Where can we stay at Florida Keys, with cheap but nice accommodations? Will be staying there from 12/26- 12/? -

It is our first time to visit Florida Keys. We want to enjoy the beach but we re @ strict/cheap budget. We re planning to stay there from 12/26-12/29. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

Wow, you need to get to work immediately. Most hotels are already booked and I doubt there s anything for less than $150 or $200 during that week. You ll need to look hard, maybe find a Mom Pop hotel somewhere. The Florida Keys sit on top of hard coral rock and are not known for beautiful public beaches. There s one real nice public beach located at Bahia Honda State Park, between Key West and Marathon. It s a great beach, but facilities are very limited. The other public beaches are incredibly small and more than likely, man-made. Many of the big resorts in the keys have nice little private beaches, but their very pricey.Maybe consider staying close to Miami and relax at a GREAT beach in Miami Beach. Then to get a taste of the Keys, consider taking a day-trip and drive down to Key Largo. Inside John Pennekamp State Park, they offer an outstanding snorkel boat tour that will take you out to the reefs. They take good care of first-timers. The reefs are spectacular and the fish will knock you out. It s around $100, including a wet suit, but it s well-worth it to see the tropical stuff. http://www.pennekamppark.com/

There is no such thing as cheap in the keys in a prime holiday week. The best you can do at this point is try to find the cheapest of what is available... and you may be too late for that. When you get there you will see that space is limited it doesn t take many people for all rooms to be sold out. My advice, don t wait, start searching for a place now, use a travel search engine to see what is available in your price range especially if you want to be in Key West. l wish you had said where in the keys you wanted to be, it would have narrowed things down a bit. The 2 motels in Key West that l like are already booked for the dates you want.p.s. Unless it is man-made, they don t have those nice sandy beaches that most people want. Beaches in the keys are coral reef.

If you are an OBGYN, where would some be some good places to live in California? -

As some of you may or may not know, my name is Caitlyn...called Catie or Cates or Caitlyn. I am just wondering where some good places to live? I would say close to Gilroy and Santa Cruz, California. Approximately, like an hour and a half away, tops

An hour and a half away from Gilroy and Santa Cruz is actually a pretty broad area, covering the Monterey Bay, San Benito County, the South Bay (of the San Francisco Bay), and parts of the central valley around Los Banos. Are you saying you want to live somewhere there, or that it is your idea of a good place for an OBGYN to live?As an OBGYN you could pretty much live almost anywhere you want, because it is a job that is needed anywhere there are women. You might have trouble in very low population, remote areas in the mountains. If I could live anywhere in CA, I would choose either Pacific Grove/Carmel/ that general area, or somewhere in Sonoma County. But that s me - you would have to think about what specifically you are looking for in a hometown.

Where are abandon places in south east Houston? -

me and my friends are doing a project for our art class and we want to take pictures of abandon places please help locate some

On the Internet. In the Dallas News, Houston City Major all upset about some teens making videos of abandoned buildings. They are being torn down as I write. Doubt your art class teacher would assign you such a project. Maybe teacher is referring in general terms. Could take pictures of houses in foreclosure. Pictures of cemeteries that lack care. Could take pictures of shelters where abandoned people and animals go. There is enough fodder on the Internet to inspire any artist. Did find an artist in the area requested. You could go there. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ent/

You ll have to get in a car and drive around to find them. Wish I could help, but I would have to drive around myself. Since it s your project, you should probably be the one to do this. Good luck! It sounds like a neat art project. Hope it turns out well.

Yeah, this would involve you needing to drive. It would be hard to take photos in a bus or something where you can t stop when you need too.

Are there any nice places to visit near chicago with a 3months old baby ? -

Please suggest places near chicago other than usual places like St.Louis,Milwauekee, Detroit... I want a place where we could relax for 2-3 days

The only way to really relax with a three month old baby is to ask Grandma to babysit while you and hubby go away - anywhere.

I don t think Detroit should be a good idea lol try Minneapolis!!! It s beautiful!!!!! And its only a 1hr flight from Chicago. There s plenty of nice places to just relax and they have the largest mall in the world, The Mall of America which is 5 min away from the Minneapolis/ St Paul Airport, the hotels r very cheap, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Bloomington which is 10 min away from the airport and 15 min away walking distance from the mall and we paid only 180 for the whole weekend (thurs, fri, sat nights) in a room with 2 queen size beds. besides the light rail will take you anywhere from the mall all the way to Downtown Minneapolis, theres also Minnehaha Park and the light rail stops there, its abeautiful park next to the Mississippi river.... and the weather should be the same as in Chicago right now...if not come to San Francisco!!!! lol Greetings from Sacramento CA

I would consider a road tip to Madison, WI - its a young and hopping place.

west michigan, grand rapids, grand haven, kalamazoo has a lot of cools stuff too

If it is 5pm in phx, AZ what time would it be in portland, Oregon? -

4pm I believe?

From first Sunday in November to second Sunday in March: the entire region of Arizona is UTC-7, so it is one hour ahead of Portland (which is UTC-8 during PST). 5 pm in Phoenix occurs at the same time as 4 pm in Portland. The rest of the year, the non-Indian reservation areas remain UTC-7, but the Pacific Time Zone switches from UTC-8 to UTC-7 (aka PDT), so 5 pm in Phoenix is 5 pm in Portland.Curiously, the Indian reservationsespecially Navajo Nationswitch to UTC-6 for DST.

That would depend on whether it is daylight savings time or not. Since Arizone does have daylight savings time. (the last I heard anyhow) it would be the same time during daylight savings time and an hour early on regular time. Which is what we are in now.

oregon is an hour behind arizona except during daylight savings time.during daylight savings time its the same :)

4pm

It would be time to leave this wet armpit!
