Any housing suggestions for the Camp Lejuene area? -

My husband just got orders to Camp Lejuene and we are now looking for someplace to live down there. Any suggestions of apartment complexes that are good? Or ones to avoid? Also, we were thinking about renting a house, but haven t had much luck getting responses from people who are posting on Craig s List. Any suggestions of a good realtor/property manager who could help us find something?

Are we going to get snow in MD this year before Jan? -

We never get snow here on Christmas!

The average snow fall in Washington, DC since 1888 for the month of December (Yes 122 years) has been 2.9 inches.Sorry, but you probably will not see it. But if you really want to hope fore it, please remember that in 1962 we received 16.2 inches. It will probably be cold, but we will have some warmish days, do not know about Christmas yet). This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine.

i live in potomac (montgomery county) and my friends and i are still able to wear flip flops and shorts to school, so i m going to say no to that question :) My family usually just goes skiing in aspen, CO every winter break so we actually have snow at christmas :P

I used to live in Maryland and man i miss the snow!!now i live in houston Texas and the last time it snowed here was in.. 94?right now its still in the 80 s.*sigh*it s so weird to have a hot christmas.

Haha...you may see some flurries but no accumulation. Forget about having a white Christmas.

Omg, I know. Lol. I live in Delaware, not far from you, I want more snow...lol. But I hope so.

No. This has been another mild early winter. Look for the snow to start in January.

Bob Ryan seems to think December 5th. Let s hope it is just flakes but not much accumulation.

We will get snow, I promise.

What are some good 18+ Clubs in Phoenix.? -

Nothing Trashy Or Ghetto, If possible.

try sandbar in either chandler or scottsdale. it s a laid back atmosphere but the music is good too. i ve been on both fridays and saturdays here-good crowd both days. i like the chandler one a bit better but only b/c it s closer to my house loldevil s martini in scottsdale is fun too but be warned-it gets hotter than h$ll in there!! but with the weather cooling off outside now, stepping out onto the porch for some air will be a welcome change. saturday nights are best for this clubmartini ranch in scottsdale is OK but has the tendency to get ghetto so use it as a last resort (we only go here if the other 2 places are too packed). hope this helps!!

Moved back to so cal . . . what words are different e.g rubbish is trash ? -

rubbish = trashdustbin = trash cansea = ocean boat = duffychips = french frieswhat else!?

The one word difference that may get you into the most trouble is the word FAG . In the United Kingdom it is a slang term for a cigarette, but in the United States it is a racist slur aimed at homosexuals, and considered very insulting.

flat= apartmenthire car=rental carlift=elevatorelevator=escalatorfootball=soccer (not that anyone cares about that here... I doubt you ll find more than a couple Americans who can name a single English football team. They think Manchester United is the name of an airline flight to the UK)Many words that end in se in UK are spelled with ze here... realize, analyze, etc.I think you re missing a point here. Most Americans like the English accents. So don t worry about it, no need to be too Americanized just yet.

No one says duffy. This is the first Ive heard of the word. Lived in the US all my life.I think you call them crisps..and we call them potato chips.I got in trouble once for this one, with an English friendSpunk means to be peppy and full of energy. You know what it means there. On the car The front window ( where the wipers are) is called the windshield. You call it something else, I forget. Windscreen ?The storage place in the back of the carYou - Boot Us - Trunk

In fact many LOVE it. I personally find it amazing and refreshing from the usual American slang. My friend s neighbor is British and it s quite interesting hearing him use his slang. It s also quite funny hearing him shout, YOU BLOODY BASTARD! if his little Dachshund does something naughty! HAHA!Oh, no US resident says bloody. We prefer fu@kin freakin stupid to replace bloody.

Since you lived here before, wouldn t you be able to answer this question better than anyone else?

FAIL. You live in England, stop pretending to be American.

wth is a duffy? oregon here

Does anybody know of any hotels near peekskill/tarrytown that has a jetted tub or jacuzzi in the room? -

Or possibly a website where it is easy to search something like that? I know I can find out which spots has a jacuzzi on the premise but I want one in my room

Peekskill, NY and Tarrytown, NY are both outside of New York City. Try using google maps.

Is it dangerous to drive I-20 to I-10 from Dallas, tX to Los Angeles, CA? -

It all depends on what you re driving your condition that you re driving in...Other than that, its a long boring drive...

Not particularly.Driving in general is always a risk, but that is pretty wide open driving.

I live in Los Angeles and would like to know of some of the best and closest camping sites? -

I m going camping with my roommate for Thanksgiving and we d appreciate any suggestions from local campers!

