Whats American Girls View On English (Homecounty - Queen Speak) Boys? -

I m popping over to New York City for around 10 days with a few friends in February for my first time since i was 7 (10 years ago), and am slightly worried about what Americans think of us. Perhaps scorned at, or maybe adored, im not quite sure although i know my accent can be looked down upon in this country for some people consider is Posh :(Now im not going to lie, but... well ...a whole load of English 17 year old boy s with some hotel rooms to spare.... i don t need to put 2+2 together for you now do i, so tell me what do you think of us ?Ps. Bit worried about Alcohol i heard its something ridiculous like 21 over there, are there little indie places that serve or is it very strict ?

Generally speaking most Americans consider the British to be our friends and allies. Teen American girls may think your accent cute , but if you think American girls are so slutty they will automatically jump in bed with you, think again.Yes the legal age to consume liqueur is 21 and it is STRICTLY enforced. A liqueur license is too costly and necessary for business for anyone holding one to put it in jeopardy by selling to the underage.

Are there sand fleas on the beaches of hawaii? -

researching honeymoons. thought St. Croix was the spot, but have been reading about sand fleas on the beaches ruing otherwise perfect vacations. hawaii is much more expensive but I m wondering if it is worth it to avoid sand fleas. are there sand fleas on the beaches of hawaii during the month of June?

There are no sand fleas here. I m a regular beachgoer (go to a variety of beaches) and have never encountered any problems. The beaches are great here. If you want more info on Oahu beaches, see http://www.to-hawaii.com/oahu/beaches/

I ve been to Hawaii three times and one of those trips was in June. I ve never encountered any sand fleas.

Is the University of Georgia as pyscho-conservative? -

as other Universities in the SEC like Auburn, Bama, Tennessee, etc.?I ask because Athens seems like a really cool little town and the atmosphere surrounding games is great.

No, not at all. About the only SEC school I can think of that might come close to being as liberal as UGA might be Florida. If you re at an UGA football game it is a lot harder to tell because all the fans from throughout the state converge on Athens that weekend, but Athens-Clarke County has always gone blue in presidential elections and would have a democratic representative to congress if not for the surrounding areas of Athens (Oconee, Oglethorpe, etc.) Often times you will see student protests over workers being underpaid and the unpopular wars occuring. It s really hard to go in too much detail over this because liberal and psycho-conservative can be such broad terms. Definitely compared to the rest of the state (minus maybe Atlanta) I would say Athens is the most liberal stronghold you will find in the state, with UGA being the very center of it.

Don t let the football crowd influence your decision. If you are looking for a school base your choice on academics not sports scores.Athens is a very nice small town and it does have this hip vibe to it. But you have to realize all of these school are located deep in the Southern Baptist Bible Belt and that is something none of the Southern schools can escape.

I m not exactly sure what you mean ... but keep in mind that UGA culls bright students primarily from Georgia. Being a liberal New Yorker, I find a predominance of people living here to be ultra-conservative, so it would stand to reason that their kids would be, as well.I love Athens, and agree it s a cool little town. (Check out the Grit; it s one of my favorite health food places.)

What is the cheapest way to get fro Illinois to california? -

Im looking for the cheapest way possible to get from chicago to the san bernadino area? HELP

Check out deals on Southwest Airlines from Midway to LAX. You could also drive.

Walking is free.Seriously, there are four ways to go:Amtrak (train)AirplaneBus (greyhound, trailways, etc.)DriveDriving or taking a train costs more than taking a bus. Most flights cost more than a bus, but a few do not. The bus and train trips are each several days. If you have that much time, then there may be an inexpensive flight on one of the days that costs less than the bus.

walking, running, taking the bike there! but if u r talkin bout wth out usin much energy, probably bus or drivin car.by the way do u mind answerin a question, real quick (GO HERE IF INTERESTED)http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091115205924AAkzstG

My American South Travel Adventure? -

I want to make a long trip to the USA in mid-January to February in the US. I am from Europe, Greece.I am planning to start from Colorado since I have some friend there, spend some time there and the head south-east till Florida. I am an outdoors type, not interested in clubs, cities - I like mountains, lakes kayaking hiking. 1)Will the National Parks be available in Jan-Feb or it is too cold?2) New Orleans - worth it in Jan-Feb? how is the situation now (after the Katrina)3) Other places to see the South like you see it in the movies???I know that is a lot to ask but..Thanks in advance!

