Can a toddler ride in a cab with no car seat in Orlando? -

We are going to Orlando for vacation and arent planning on renting a car since we will be in one of Disneys hotels. However to go to the mall etc I was wondering if my 16 month old can ride in a cab with us without a car seat? please help thanks

All small children are required to ride in a car seat, It doesn t matter whether it is a taxi or a car you own.Check with the hotel or the cab company for availability if you don t want to travel with a car seat. Most will be accommodating. After all this is the worlds most popular family tourist destination.

Why would you even need to ask? This is incredibly dangerous. Do you think car crashes care if you are just on vacation? Or only in a cab? Or only making one short trip? Car accidents are the number one killer of children between 1 and 14 years old. Many of these deaths could be prevented by proper car seat use. A quick physics lesson: crash force is roughly equal to weight times speed. If your toddler weighs 20 lbs and you are traveling 30 mph, in an accident, your child will hit whatever s/he comes into contact with first with 600 lbs of force. Be it dashboard, windshield, the back of the seat in front of you....And if you plan on holding on to your toddler, just know that this is physically impossible. No one can hold on to that. S/he WILL come out of your arms. And putting the seatbelt around both of you could be even worse. Assuming for the sake of easy math you weigh 100lbs, you will slam into your belt with 3000 lbs of force, you don t want your child in the way of that. Protect your child, don t go anywhere or take the car seat.

It is illegal and unsafe for a toddler to ride in a car without a car seat. If the cab was in an accident your 16month old would become a projectile thrown around in the cab and would likely be killed. When you call the taxi company request a car with a car seat and they ll be able to bring one.

I does not matter if you own the car or are renting it or if you are just riding in it the toddler must be in a child seat.
