Have done much research on Las Vegas, what the city is like beyond the strip, the neighborhoods, what kinds of industries are there, grocery stores, etcI want to go to Vegas because I want to somewhere new and I want a change in my life, I love living in Orlando but I am bored hereI plan to have a job set up by the time I do move out, (I will be driving out) how much cash should I have saved up before I come out there if I have ajob and place already in orderI wont be ready to move until about next year
Five thousand sounds good. Remember you will have to pay deposits on everything and those could run into the thousands if not careful. Make sure that the job you line up is guaranteed in writing. I know of a couple people who actually transfered within their company to here and when they arrived were told that they didn t get the position. So be careful. You might want to read this webpage.
basic rule of thumb I use is have enough for 3 months rent plus 1 month of groceries. and a job to start at... that should hold you tell you get setup and it will more then likely run out in 2 months...
Make sure you have the job in writing. There have been many people who moved here with a job lined up only to find the job either didn t exist, or paid much less than they were told. The job market and unemployment levels here are among the worst in the nation at the moment. (Even the casinos are laying off!)Even with a job, you will need enough to live on until your pay starts coming in. (Things are NOT cheap in Vegas any more. Everything started going crazy when the Californians started pouring in.) Remember that most rentals will require leases and 1st and last month rent plus security deposit. (plus many of the better ones will do background and credit checks) You may find you can t arrive and immediately move in. Allow for having to spend time in hotels, or an RV park if you have an RV. I lived in my RV for the first month I was in Vegas while I found a good apartment complex close to work. (Commuting here is as bad as in Orlando and signing a lease for an apartment unseen is NOT a good idea.) Quality of rentals in the valley varies greatly even for those in the same price range. Don t believe their advertising. Check them out in person. The same goes if you are thinking about buying. Most houses here are tract houses built very cheaply and many have Home Owner Associations that will tell you exactly what you can or can t do in and around your own home. How much grass you must have in your yard, how many vehicle you can have on your property and what color to paint your mailbox are some of the stupid things they restrict. Then you need to change your driver s license and vehicle registration. Utilities are quite often not included in rents, so be prepared for deposits to have utilities turned on.
You know what, i just had a friend that tried to move from florida to vegas and didnt make it as he only had $1000 bucks saved up and working at the local Ruby Tuesday Restaurant. I would say this, try to save up AT LEAST 5-6 months of rent if you could just to be on the safe side. I hear from alot of people florida is not fun and they are coming out west for some reason.. If you have a Job lined up in vegas i would say go but if you dont, i wouldnt move here, the state is broke and whatever Job that are available are going to the locals first before you but if you have one then its not as bad.. Driving to vegas from florida will take about 40 hours so youll have your work cut out for you if your the only driver.. Good Luck!
