I am talking the word quintessential for an ESL class, what would be some things that are quintessential Seattle to give as examples?

THIS IS WHAT THE COMEDIAN JEFF FOXWORTHY HAS TO SAY ABOUT LIVING IN Washington State and Seattle: If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don t work there, you live in Washington. If you ve worn shorts, sandals and a parka at the same time, you live in Washington . If you ve had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed the wrong number, you live in Washington . If you measure distance in hours, you live in Washington . If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in Washington. If you have switched from heat to A/C and back again in the same day, you live in Washington . If you install security lights on your house and garage but leave both doors unlocked, you live in Washington If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in Central, Southern or Eastern Washington. If you design your kid s Halloween costume to fit over a 2 layers of clothes or under a raincoat, you live in Washington.. If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow and ice, you live in Washington. If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction, you live in Washington . If you feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash, you live in Washington. If you know more than 10 ways to order coffee, you live in Washington. If you know more people who own boats than air conditioners, you live in Washington. If you stand on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the Walk signal, you live in Washington .If you consider that if it has no snow or has not recently erupted, it is not a real mountain, you live in Washington. If you can taste the difference between Starbucks, Seattle s Best, and Dutch Bros, you live in Washington. If you know the difference between Chinook, Coho and Sockeye salmon, you live in Washington. If you know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Abiqua, Issaquah, Oregon, Umpqua, Yakima and Willamette, you live in Washington. If you consider swimming an indoor sport, you live in Washington.. If you can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese and Thai food, you live in Washington. If you never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho, you live in Washington. If you have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain, you live in Washington. If you think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists, you live in Washington. If you buy new sunglasses every year, because you cannot find the old ones after such a long time, you live in Washington.. If you actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your Washington friends, you live or have lived in Washington

What does newyork city have to offer? -

I am writing a personal narrative about how i enjoy going to new york..i need ideas of what makes it SO great. my intro is ... picture this. tall buildings towering over you, bright lights and strange aromas that fill the air. Your in new york the city that never sleeps. new york has so much to offer when it comes to the reastraunts. seeing my family.. and going to the amusement parks. how do i make it personal and how do i make it intriguing

Tell the reader what they don t know about New York. The things that you know from the ground up.Getting up to move your car because of alternate side of the street parking. . Tell the alphabet soup we speak The FDR, The LIE, The BQE,the A,C,E,F,M,R ,123 lines. How about how the city pushes you. Pushes you out of its way when youre daydreaming in its path,or pushes you down when you act like a quitter or pushes you to run faster and further than you ever thought you could because you refuse to get left behind.Tell how every borough is like a city of its own, every neighborhood like a county, every block like a town and how if there are 2 of anything one of them is in New York. City that never sleeps ? tell them what its doing up all night. Not just the clubbing, the Con Ed guys sweating in t shirts at 3 am from the steam comming out of the manhole while everybody else is wrapped up against an artic blast. See what I mean ? New York the port city whos life is moved by the tide of the will of the people who live and work here.Nobody gets everything but everybody gets something. Good luck

It is not what New York has to offer you, it is what you can offer to New York. Say you like the stage, it is all there. Movies, modeling, education, culture, diversity it is all here. It is not so much the buildings and the lights as it is the dreams and hopes.. Years ago, people came to NYC from the old world and found that what was offered was a Chance to build on their dreams. It is a city of tremendous financial power and political influence and ofcoarse, history. All of the rich histories of New York make it all the more alluring.

Grand Valley or Michigan State University? PLEASE HELPPP!!!!!? -

Does Grand Valley or Michigan State have pre pharmacy? If so, how long does it take? ALSO, do u think i d be able to get into University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a 3.74 GPA and 30 ACT score? extracurriculars are math club, key club, spanish club, model UN, international club, national honor society, volunteer at hospital, pharmacy and library, diversity training. thanks!

With your grades, ACT scores, and extracurricular activities you should go to whatever school gives you the most scholarship money and the campus that you feel the most at home at. With that being said, you should research schools and then apply to 5 to 10 schools you really are interested in and compare what they offer you. I think both schools have pre-pharmacy. I think it takes 8 to 10 years to become a licensed pharmacist.

Do bars lock down during new years eve in NYC b/c it gets too wild? How hard is it to get a drink? -

My girlfriend s uncle said the bars are locked down to keep the crazyness down during New Years Eve in NYC. Is this true? Is it hard to get a drink with all of the people around? Do the metros work or am I going to have to take a cab? Thank you!

I suppose it might depend on what part of the City you are talking about, but most bars make a lot of money on New Years Eve. I think most of them will be open!

Some do, mainly in time square. But I don t think it would be too hard, But based on personal experience, do not drink, because we got our spot in time square 12 hours in advance. And if you left to go to the bathroom, you lost your spot. And the crowd will not move for you. I would wait to drink after midnight.
