New York City? 10 points best answer? -

I been googling New york and stuff and ive gotten hell confused...Is washignton park (central NY, Albany Metro) in Manhattan? Cos its near Maddison Ave but Central park is near Maddison Ave and ive looked on all maps and they dont seem to join up?Is Central NY, Albany Metro, like in the middle of the city itself?Im from Autralia so its all real confusing. :S

The maps do not join up because they are maps of different cities. In the U.S., there are many places with the same names as each other. This is especially true of places named for Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Kennedy, who were especially famous Presidents of the U.S.Manhattan is in New York City. Albany and New York City are over 100 miles apart. They each have a Madison Avenue and they each have a Washington Park. Neither Washington Park is in Greenwich Village. The park in Greenwich Village is Washington Square Park.Albany and Manhattan each have a Madison Avenue. These are not the same Madison Avenue. These are two different Madison Avenues.Washington Park in Albany is near the Madison Avenue that is in Albany. This Washington Park and this Madison Avenue are not near Manhattan.Central Park in Manhattan is near the Madison Avenue that is in Manhattan. The park that is a landmark in the Manhattan neighborhood of Greenwich Village is Washington Square Park, not Washington Park. The park in New York City that is called Washington Park is in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene.

Washington Park is NOT in Fort Greene! That is Fort Greene Park. Washington Park was the original name a park in the neighborhood of Park Slope-not far from Fort Greene. This park had been renamed J.J. Byrne Park in recent years, but just last year was re-named Washington Park. That s it s name now. Report Abuse

Albany is over 100 miles north of New York City. Central New York usually refers to the center of the State of New York, which is about 100-150 west of NYC and 60-100 miles north of it, e.g. the Finger Lakes Region. Central New York thus is not the same as Central Park . Central Park is a large park in the middle of the Manhattan borough of New York City. Madison Avenue runs a block east of its north-south boundary. You re probably also confusinig Washington Park , a short street in Brooklyn and Washington Square Park a park (and section) in lower Manhattan, in the area called Greenwich Village .The attached map link may help you visualize what I m talking about.

First of all, there are many, many places named Washington in the U.S. Washington was our first president and as a result, there are several parks named Washington. Second of all, there is a difference between the State of NY and the City of NY (aka New York City - NYC.) New York City is IN New York State. The state is the larger entity - it is one of the 50 states in the United States of America. Like Queensland is a province of Australia.New York City is a city within New York State. It is the biggest city in New York State, as well as the biggest city in the United States. Central Park is a very large park in New York City (in the borough of Manhattan.) There is a smaller (but very significant) park in NYC called Washington Square Park, in a part of Manhattan called Greenwich Village. But even in New York City, there is another park named for George Washington! I live in Brooklyn (which is also part of New York City) and across the street from my house is Washington Park! However, it sounds like the Washington Park you mean is in another city altogether called Albany, NY. Albany is the capital city of New York State, but it is far smaller than New York City, and it is about 2 hours away from New York City. Although the State government is there, it s a prettty sleepy town over all. I hope I ve answered your question in a way that is understandable!

Washington Square Park is located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan. This is also the neighborhood where New York University is located. The park is small, therefore it does not shop on most NYC maps.Good luckNative New Yorker

OK, it seems that there s a Washington park in Albany, right near Madison ave.Albany is a few hours drive from NYC.

What do you think about living in Arizona? -

Love it! There is a wealth of entertainment available. The more money you have, the more fun you have. Phoenix attracts all the top known entertainers and musicals. We have our own professional sports teams. Winters are heaven - summers are well - hot! We re the 5th largest city in the US and have the traffic that goes with that large a population, but our numerous freeways make it easy to get around the expansive geographic area.

It s always sunny here, that s why I love it. There s also lots of beautiful desert landscapes, such as the Sonoran Desert. It s always cheaper to live in Arizona than other places, like LA, Seattle, New York City, etc. And a lot of the buildings and roads are newer and nicer than in other U.S. cities.

Still nice but getting way to many anti-gun liberals from CA moving in. Soon they will ruin AZ like they did CA.

What large American cities population? -

What large cities have gone down in population over the years instead of up?

