular. Dont miss them. Take a look at the videos at VegasNature.com. Their Visitor s Blog has a lot of info too.

How many hours would it take? -
According to Mapquest, it will take 3 hours and 8 minutes (186.4 miles). If you would like a more specific time, visit mapquest.com and enter the addresses of the two locations.
yes about 3 hours depending on triffic and the rout you take my family travils form cleveland to west ver every year and it takes about 4.5 hours it about and hour drive to canton from cleveland so if you take that hour off it around 3
Check out Mapquest or Yahoo maps so you can be more specific about which part of Canton you re driving to. If it s rush hour, it can easily take an extra 45 minutes to get from the east side of Canton around to the west side.
