Is it possible to book a room with someones card who is under 18? -

me and my girlfriend are going to be traveling and shes 17 and her parents are putting money on her card for stuff. and i was wondering if both the card holder and person booking the room need to be 18

To answer your question, it depends on the hotel. Most hotels will not allow a minor to stay in a room without a parent or legal guardian present due to liability issues. If something happens that would require medical or other emergency care, there would be no one available to give permission. Some of your seedier places will simply look the other way if some one wants to stay in your room with you. So it comes down to how low rent you are willing to go with your accommodations. As an alternative, I would suggest having her parents book the room ahead of time and leave instructions at the front desk for check-in. This way the hotel has emergency contact information and have indemnified themselves against a lawsuit should her parents want to know why the hotel allowed some one over 21 to book a room with a 17 year old girl. The only youth hostel in town (The Green Tortoise) has an age policy prohibiting people under the age of 18 from staying in the dorm rooms, so that s out as well. If I were you, I d have her parents attempt booking a room there first. It s generally a younger international crowd and is situated smack dab in the middle of downtown Seattle. You won t be where all the nightclubs are located, but you will be between two of the hot spots at Pioneer Square and Belltown.

Are live traps legal in the state of Florida? -

We have about 5 coyote living near our house and they just had babies about a month ago. We have lost one goat to them and want to get this under control. Are live traps legal in Florida?

Call the Animal Control Department in your county and ask them for advice.

Yes

Would the Vegas sign be a good place to wed? -

My Fiance and I are going to get married in Vegas next August. We were wondering if the Vegas sign was a good idea? Or would it be too crowded? Also, we were looking for more outside (or nice inside) places that weren t cheesy. We don t have much money (that s why we decided Vegas instead of going all out at home). I ve done a lot of online research and just can t find the right place. Thanks!!

There are a lot of people taking pictures there. I would think it would be difficult place for a ceremony.

And other mentioned locations are EXTREMELY expensive...I ll just continue searching Report Abuse

No. It is in the divider in the middle of a highway. There is not a lot of room there and likely the first police officer coming by will chase you off, if not take you to the lockup.

Vegas has a drive-thru chapel with an Elvis look-alike officiating the marriage. I can t think of anything more patriotically American than getting married under such circumstances.

The sign is NOT available for weddings. There is limited parking and it would be a major traffic distraction. Check Las Vegas Springs Preserve

Maybe by the Bellagio Fountains

Where can i rent a car in houston tx? I am 18 and i am flying in town! any help would be great? -

Unfortunately, 18 year olds cannot rent cars, you have to be 21. I rent cars for my 18 year old in my name when needed. You might try the local, family owned companies with more luck. Here is one I found but I don t know anything about them;Capps Van Car Rental * (713) 691-0485 * N Shepherd * Houston, TX 77002 map

actually, you CAN rent a car at 18 years of age, but most companies require a $500 deposit.Budget, Dollar, Enterprise and Thrifty rent to drivers over 21, but penalize underage drivers with a daily surcharge. Some even restrict the type of vehicle, making a luxury model or sport utility vehicle off-limits.If you re under 21, your chances of renting from the big companies are just about nil unless you re a military or government employee or happen to be renting a car in New York, the only state that currently requires car-rental companies to rent to drivers 18 and older. A similar law has been proposed in Connecticut, where state legislator Michael Cardin has gone to bat for young people.

Honestly have never seen a rental company rent a car to an 18 year old unless they have their private pilot s license.

I believe you have to 21....... maybe older plus a major credit card !

I think you have to be 21 to rent a car but I am not 100% sure.

What is Seattle like to live in? -

I live with my husband in a remote, cold place where we don t have many friends because they all live too far away and there is nothing to do. The weather is always horrible and I just need to get out and live my life. We are still young and I was wondering would Seattle be a nice place to live in.

