Would this show in brooklyn be safe for a few girls to go to alone? -

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?v=app_2344061033 ref=profile id=813530640#/event.php?eid=228311197386 index=1i honestly do not know brooklyn at all, so idk if this is like a sketchy area or if it s unsafe or what. it would me, i m 16, and a few friends my age going. and also which subway would you recommend? are they sketchy? thanks!

hi, tbh i dont know brooklyn that well wither but im sure youll be fine! stay close and carry a pepper spray, and you should be safe. Have a guy or your dad or someone walk with you if you feel insecure, you never know, in NY there are many drunk pedos, so DEF. carry a pepper spray or something to protect you! goodluck!!! :)

That is deep in Bedstuy. While 5pm -8pm is generally still safe, just use common sense. Don t flash expensive phones etc. The J, M, Z trains to Myrtle ave but thats a good 6 block walk, or the J train to kosciusko street, which is the next stop after Mytle.

What is a cheaper way to travel than greyhound? -

Im planning on leaving from knoxville TN to Phoenix AR here in a few months and I know about the whole plan 21 days in advance with greyhound but still it will be $200 dollars or at least in the area.. So does any one know of cheaper alternative buses or other modes of transit that might be cheaper?

Not really. The only other way would be to hitch hike and then you re not guaranteed to get there! Taking a bus isn t going to kill you. I would plan on spending some money along the way for food and sodas.

greyhound sucks. and that trip will take 48 to 72hours or more on greyhound. (greyhound is the cheepest way) but going bus. your boned if you wish to sleep. plus some places you have to watch for the crackheads who will try and steal you blind...best bet. Drive!!!!!!!! so you can stop when you want to. and it will be much much faster. but it will prob cost a bit more.

Ride a camel or a donkey.http://ulayumbgota.blogspot.com/

What? Leaves from knoxville tn? Damn, who leaves from knoxville tn nowadays??

Don t think so. Wow - that sounds like the trip from Hell!! Good luck!

How much money should I save for a road trip? -

My friends and I are planning on taking route 66 from Chicago to California. No solid plans yet about where we ll stay, where we ll get our food, etc. I just want a rough estimate on how much money we should bring.

Figure a budget. Figure expenses for gas, food lodging and play money. I always figure my gas expenses based on 300 miles per tank and divide the total trip mileage by that. You can go to map quest and figure mileage from point to point. make sure you figure in some extra for taking a side trip or two. Go to www.gasbuddy.com and you can get real time gas prices around the country. Figure 25 bucks a day for food per person if you are careful. You can get motel rooms for around 45 to 65 bucks a night if you are frugal, or take sleeping bags and camp along the for a lot less.

Maybe 300-800 Good luck =DBut you didn t say how many days you were thinking of going for?It should be based on the amout of daysMore days=More Money

More important than cash...................Have a valid credit card with a good balance.

about um 600 or so

Is there a chance i could get into the university of california santa barbara? -

i know that it is a hard school to get into, plus the fact that i live out of state will only bring down my chances.i have a 3.6 gpai am invovled in 3 different community service activitiesi play 2 sportsi am in the spanish clubi have not taken the SATs yet (i am only a junior), but what score do you think they will be looking forwhat could i do to improve my chances??

I have a hard time answering questions from people that block other members from seeing their Q A s It makes me think they are trying to hide something. Is your interest in UCSB because it has curriculum in your chosen major, or because it is reputed to be a party school?

first off, you should ask this question in the higher education area, not the LA area.second, i think you have a small chance of getting in. the average gpa for high school freshman getting into that school is around a 3.8. that was 2 years ago too. now with all of the budget cuts for the UC system, as well as increased applicants, the school will be even more selective than ever before. so if this was 2 years ago i would say you have a decent chance, but today, well i hope you have back ups. good luck.

If you are out of state do not come to a UC or CS school for an undergrad degree. The extreme budget cuts have made it impossible to get all the classes you need each semester. And they just announced a 32% rate increase. An out of state student can go to a private school now like USC for no more money.

well my cousins were accepted... mind you they re pretty bright. It is a rather difficult school to get into but it never hurts to give it a shot. If you re a minority you ve got a better chance than most.

Maybe you should resubmit your question in the university section. This is the travel section.

New York to Boston Travel - internal flight or by road? How much? -

I am going to New York shortly, staying in Midtown for a few days and then I have to go to Boston for a couple of days - flying back to the UK from Logan. I hate the hassle of internal flights but don t want to drive myself- I am used to driving on a different side of the road! How much would a taxi/private hire cost from New York to Boston? About how long would it take- I need to schedule my journey. This is a business trip so the company is paying- within reason!

