There are TONS of places to go and see. Do you have a few days? The stuff you listed would be good...especially Arlington and if you get to go to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.Since your boyfriend likes history I would recommend the new WWII memorial (it was built I believe in 2004). Its a really nice memorial. There are lots of other memorials too (Vietnam, Korean War, etc).I would also recommend the Smithsonians. They recently renovated and re-did the National Museum of American History. Its HUGE. They have a whole section devoted to American Wars and then other sections as well related to other aspects. Its pretty nice. Of course there a lot of other Smithsonians too, like the Holocaust Museum, Air and Space, Natural History Museum. Here is their website with a listing: http://www.si.edu/Museums/ and here is the link directly to the American History Museum: http://www.si.edu/Museums/Another thing, I m not sure what your interest level is but in Chinatown they have a Spy Museum which is supposed to be pretty cool. I haven t had a chance to go yet, but it seems interesting. Its within walking distance from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro station Here is the link: http://spymuseum.org/Since you ve been to DC before I m sure you know this but driving and parking can be tricky. Metro is usually the best way to go, and most sites/museums are accessible via the Smithsonian metro station or Federal Triangle. I believe you can get to Arlington Cemetary via metro as well although last time I went I was in 8th grade so I don t really remember.Good luck and have fun! Enjoy your trip!

Smithsonians. They re free.
If he likes history the Smithsonians are a great choice. Mt. Vernon (Washington s home) was very nice and I think he d like that too. In the summer if he s a sports fan they have baseball (Nationals) and if it s early in the summer (no later than June) they may have hockey and/or basketball. You ll have to check in the spring to see if those teams make the playoffs and are still playing when you get there. Pretty much any major building you go to he ll like. Capitol tour, Supreme Court, etc. Hard to go wrong with a history fan in DC.