I used to live in Seattle (we are moving back summer 10) it was the most beautiful place, and the people were nicer than anywhere else I have been. I grew up in southern California, the weather is not as nice, but the quality of life is much better in Seattle, in my opinion. I have never seen so many parks and natural beauty in one place, the water, the mountains, the fresh air! It just seems they really thought of the residents when they planned this city. Two things to think about, it is gray about 1/2 the year, but they have cumulus clouds, great sunrises and sunsets. Also, it has gotten pretty expensive, so depending on your budget you may want to look farther north or south of the city, there are many pretty and quiet neighborhoods, also they have the areas for the younger crowd, which you might enjoy. Maybe you guys should take a trip out before you decide? Good Luck!

Everyone says Seattle is bad and gloomy because of all the rain, but anyone who s ever lived there knows that it s great anyway! Seattle actually has a lower annual rainfall than most large cities, it just gets it s rainy reputation because it s often overcast, but with mild and pleasant temperatures, and really nice summers! It s a great city to live in, with a great night life, good food, lots of coffee, and good people! It s very nice and I would recommend moving there. One of my favorite neighborhoods is Madrona, where I grew up :-)

Seattle is a very, very expensive place to live, with growing crime rates (especially violent crimes), and it is very difficult to get to know anyone. Google the Seattle Freeze for what I m referring to.Remember, Seattle also has 5-6 months of gray, overcast skies, with almost daily rain for that period.

I was born in Seattle, and it is great. Sure, in the winter it rains a lot, but it has never gotten below ten degrees, and living in the shithole of Minnesota, that sounds nice. If you like coffee, give an independent coffee house a try. You might like it. In the summer the temperature hovers around a beautiful 75 degrees. Try it, you might like it. One warning, the cost of living is high, but guess what? No income tax!

How much of a risk are tornadoes/hurricanes in California/the West Coast? -

I know that the main risk on the west coast is seismic activity, but are there hurricane risks as well?

Not really, they do have high winds storms but it is called a storm nothing more. Tornados have happened in many West Coast areas, including Water ones.

From time to time, we do get tornadoes in the Central Valley. That s the only part of the state that really gets the kind of atmospheric conditions required for tornadoes. On average, the state gets something like 4 tornadoes a year, and they are pretty weak F0 ones - strong enough to smash out some car windows, but not really catastrophic damage.Hurricanes, not so much. The water in the Pacific is much too cold to sustain a hurricane. The cold water is why surfers here have to wear wetsuits. As someone mentioned, there is a rare but possible risk of a tropical storm, but it s not something to really worry about. Now, we do get severe weather. We get some pretty bad winter storms, sometimes warm storms from tropical water, but more often colder storms from more northern water. We sometimes get near hurricane-force winds with these storms that knock out trees and power lines. We get snow storms at high elevations, and sometimes at much lower elevations. In rain storms, we can get flooding. Our summers are dry, and right now our water supplies are perilously low after several years of drought (the storms we have been getting are not enough). In the mountains, the weather is quite different, and they get frequent thunderstorms in the summer.

Earthquakes, mudslides, and wildires are enough.California has felt the effects of tropical storms four times since 1900. A tropical storm made landfall near San Pedro in 1939. The remnants of three storms that were previously hurricanes were felt in the state in 1972, 1976, and 1997. The reason is that the eastern Pacific is much colder than the western Atlantic. Summer water temperatures off San Diego are similar to what one would find off New York at the same time.

hurricane risks , yes, eathquake risks, yes, however on the west coast there are mountains and tornados seldom occur because the mountains interfere with the wind pattern.