You could take a taxi from New York to Boston. That s about a 3.5 to 4.5 hour drive (more or less depending on traffic and your actual starting and ending points). Since you would have to pay the taxi for the return trip, the cost would be significant - my guess is $300-400, perhaps more. The major issue would be arranging for a taxi to make the trip -it s possible, but you would need to do something more than just flag down a taxi on the street outside your hotel in New York. The practical options are to fly or rail. Rail would take about 5.5 - 6 hours, but that could still be faster than flying considering the hassle getting to and from airports, the time required for security checks, claiming luggage, etc). There is a daily train that leaves Penn Station about 11:30 and gets into Boston s South Station about 4pm. You do need a reservation on the AMTRAK system, but there is much less hassle than with flying. I haven t checked the pricing, but my intuitive feeling is that the rail option would be far less expensive than taking a taxi..

You can take the train instead of driving or flying. You can take Amtrak s Acela Express or the Northeast Regional from Penn Station NYC to Boston s South Station. Once in Boston, you can take either a taxi or the subway (underground) to Logan Airport. Now the trip by inter-city train will take about 3.5 to 4 hours and the one way fare ranges from $62 on the Regional to $140 on the Acela Express. You can relax and do any work you want to catch up with, while traveling on a HST.I hope this information is very helpful.Good luck and happy holidaysNative New Yorker

Well the first of December was covered with snowSo was the Turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston So there goes your driving optionYour best bet is to take one of the 19 trains that Amtrak runs each dayAs others have mentioned flying the route would only marginally improve your door to door times

Take the train. between the the traffic and security at the airports, Amtrak is just as fast and drops you off in the middle of Downtown Boston. It s a three hour ride on Acela Express, vs 3-4 hours in the car (including food and bathroom breaks-also, trains don t get stuck in traffic).

I fancy a little flight to New York and then hopping down to Boston. You can come with me in my plane if you wish.I don t fly anymore because my health isn t the best but my pilot Gregor is one of the best there is.I could do with a break and some good company ! EDIT--It s a nice little baby similar to this one.http://privatejetcharter.com/private-jet

a car service from NY to Boston is going to run about $500 (not including tip and tolls). (http://www.bostonlimousine.com/Boston-to The ride is about 4-5 hoursDelta airlines runs a flight/shuttle from NY to Boston every morning for much less than $500 and a lot quicker than 4-5 hours.

Things to do in new york for a teenager? -

I m 14 and I was wondering what would be somethings to do in new york for my age?

Go visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, two landmarks of New York City. To get there by the ferry, you need to purchase round-trip ferry tickets at Castle Clinton National Monument in Lower Manhattan. Ferries from New York operate on a loop, stopping first at Liberty Island and then at Ellis Island before returning to Battery Park, New York.Directions to get the ferry dock:http://www.nps.gov/stli/planyourvisit/puGo visit the Empire State Building, one of the many landmarks of our city. It is located at 350 5th Avenue. To get there by MTA subway, take the 1, 2, or 3 (Seventh Avenue Lines), A, C or E (Eighth Avenue Subway) to 34th Street/Penn Station. Or take the B, D, F, N, Q, R or Path to 34th Street/Avenue of the Americas.Go walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, which is, if I m correct, which I might not be, is the oldest structure in the city. If not the oldest structure, the oldest bridge. To get there, and walk across it, take the 4, 5, or 6 to the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall stop. Another option would be to take the J, M, or Z to Chambers Street.Go visit Coney Island, the home of the world famous Cyclone roller coaster. The amusement park will be closed, especially in the winter time, but the aquarium is open year-round, and sometimes the pier is open, so you can get some snacks -- they have fantastic corn dogs on the pier. To get there by train, take the D, Q N or F train to Stillwell Avenue, which is the last stop. This takes about 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan, and sometimes longer, depending on where you are coming from.Go for a ride on the Circle Line. There are numerous different cruises C one is the Full Island Cruise, which takes you around Manhattan on a three-hour cruise. The Semi-Circle Cruise sets sail on a two-hour cruise down the Hudson offering a stunning panoramic of the famed New York skyline and a close-up view of Lady Liberty. The Liberty Cruise turns 75-minutes into a quick and inspirational way to see New Yorks highlights from the water. There is also a Harbor Lights Evening Cruise, which allows you to view the hotspots of New York City from the water at night. Then, there is The Beast. Its a boat that travels at forty-five miles per hour down the river to the Statue of Liberty. Both cruises are fun and informational, and are a great way to kill some time if you dont have anything to do.Here is the Circle Line schedule:http://www.circleline42.com/site/schedulCircle Line special events:http://www.circleline42.com/site/browse.Go to visit some museums. What fun things are there to do for a teenage girl in Maryland? -

I m turning fifteen and its obviously December so I can never have creative birthday parties because of the cold. I just want to go somewhere with my best friend for my birthday. I don t want to go to the mall because I will just spend all the money I earned over the summer. I also don t like museums.

Hi, even though this appears in Atlanta ...... you can go down to Inner Harbor in Baltimore and treat some friends for dinner for your birthday. Or, perhaps have a pottery painting party. When my daughter turned fifteen, we rented a couple of rooms in a nice hotel with an indoor pool, and had a sleepover party for a group of girlfriends. Everyone had a really good time.
