Best and worst areas to live in Phoenix? -

I am looking to move to phoenix. I see several smaller towns like Chandler, Mesa, Apache Junction, Good year, Sun City, Cave Creek, Queen Creek and etc. Which towns are good as far as crime, standard of living and etc and which are bad (worse). I know Phoenix itself probably is like Los Angeles and has a lot of issues, but some of the suburbs are probably ok. I just am not sure where to start looking and where to avoid. I have kids to deal with, so I need to take into consideration school districts as well. All answers will help me make up my mind.

Avoid South Phoenix, Maryvale, Guadalupe, and what s called The Square in North Phoenix. The Square is bordered by Union Hills, 32nd St, Cave Creek, and Greenway Road (Not Pkwy). Otherwise you should do alright. Best areas are North Phoenix, Ahwatukee, Scottsdale, and many other areas.

well i live in phoenix and i think its a GREAT place i love it!!!!!!and there is a school called Cactus View Elementry School and it is a pretty good school!but now they have recess first and lunch last, for half-days there food is ALWAYS the same!!! it s a burito or pizza, and that is a school for kindergarten through 6th gradeand they have a middle school in phoenix it called Vista Verda, i dont know about that school!and there is a school called..........North Canyon High School and that place is sooooooooooooooooooo huge and beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!where i entered.....it was all tile and ther was CHANDELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was sooooooooooooooooo cool, amazing,AWSOME, pretty ETC.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and there theater.......there stage was HUGE and there seats to sit in are JUST like a movie theater seat!!!!

Worst: South Phoenix, Maryvale, a good portion of Mesa, Apache Junction, GlendaleBest: Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, North/Northwest Phoenix, Ahwatukee, Gilbert, Chandler

I live in the Maryvale area and you don t want to come here.Illegal immigration is a big problem in AZ, especially Phoenix, and most people you talk to don t even know English. Also, crime is a problem, and many times I go to bed at night hearing a helicopter above looking for someone, or hear random sounds that sound like a shotgun firing. Not a great place to live. The church I go to is by Cave Creek, and it seems like a good area!A family friend lives in that area, and I had to live with them for a few months and it felt good going to bed and not worrying if someone will steal your car or break in.Keep in mind how far away your house is from stores and things, because if your kid s ask you to take them somewhere, you don t want to drive an hour to find the nearest Walmart.Good luck!

Whatever you do, don t listen to idiots like brianna! We might have a few illegals here, but they are the ones keeping Phoenix s landscaping look beautiful and clean. If they don t do it, who will?It depends on how you like to live. North Phoenix can be nice, but it s also Meth head city! Just because you have more minorities in one area like South Phoenix or West Phoenix and Mesa doesn t mean they are bad areas. North Phoenix has more whites, but at the same time more meth heads.Peoria and North Glendale are nice areas that are not congested like the East Valley (Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe and Mesa).

Brie made a good point about Maryvale. It s not a very good area. Don t consider living there.Sun City is more retirees, so scratch that off your list as well. Now the real driver behind this question is where will you be working at? If you work downtown or on the east side of Phoenix then Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert would be good. If your job puts you more on the western side I think Goodyear would be great. If you work in the far northern area then Cave Creek would be a nice selection.Phoenix is layed out like a giant grid. I would not live east of Hwy. 101 near Interstate-10 on the west side. Moving north of the I-10 the areas of Peoria and Northern Glendale would be good.If education is a driving factor then consider Cave Creek and Scottsdale. They are ranked 6th and 7th in the state. If you want land with your property at an affordable price look into the far west valley in the Town of Buckeye. That s where I live. Buckeye is adjacent to Goodyear, so we have all the stores and services available to us without having to fight the heavy Phoenix traffic. The traffic in Phoenix can sometimes be comparable to LA or San Diego. If you have any more questions feel free to email me.
