I am going to Las Vegas, but is there anything that I must know before I go? I am driving there, so any laws in particular that I must pay special attention to? How different is it compared to California in terms of driving?
Like has been said, if you drive just like you do in California (assuming you drive lawfully in California) you will be fine in Las Vegas also. You cannot bring anything illegal to Las Vegas. One item worth noting is that Nevada is a ZERO TOLERANCE state for pot. If you get caught with ONE SEED in the carpet in your car, technically you can get tossed in the slammer for it. THAT is a huge difference between Nevada and California...and one that you would be wise to consider. Other than that, it s pretty much like traveling to any other state in the union. The laws are not significantly different enough to be concerned about.
Basic RuleNevada has a Basic Rule for driving at reasonable and proper speeds. This means that in addition to any posted speed limits, you must consider the amount and type of traffic, weather, road conditions and other factors. The proper speed may be considerably less than the posted limit.Slow Down in School Zones! The Look Out Kids About Coalition urges you to be courteous and drive safely in and around schools. Speed limits range from 15 miles-per-hour to 25 miles-per-hour. School zone times vary depending on schools. Look for the signs posted near the schools.School BusesDrivers are required to stop for school buses when students are boarding and departing and when bus is displaying its flashing red lights. On divided highways, traffic moving in the opposite direction does not have to stop. On all other roads, traffic in both directions must stop.Seat BeltsBuckle Up! Nevada law requires seat belt use by all occupants in a vehicle. Children under age 6 who weigh less than 60 pounds must be in an approved child restraint system that properly installed.Right on RedYou are allowed to turn right on a red light after coming to a full stop, unless otherwise posted. You must be in the extreme right-hand lane and yield to pedestrians and all traffic moving through the intersection.U-TurnsU-turns are generally allowed if they can be completed safely. In business areas, you must be at an intersection or on a divided highway where an appropriate opening exists. U-turns are not allowed where prohibited by a traffic sign or signal, or if there is less than 500 feet visibility in both directions.PedestriansVehicles are required to yield to pedestrians in unmarked crossing areas at intersections, at crosswalks where there are no traffic signals and at marked and signaled crosswalks.
It s mostly the same. Drive just like you would in California, and you ll be fine.
The driving laws are the same except for the required earphone for a cell. You cannot bring open containers of alcohol, street drugs, or weapons
As neighboring states their traffic laws are basically identical.
They are the same, just look out for the speed signs.