About New Orleans:Mardi Gras Day will be February 16th, and there are parades celebrations for the 10+ days before MGD. The bad thing about Carnival is it tends to take over for the last 5 or 6 days: Many attractions close, restaurants go to limited menus, etc. so avoid NOLA during that time unless you want to visit for Carnival.http://www.mardigras.com/http://www.mardigrasguide.com/New Orleans (and the rest of southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi) is still recovering from Katrina. However, there has been huge progress in the pst 4 years and most of the metro area now looks like Katrina never happened. The tourism/entertainment industry has fully recovered.Mardi Gras and the Jazz Festival are world famous events, but New Orleans hosts many festivals and celebrations throughout the year: www.nola.com/festivalsThere is always music, but the bands change: Go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music then Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music. Note that music clubs often advertise No Cover , meaning there is no charge for entering. However, clubs with No Cover often require that customers buy a beverage each for every set of music (which can be every 20 minutes) so KNOW THE PRICE before you sit down. Clubs do that because some people will sit in the club all evening drinking nothing (clubs only make money from the drinks they sell - not from the music). It is also a good idea to pay for each round of drinks (in clubs on Bourbon Street) as it is delivered so there can t be any confusion at the end of the evening.Preservation Hall has traditional live Jazz, and doesnt serve alcohol so all ages are welcome: www.preservationhall.comAn incomplete guide to bars clubs: http://www.10best.com/New_Orleans,LA/Nigwww.neworleanscheapdrinks.comLouisiana is the only US state that offers tax-free shopping for international visitors, but not all merchants participate in the program: http://www.louisianataxfree.com/ Purchases of art may be tax-exempt: http://www.crt.state.la.us/culturaldistrRstaurant suggestions: http://www.10best.com/New_Orleans,LA/ResCheck www.frenchquarter.com and http://www.nola.com/visitor/ for ideas about other things to do.For places to stay:www.frenchquarterhotels.comwww.villaconvento.comwww.indiahousehostel.comHope you have a great time, wherever you go!

Go to Pass Christian, Mississippi- AMAZING city. Still recovering from Katrina but a beautiful place with lots to see. New Orleans is great (pretty much back to normal in the main places like Bourbon Street) but if you re not interested in clubs and cities I would advise against it. They do have great food and amazing live music though, I just got back yesterday and the weather was decent, shouldn t be too terrible in January. Go to Arizona and Texas!! The food is soo good. See the Grand Canyon!! Colorado is literally the most beautiful state I have ever been in, the Rockies are amazing and perfect. Have an amazing time either way.

New Orleans-Great at anytime of the year. You will not even know the hurricane happened... Come to Lafayette area. We are about 3 hours west of N.O. and are the home of Cajun Country. Lots of fun festivals with great music and FABULOUS food.

new orleans is da ****!

1. National park info: http://www.nps.gov/index.htm2. New Orleans will be worth it. The weather will be cool to cold and Carnival season will be in full swing! Mardi Gras will be on Tues. Feb. 16, 2010, (http://www.mardigrasneworleans.com/mardi so you could make it here for MG or you could wait until after Feb. 16th if you want things to be a little calmer. As for Katrina, while we are still heavily impacted by the storm and levee failure, you will not be affected by any of the aftermath. The French Quarter was barely damaged and all things that would interest a tourist are fully operational. The only way you are going to experience Katrina damage is if you take a Katrina tour or drive to the heavily impacted areas yourself. The areas have been cleaned up and to those who are not familiar with them pre-Katrina, the areas will only seem to be tons of overgrown empty lots interspaced with with abandonded houses. The tours will give you some idea of the way things were before the storm. Most of us in the damaged areas are not offended by the tours and want the world to know how badly things can go wrong. So, don t feel badly about taking a tour; we don t feel exploited we are glad that someone remembers us.3. I m not sure what you mean by like in the movies, but I would suggest a swamp tour, (you will see tons of ads for them when you go to the French Quarter like for Honey Island etc.), and for you to visit some of the big old homes like Oak Alley, (http://www.oakalleyplantation.com/), Laura Plantation, (http://www.lauraplantation.com/), Nottoway, (http://www.nottoway.com/), The Myrtles, (http://www.myrtlesplantation.com/), Rosedown, (http://www.nps.gov/history/NR/travel/lou etc.Hope this helps; have a good trip!

Where are some good places to settle down in? -

I m dreaming of what my life will be like one day. I want to go to New York and work as a photographer, maybe audition for Broadway. When I m done, I want to settle down and be a teacher or a youth pastor. Where are some good places to settle down with kids. The place can t be out in the middle of no where, but still safe. Not to rural or to urban. It has to have all four seasons, fall, winter, spring, and summer, and also it can t break my bank to live there. Any suggestions?P.S.:It has to be in America. And NOT West Virginia!! I already live there and hate it!!!!!

Suburb of Chicago or Atlantaor somewhere North Carolina

I am 18 yrs old and am going to las vegas, can i sit and watch the players gamble with someone who is over 21? -

That doesn t sound fun :(I d wait until I was 21 to go to Vegas baby!!

No way! lol I m actually 20 and have been to vegas many times since age 4 lol, but i hate to say it but your just gonna have to do find other stuff to do, as much as it sucks. Vegas is still ******* awesome, not matter if you can do **** or not, i know it sounds strange, but that s just me. (naturally its gonna be one big blur of lights when i turn 21!, lol) speaking personally you can sometimes get away with being around the slots, def. NOT the tables though, but that was me and i tend to look older anyways. So yeah.

I think that you can t watch. To watch you have to be 21.

Sorry you can t. You are not allowed in the table area or close to slot machines. Here are other things you can do in Vegas.http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/things-to

Most casinos have game areas for kids of parents who are off gambling, but any areas that are gambling related are strictly 21 years or over no matter how much you beg :-)

Sit outside the casino, and get some binoculars.

If your not 21 your not allowed on the casino gaming floor area..

nope you can t be on the gaming floor period.

Nope! Must be 21. You can however, go to the buffet.
