Can anyone tell me the swatching policies of several fabric stores in Manhattans Fashion District? -

I m a design student trying to create several womenswear lines and I m in desperate need of swatches for each of them. I m aware of a few places that have strict swatching hours early Saturday morning, which I used to go to, but currently, I am unable to go at that time. Some places also enforce a limit on the number of swatches, which is not conducive to my situation. I understand that these stores are running businesses and swatching is purely done as a courtesy, but swatches are a required and essential part of any design curriculum project. Still, a large percentage of the people that contribute to the stores business were design students at one point, right? It wouldn t hurt to be a little more accommodating to their future client base... Just a thought. The commute to the Fashion District is about 45 minutes for me, so I want to have an ultimate destination rather than risk going and being turned down everywhere. Is there anywhere that offers swatches on a more lenient basis, preferably free of charge? Bonus if they have an extensive collection of fabrics.

Why don t you call up the stores you used to frequent and ask them? Or ask someone in your classes if they ve had any luck doing this?

I live in los angeles and want to move to san jose. any advice? -

I am looking to possibly move over the summer. What can u expect to pay for an average one bedroom apartment? What are pretty safe neighborhoods. I want plan to attend San Jose State, how is that area? Any advice at all is appreciated. Thank you so much!

i can really help you out, actually. my family moved to calif(san jose) from indiana back in 78 . lived there till 1989,and ended up moving back to indiana because it was just getting expensive there. san jose is a hip and happening city. probably the coolest place to live. south san jose is where silicon valley is,and it is pretty upscale. if you want more middle class, and still pretty decent and liveable, try looking into east san jose. the blossom hill road strip. san jose state university is smack dab right in the heart of down town san jose(the city),so you might wanna concider that too.

one bed room $800-$1200 not cheap

Im planning a suprise Alaskan holiday for my parents. but i need help!!? -

Its both my parents 50th birthdays next year, and since its a bit of a milestone i want to do something special for them. They have both always wanted to go to alaska, I thought about just booking them in for a fortnight in a nice hotel, but they ll want to explore - especially my dad -. I also thought about booking a camper van, but i cant imagine 2 weeks stuck in a camper would be that appealing - especially for my mum - . Maybe a cruise for a week and a camper for the other week? but where should i get the cruise from, and where will it drop off...blah blah blah, basically i think i need to know where are the best places to go, what should they see, this is a once in a lifetime trip and i want to make it as special as possible but also try to keep it with in a reasonable budget. and if anyone can recommend any good cruise companies/ hotels / camper van or car rental companies, i would really appreciate your help.thanks

It s hard to make a recommendation without more information about their likes/dislikes and your budget. But as somebody who has lived in Alaska for over 10 years and brought many friends and family here to see it too, I would recommend a combined approach.First, a cruise from Seattle up the inside passage including Glacier Bay. This will show them the beauty of SE Alaska. Best months are June and July. I would buy them the basic passage and then let them use their own funds to choose and pay for their shore excursions along the cruise. Best excursion is probably the Yukon/Whitepass rail trip out of Skagway. Most cruises are a loop that return them back to Seattle. Choose one that terminates as close to Anchorage as possible instead of looping back to Seattle. Secondly, let them see Denali. Either by renting an RV (google Anchorage RV rental for the main players) or a guided bus trip. (RV would be preferred). After seeing Denali and anything else they want to see, fly back home from Anchorage or Fairbanks. You could reverse the order (land trip first and then cruise back to Seattle) too.Just remember that Alaska is huge, and they won t be able to see everything in one trip. I ve been exploring for over 10 years and have yet to see it all.

At dmv why do i have to wait 30 days to take my road skills drivnig test? im confused? -

ok first of all im 19 and i have never had a license before i drove twice but i was with someone so it doesnt count [to me] ok help me they said if i pass my knowledge quiz exam i have to wait 30 days before i take the road skills driving test and i have to have my own car!! i dont get it if you have to wait 30 days to take the road skills test and you do not have a car then they must give you a temporary license for 30 days right? p.s im from virginia they said if i pass my knowledge exam i have to wait 30 days to take a road skills test driving around the dmv lot!!!!!!

Because you are 19 you only have to wait 30 days. If you pass the knowledge exam you will receive a learner s license. Meaning that you will be only allowed to drive with someone 21 or older or a relative that holds a valid driver s license. If you were younger than 19 you would have to hold the learners license for 9 months. After you have held your learners for 30 days you can go to DMV and take the road test. If you pass, they will give you your license.Pass Knowledge Exam - Get Learners licensePass Road Test - Get driver s license

Maybe they just have a lot of people ahead of you to take the test. I don t think they would give you a temp. license BEFORE you take the road skills test.