Lots of folks head out to the desert this time of year and at the Top of that list is Joshua treehttp://www.nps.gov/jotr/index.htmAnother place I recommend is Blue jay campground in the Cleavland national forest off the ortega hwy in Orange Countyhttp://www.fs.fed.us/r5/cleveland/recreaSome of the best views I ever had for camping was at lake and table mountain campgrounds up by wrightwood.http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/cleveland/recreaKeep in mind it s Thanksgiving weekend and if it s a reservable campground you ve probably missed out. Joshua Tree inside the park has a lot of first come first served sites but you need to be there by Wednesday to get one. Blue jay is also first come first served but it s real close to town.Another option is camping in dispersed areas there are a lot in the San bernadino national forest and on BLM lands south of Joshua tree off the 10 freeway there is no cost for dispersed camping other then the adventure pass. but no facilities either.Good luck to you

Where do you think you are going to get a campsite? All the best campsites were booked in May! Near is a relative term. There isn t much in and around LA proper, since real estate is much too expensive. Within 100 miles, you have a selection of campgrounds for tent camping. Try some of these campgrounds, listed roughly north to south). State campgrounds can be reserved at www.reserveamerica.com: Jalama: This is for those who like to get away from it all, and like to take risks. It is first-come, first-served, but if you DO get in, its incredible. Located in SB County, south of Vandenberg Air Force Base, near Lompoc. If you want to camp at a remote beach, this is the place. Nothing here but the store/restaurant, and some RR tracks. Can be a bit windy. The main reason I dont camp here too much is because I dont want to make the drive all the way there, only to find its full. www.jalamabeach.com. Gaviota: No reservations required, but I rarely see anyone here. Not much more than some parking spots by the side of highway 101. Refugio State Beach: North of Santa Barbara about 15 miles. This campground is right on the beach level, and has some spots just a few feet from the water. Its a nice place, and its not too far from SB. However, one drawback it the freight trains: It is located at a bend in the RR tracks (most state beaches are right by some RR tracks, BTW), and the longer piggyback cars screech when they make the turn. Its not a pleasant sound, but it only happens a couple times a day. El Capitan State Beach: Practically next door to Refugio, 2 miles south. El Cap is on the bluffs above the beach, with many trees around the campsites. However, the trains here are much less obtrusive, because theres no crossing (so no blasts from the horn), and the train is slightly below ground level at this point, as the tracks are dug into the hillside. This is my second-favorite campground.Carpinteria State Beach: 12 miles south/east of Santa Barbara. My favorite beach is Carpinteria, which is rated at The World s Safest Beach . There is plenty of beach for swimming or body surfing. There are some excellent tide pools on the south end of the beach. Also, there are plenty of places to explore in the nice little town.McGrath State Beach, Ventura: This is a nice enough beach. Technically, you are on the beach, but its almost ? mile to the water over the dunes. And no trains to worry about.Point Mugu State Park: Near Oxnard, it consists of two campgrounds: Sycamore Canyon and Broome Beach. Sycamore Canyon is nice enough. My dad used to love it here. There was a fire about 15 years ago which destroyed the campground, but its grown back nicely. Broome beach is a windswept parking lot just off PCH. Not much in the way of amenities here.Leo Carrillo State Park, Malibu: Note the name. Most people call it Leo Carrillo State Beach, but its on the inland side of PCH, and you can walk under PCH to get to the beach. Since the beach is covered with large rocks, its low on my list of favorite campsites.Newport Dunes: Located in Newport Beach, its the Cadillac of RV parks. You can tent camp here as well, but the park caters mainly to RVs. The prices are 2-3 times that of the state parks. If I wanted to spend that much, I d get a hotel room. www.newportdunes.com. Doheney State Beach, Dana Point: This is one of the few campgrounds that have actual beachfront sites. There is a VERY nice park next door, and you are within walking distance of the Dana Point Harbor and shops. Just across PCH and the RR tracks, there is a condo development where you could pay hundreds per night to stay. Or, you could pay twenty bucks and camp right on the beach. The choice is yours. This is another one of my favorite spots for tent camping.San Clemente State Beach: Located in the beach town of San Clemente, it is located on the bluffs overlooking the beach. San Onofre State Beach: Unless you are a HARD CORE surfer, this is not a good place to camp. I camped here once, but never again. You are 10 feet from the RR tracks, 20 feet from I-5. If you re lucky, you get to be right next to the border checkpoint, with flashing lights all night. And it s ? mile walk to the beach. There are loud teens and twenty-somethings up late, and no ranger enforcement of quiet time. Great if you re a college-aged person and want to surf and party, but rotten for families.South Carlsbad State Beach: Close to Legoland in north San Diego County. Located on a strip of land on the bluffs above the beach, its great for whale watching during migration season. San Elijo State Beach: Located in Leucadia, in north San Diego County. Same as South Carlsbad, but with a few hookup sites if you have an RV. Campland on the Bay: Private campground on the north end of Mission Bay, close to Sea World. Excellent location, lots of organized activities, but you pay for it. Full amenities here, like Newport Dunes.Note that the campgrounds in Angeles National Forest (Chilao and Horse Flats) are closed for the winter. And Angeles Crest Highway is still closed, anyway.

Some of the best campsites near Los Angeles could be in the Angeles National Forest. Also, Castaic Lake is real cool for camping.

los padres foresti went there once it was nice, but im not the camping person
