Question about visiting DisneyWorld.? -

I will be visiting DisneyWorld early next month, after the New Year. It has been many years since I ve been, and was wondering what to expect. When to hit what parts, what lines are the worst, which attractions are bogus, and so on. How long is the average line?I have to see the Haunted Mansion, but my recollection is the line for that is pretty steadily moving. Will be going to EPCOT the next day, which has changed a lot, and I know to avoid Spaceship Earth in the morning, and overall Test Track is kind of silly. What else?

If you re visiting Disney World in early January (but after the first week in January when kids are still off for Christmas) then you should have pretty short lines during your stay. However, if you are visiting closer to the New Year, then the lines could be significantly longer. No matter when you visit, make sure you arrive at the theme parks EARLY! Plan to get there about 15-20 minutes before the scheduled opening time and you will then end up spending far less time waiting for rides. Let me split up my advice for the four different theme parks.First I ll explain some of the Disney terminology. A Fastpass is a feature at the theme parks that is free for everybody. Fastpasses let you save a huge amount of time waiting in line. To use Fastpass, you visit one of the attractions and insert your park ticket into a machine. You then will receive a slip of paper that tells you when to come back and visit the attraction. When that time rolls around, you enter the ride through the designated Fastpass entrance and you will have little or no wait at all.MAGIC KINGDOM-When you first get to the park head straight for Space Mountain. This is a great roller coaster that was recently refurbished so expect longer lines for it later in the day-After Space Mountain work around in a counter clockwise motion visiting the different lands of the Magic Kingdom-The attractions you can t miss at the Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan s Flight, It s A Small World, Buzz Lightyear-The attractions you can skip: Dumbo (unless you have little kids, the ride is a waste of time), The Enchanted Tiki Room, Stitch s Great Escape, Astro Orbiter, Winnie the Pooh (unless you have little kids)EPCOT-Start off your day in Future World; the other side of the park, World Showcase, doesn t have too many rides, so go on all of the rides at Future World in the morning before the park gets crowded-When you first get to the park, pick up Fastpasses for Soarin and then ride Mission: Space and Test Track. Once you re done with these two attractions it will be time for you to use your Fastpass for Soarin -Attractions you can t miss: Soarin , Mission: Space, Spaceship Earth, Test Track (it s actually pretty fun)-Attractions you can skip: Living With the Land, Ellen s Energy Adventure, Gran Fiesta TourHOLLYWOOD STUDIOS-This park doesn t have too much to do: you might be able to finish everything in half a day-Start off by getting Fastpasses for Rockin Roller Coaster and then riding the Tower of Terror-After you ride Tower of Terror, go back and use your Fastpass for Rockin Roller Coaster-Rides not to miss: Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Lights Motors Action, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours-Rides you can skip: Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey, Journey Into NarniaANIMAL KINGDOM-Like Hollywood Studios, this park can be completed in half a day-Start the day off by riding Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids-Rides you can t miss: Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, Primerval Whirl, Kilimanjaro Safari-Rides you can skip: TriceraTop SpinI hope I could help, and enjoy your trip!

In U.S.A. What are your parochialisms, among towns, regions, states etc? -

Hi, I am an italian boy I write from Italy and I am doing a research, What are parochialismes (p.s.it s right parochialisms or parochialismes?) in United States? There are parochialismes: New York vs Los Angeles for example? like Milan vs Naples? In Milan people say This is the city of workers, but Naples is the city of loafers! (Milan city most productive city of fashion etc, Naples is famous for Camorra for example. It s like New York or Boston (similair to Milan) and Los Angeles (similair to Naples)? ahahah There are this type/kind of parochialism between your cities? For example other parochialism in Italy are: Brescia - VeronaBergamo - BresciaReggio Calabria - MessinaFirenze (Florence) - PisaFirenze - LivornoAnd there are parochialism South vs NorthIn United States among you american there s parochialim North ( more productive ) and South ( Loafers and criminalty ) like there s in Italy?

Parochialism is based on stereotypes, myth, prejudice and generalities. The midwestern U.S. is viewed as conservative and straight while the west coast is viewed as gay and liberal.New Yorkers are viewed as rude and always in a hurry. West coast people are said to be laid back and friendly.Anyone with half a brain knows these statements are not really true. They are just generalizations made by someone who finds it easier to group people in a barrel rather than try to actually understand them on a more personal basis.I think Non-Americans are more prone to carry these feelings and thoughts. Look at the Sunnis and Shites . There is less variance in these two Muslim sects than there is between Protestants and Catholics. Yet they constantly berate each other year-after-year and escalate these thoughts to violence.