New Orleans had by far the largest population loss among all cities with populations of at least 100,000 people. The city lost slightly more than half of its pre-Hurricane Katrina population. It fell from 452,170 on 1 July 2005, to 223,388 one year later a loss of 50.6 per cent.Detroit 2006: 871,121 2004: 896,919 2000: 947,910Baltimore 2006: 631,366 2004: 641,943 2000: 648,481Milwaukee 2006: 573,358 2004: 581,281 2000: 596,131

For people who live in oregon!? -

How many days out of they year would you say it rained in Eugene, and Corvallis, Oregon??

It seriously rains nine months out of the year, with little sun breaks here and there. mid-June to mid-September can be fairly hot and dry, but the rest of the year (let s just call it the rainy season ) is a non-stop sog-fest.

I live in Salem, but the Eugene/Corvallis tends to get more weather issues than us. I would say about 225. It does rain at times in the summer - and it does get hot on the off summer months - but generally, it pretty rainy. In October and February we are more likely to see cold clear days. In late January/early February, we are likely to see snow or ice.

It depends on the year. Many years it seems like hundreds. Other years we can go months without rain. Last summer was actually pretty dry, but we just finished about two months straight of rain.

It doesnt usually rain in the summer months so take 120 days off of 365 leaves about 245. Of course it does not rain every day in those 245 take off another 45 which leaves about 200 days of rain.

I believe last year was more dry than usual. And summer is extremely so. So maybe 150 days. Out of 365. Total estimate.

About 350

probably about 250

idk a lot i mean a lot to! like almost the whole time take it from somebody that s lived there all there life.

Its just one wet armpit! This place is dismal as I ve lived here for over 30 years. No wonder they call us the Ducks!

Advice...Road trip taking in Vegas and the Grand canyon and then driving back to San Francisco.? -

My husband and I are planning a week long vacation over the Christmas. Here s what we had in mind. Flying from San Francisco to Vegas and then renting a car and driving to the grand canyon and staying around the canyon for a few nights. Taking in a few day hikes if the weather permits, and driving back to San Francisco through Death Valley. How would we cut down on driving time? Would it make sense to fly maybe to Arizona, rent a car there and drive to the canyon, then to Vegas and then back to San Fran? Any suggestions?

Just walk the whole way. Americans need to walk more and it reduces emissions. Walking is the responsible, safe and romantic way to go.

Did you realize that the Canyon on AZ side will be very cold and if you don t have reservation you could be SOL. It is a long day drive from Vegas. You can fly/copter to Canyon for the day. Not that much to do this time of year than a day trip. Also there are day bus tours to Canyon from Strip.

If you had a month vacation? Your plan would be fun! But for only a week? My advise is to fly to Vegas then take a helecopter to the Grand Canyon. But you don t want to spend the whole week driving in the desert? Enjoy Vegas! L.A. is only 45 minutes away. Have fun whatever you decide to do! A week goes by quick. Red Rock canyon is closer to see? Pretty nice too. Especially at sunset!

HmmmYou want to take a one way SFO LAS flight and then do a return -to -a -different -location car rental ? That is going to be super expensiveYour best bet is to get two round trips from SFO to LAS and then renting a big CAR with a V-6 and doing this loop drive for a weekPop this routing into mapquest or whatever.LAS GCN Cameron AZ Mexican Hat UT Cortez CO Telluride CO La Salle Junction UT Moab UT Hanksville UT Torrey UT Escalante UT Mount Carmel Junction UT LAS and then do DV as a day trip from LASJust so you know :Below the Rim day trips in GCNP can be physically challenging b/c in the first hour or so you will lose between 1200-1500 vertical feet which you will then have to get back on the way out .,If the weather turns to junk then the uphill hike can really get your attentionAll trails tend to be snowy and icy on the upper stretches and some trails like the Grandview down to Horseshoe Mesa can be down right dangerous in winter Leave this Q open and I ll add some details if need be....Lemme know

What was the temperature in austin tx lastnight? -

My thermometer here in Travis Heights recorded a low of 37 degrees. You might be able to find the answer to these types of questions at Weather Underground (wunderground.com) or the Austin American Statesman s weather section (they have a guy named Bob Rose who does a blog that has day by day breakdowns).

Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

What is there to do in Denver for New Years Eve? -

I m looking for something that isn t all about clubbing all night...something low key, romantic and casual. Fireworks maybe? Anything around the 16th St. Mall? Any suggestions would be great!

We have taken the light rail downtown, found a nice restaurant to eat at then watched the fireworks on the 16th street mall, that s always nice. It was freezing the year we went, so check the weather and dress appropriately!!