very very low even hurricanes

Do you think florida is hell? -

lived in central florida for 7 years of my life, luckly i made it out alive, but feel aslthough my time and sense of peace and loving life have been distorted and manipulated by the endless days and nights in honest anguish and despair. Never once in 7 horrible years did i have just one day of peace. The people are either old and dillusional, redneck, simple minded and ignorant, psychotic manic depressives, or/and fake or followers. Going to high school and community college i still never had one conversation that i felt enlightened or informed by something honest, meaningful, or true. There is absolutely nowhere to go unless you drive long distances and have a large bank account. There is no mom and pop stores or very few, every store or restaurant is a chain preety much. The landscape is downright flat and ugly. Never really got to see the ocean being in the middle of the state but wow is there nothing of natural beauty there. All the trees are small and forests are swamplike. You cant go swimming there because of alligators and bacteria. Its too hot and sticky out 10 out of 12 months out of there year. When ever i went out for a nature day which i do in new england i felt so uninspired and dissapointed. Everything is cookie cuter like the roads, subdivisions, and the shopping centers, so fake. no beautiful landscapes, no beautiful architechture, no independent people, no sense of community or current culture, just a feeling everyday that god made a land that is impossible to connect to and people that are fake, uninteresting, and hiding in secret lives in which they dream only in self gratification and lies. It has changed who I am, i can never be the same person, i will always hate florida, its the opposite of all i find beautiful, most of the women have ugly personalities, no sense of grace or care, have no interesting hobbies, or dumb and unattractive appearances. I question if i lost my soul by being forced to live in Florida because it has made everything seem empty to me now. Why god would create such people and land i will not ever understand. From the people, culture places, climate, and environment, FLORIDA IS MY HELL and that is my truth. did i metion that no one likes good rock music or insightful movies or books? KILL FLORIDA NOW!

such rage. i love it.I lived in florida for a period in 2008, Boca Raton to be precise, and it was a very interesting experience. I like your comment about the land being flat, it didnt occur to me how flat it was till i saw a hill, and found myself staring at it wondering why i was staring at it. Turns out it was a landfill for garbage. Florida people i found to be very strange, many were addicted to something. There was lots of shallowness, pretentiousness and behind the scenes bitchyness. To be fair there was a culture clash with me being Australian and straight forward, it took me a while to see that they are definitely not. Luckily i did meet some awesome people who very nice and took the time to help my sanity out.But all in all, Florida is a bit of a cesspool. I feel for you having lived there for 7 years.

You re asking me, a resident of North Dakota, facing the onset of winter, to hate a state where people can walk outdoors in the middle of January and not face the prospect of freezing to death? Ain t gonna happen...

Wow, I kinda pity you. Yeah, FL is not heaven by any means, but if you pulled your head out of your butt long enough to realize that no where is perfect, you d find maybe it isn t so horrible after all. I ve lived here 26 years and the only people who seem to hate it are the ones who haven t lived here very long. So when I see someone like yourself who obviously couldn t live your Emo life in peace in FL, I m glad to hear you have left and gone back to your wonderful New England. We re not that bad down here, but you ve got to be able to realize that you re probably not as insightful and deep as you think you are. Take your antidepressants and get on with your life.

Whats the fastest way of going to USA? -

Is it possible to visit someone in Florida and stay there for 1-2 months? and what s the fastest and easiest way in order for your visa to be approved?

It would depend on the conditions of your visa as to how long you could stay. I know that for Australian passport holders the answer would be yes you could stay that long, but rules differ for different nationalities. If you hold a Phillipines passport you would require a visa applying like the other person said. You would probably need to have four or five thousand dollars worth of available funds (when asked in the US) for the passport control staff to let you through without going out the back to an interview room. Even with a visa when you turn up you can be denied entry if you do not seem like a tourist so you d want to at least tell them you have easily enough to survive the length of time you want to be there. You d also want to have a return ticket (or proof of onward travel) as they will most likely check that and usually that is a requirement to be granted visas for most countries.

Thre is only one way to get a visa to the U.S. from the Philippines...see site below and follow directions there to apply for a B-2 tourist visa through the American embassy.

Is Richmond, CA a gang hot spot? -

I m wanting to move down to California next year and I want to know if Richmond (North of Berkeley) is a gang hot spot like Oakland? Or if I ll be just fine?

I can t turn on the news without seeing a story on another shooting in Richmond. It may or may not be gang-related, but it seems to be a violent area. My cousin lives in Berkeley, and she s had no problems, if that s an option for you.