I m not sure I m understanding your question. But I ll try to answer it if I can. I had to look up parochialism in the dictionary and I don t think it s the right word for what you are asking. Religion and government are two separate entities in the States so we don t really have parochialism in that way. I ve lived in Chicago and New York so I can only give you my opinion based on where I ve lived. (I ll probably get flamed for this but so be it). New York is very loud and fast and everyone seems to constantly be on the move and going somewhere doing something and work work work! Los Angeles seems a lot more laid back (It probably isn t but I ve never been there). So in this respect I think your Milan vs Naples would fit with New York vs. Los Angeles. If I lived in Los Angeles I might say it was the other way around. Fashion I think centers in New York but since I m not in the industry I m not too sure. I know there is a big rivalry between New York and Boston but that s based around baseball. Much like there is competition between Chicago and Milwalkee all on Milwalkee s end. Chicago doesn t really care since it s so big but Milwalkee is always trying to compete with them and it just can t because it s too small. Living in the North I would say there is a parochialism that the North is more productive than the South but if I lived in the South I would probably say it was the other way around. Hope that helped at least a little bit. I tried.

License at 18 in las Vegas, Nevada.? -

I got my 1st permit at 15 1/2 in Vegas but it expired. Then I moved to Texas and a couple months before my 18th birthday I got another permit there in tx. I just turned 18 and am moven back to Vegas. What do I need to do to go get my license finally?

Drivers who have never been licensed or those who currently hold a license from a foreign country or a U.S. territory must take vision, knowledge (written) and skills (driving) tests. All drivers who currently hold a valid U.S. license must take the vision test. Drivers under the age of 21 are required to take the vision and knowledge tests.Additionally, transferring drivers will be required to take the knowledge and skills tests if any of the following conditions exist: * Applying for a different type or class of license. * 3 or more convictions of moving violations in the past 4 years. * driver s license or privilege to drive suspended, revoked, cancelled, or otherwise disqualified during the past 4 years. * a DUI conviction (drug- and/or alcohol-related offense) within the past 7 years. * any license restrictions which must be reevaluated to ensure the driver has the ability to drive safely. All applications are checked through the national Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS). If your license is suspended, revoked, or cancelled in another state, see Driver License Suspensions.

You start from scratch since you only had a permit. You go to DMV and take the test, pass the eye test and then take the driver s test.

What kind of place is South Bend Indiana? -

i want to go to Notre Dame University for college and i currently live in Glendale CA, (a neighboring city to los angeles, 15 mins away from Hollywood etc) which is a very pretty and high class city. the largest crime we have here is with traffic, (a lot of people drive much over the speeding limit therefore there are crashes, hit and runs etc) with the exception of large crimes every now and then. the weather is always warm and when its cold its usually doesnt go below ~50 degrees.what i would like to know about south bend is:what kind of people live there?what kind of city is south bend? (ex ghetto, classy, etc)what kind of crimes go on?what is the weather like?what are the neighboring cities? and are those better to live in?also, i noticed that the house out there are really cheap, is that for a specific reason?i know there are alot of question and i hope someone can answer them for me! thanks a bunch!

It is a college town. Most of the residents that are not college students are middle class. The weather is very similar to Chicago weather (it is only 90 minutes west of Chicago). They get a little more snow than us (I live outside of Chicago) because they are south of the snow belt. If you have never experienced cold weather you are in for a shock.I have seen the campus because I have had hockey tournaments there. It is an amazing campus. Most of the crime is petty crime.

Where is a place on the East Coast that gets a good bit of snow, rain, and does not have a big accent? -

when i say accent i mean like chicago and new york city and stuff. and also, if it was a christian republican town that would be great!

Sounds a bit like you re working on a script... You definitely can t do Baltimore or Philadelphia if you re talking about working class people. If you re going for more educated folks, you can place it almost anywhere, but you d need to avoid extremes like Boston or NYC. A lot of what would help you would be cities that have a large percentage of the population from elsewhere. Washington DC comes to mind. Dialects are also a bit less distinct in places like Buffalo, NY, though it will have a bit of the Great Lakes Vowel Shift which makes the vowels in all and father sound a lot alike. Now conservative makes it all harder because then you re talking about going south probably. Virginia is a slightly red state and has fairly neutral accents in some of the larger cities like Richmond, though you ll get stronger accents from the old-money families and in more rural and/or working class areas. There are a lot of transplants in some of the NC areas just east of the Smokies: Charlotte Greensboro. Dialects will tend to get stronger further south, and you move out of snow country.A big influence will be class. Get back to me if you have more questions...

Seriously?

you are a racist

What truck stops are in the vicinity of Los Angeles? -

I work at UPS and tried looking it up but don t know of any. Drivers came up to me asking where the nearest free truck stop would be, I heard of McDonalds doing that near there, but don t know of any others. I work at the UPS Grande Vista, in Vernon.

There really aren t any truck stops in the city. Most are either in the Ontario or Castaic area. There are a few commercial stations selling diesel fuel, but they aren t set up for over night parking.

The closest truck stops that I know of are in the Ontario, CA area, right off Interstate 10 freeway. From memory I think there are at least four to five stops on both sides of the interstate. There is an stop in downtonwn los angeles where I have seen big rigs stop for fuel, etc., just north of interstate 10. i think it is on Los Angeles or Main street.

I agree with Barry... Ontario has a decent one and it has a few restaurants and a 24 hour diner... it is called T.A.

Questions for Atlanta Natives? -

-What s your favorite thing about Atlanta?-Is it true that most of the men are homosexuals?-Is Atlanta really like a 24 hour party?-What s your least favorite thing about Atlanta?-Is Atlanta really set up like this: everyone lives around the main part of atlanta with the west, east, north, and south atlanta around it? If not, how is it set up?-I ve heard that not many people are really from Atlanta, that people migrate over there for job opportunities. Is that true?-what would you tell a newcomer to Atlanta? Thanks!

- My favorite things about are Atlanta is that it is warm (compared to the place I moved from), and that there is so much to see do (I love all the different types of great restaurants);- No, its not true. Although I ve heard that there are 2 women to 1 every man in Atlanta. So yes we have a shortage of men in the city.- No, Atlanta is not like a 24 hour party, its not really a party city (I would say New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, NYC those are 24 hour party cities. I would say Atlanta is lower on that party list, its more of a professional city.- The traffic is horrible! It is ranked 2 or 3rd worst in the country. I also hate pollen in the spring.- I don t really get your question..... North of the city is the safer, cleaner suburbs, East West of the city are okay and South of the city is poor crime ridden. I-285 forms a circle around the city.- It is probably 50/50....there are lots of people from Atlanta, but there are also a large group of people who have moved to Atlanta for its job opportunities weather. I ve met alot of people from NY, NJ, CT, MA, MI. The large amount of them seem to be from the north.- Make sure you have a job lined up before you move to Atlanta, make sure you really look at the crime statistics, etc. of the place you intend to live (if it is an apartment), make sure you come here with extra $ in your pocket and live close to where you work.

I ve lived in ATL for 10 years. so what is with the thumbs down? Report Abuse

-What s your favorite thing about Atlanta? THE MANY OPTIONS FOR ENTERTAINMENT, PRO AND COLLEGE SPORTS AND THE DIVERSITY OF THE CITY.-Is it true that most of the men are homosexuals? IGNORANT STEREOTYPE STATEMENT, NEXT QUESTION.-Is Atlanta really like a 24 hour party? NOT AT ALL-What s your least favorite thing about Atlanta? RACISM AND LOCAL POLITICS-Is Atlanta really set up like this: everyone lives around the main part of atlanta with the west, east, north, and south atlanta around it? If not, how is it set up? UNTIL RECENTLY NOT MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIVED IN ATLANTA. THEY ALL LIVED OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS IN THE SUBURBS. BUT THINGS ARE BEGINNING TO CHANGE AND RESIDENTS ARE MOVING BACK TO THE CITY.-I ve heard that not many people are really from Atlanta, that people migrate over there for job opportunities. Is that true? ATLANTA IS VERY TRANSIENT. NOT MANY NATIVES LEFT. ALMOST EVERYONE IS FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE-what would you tell a newcomer to Atlanta? DON T MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU ARE WELL EDUCATED AND PROFESSIONAL BECAUSE GOOD JOBS ARE HARD TO FIND AND YOU WON T SURVIVE IN THE CITY ON A LOW PAYING JOB.

-What s your favorite thing about Atlanta? Everything, I just love Atlanta; it s my home.-Is it true that most of the men are homosexuals? No, not a lot of people came out of closet so to speak, because the state is VERY homophobic, and racist against hispanics and asians-Is Atlanta really like a 24 hour party? A drug party-What s your least favorite thing about Atlanta? People that will stab you for less than a dollar-Is Atlanta really set up like this: everyone lives around the main part of Atlanta with the west, east, north, and south Atlanta around it? If not, how is it set up? Not a lot of people live in Atlanta the city, city itself, that s where the big businesses are located, but people are moving closer and closer to them and out of the farming.-I ve heard that not many people are really from Atlanta, that people migrate over there for job opportunities. Is that true? Yes-what would you tell a newcomer to Atlanta? Roll your windows up
