Does anybody have tips for finding a place to live in Berlin? -

I m going to Berlin in October and need a place to live there for the academic year. I m a grad student and don t have a lot of money, so it should be cheap, but not dangerous or gross, either. Anybody have suggestions on where to look?

From my recent experiences, I think the best way to go is Craigslist. A lot of people don t realize that its international, and not just a USA site. The link for Berlin housing is:http://berlin.craigslist.org/It seems to be the online database with the most options, especially for lower cost short-term arragnements like you seem to be looking for the 1-year of college.Best of luck, and I hope Craigslist helps!

I don t find Germans attractive

Is it a culture shock moving from Atlanta to D.C.? -

Is it easy to meet people in D.C.?

DC is a more compact area than Atlanta. There are numerous social groups and clubs depending on your preference. You can volunteer in field you like. Churches are a great social networking outlet and your work place co-workers are good resources.Use the internet ie social clubs washington,dc, churches(your preference) washington dc, etc.

Aamp;P Mechanic question in West Virginia? -

Is there a demand for A P in West Virginia? Do they get a good pay? If so how much? Any details would help.

Anywhere you have planes, either in service or being built, there will be a need for a certified aircraft and power plant mechanic. I checked some sites in WV and didn t see too many compared to California, Arizona, Chicago, New York, St. Louis and Atlanta.Do they get good pay?Yes they do. Low end is around $17/hr. High end specialist job shoppers can approach $75/hr.When times are good and aircraft sales are up you can work for someone like Boeing and make good money. I think when Boeing gets the bugs worked out of their Dreamliner 787 they will be clamoring for A-P mechanics. They are behind schedule and will play catch up, which means overtime and lots of work. That s just an example.Private airlines hire A-P mechanics who are familiar with the types of planes and engines they use. If an airlines uses Boeing 757 s with Pratt Whitney engines and you know that plane well, then you have a shot at a job with them. The only drawback about WV is it s lack of airports and aircraft fabrication facilities.I worked in aircraft tooling and did aircraft technical writing for 20 years. Any job relating to getting and keeping planes in the air pays decently.Learn blueprint reading ANSI Y14.5 it will help you greatly.

Orange County to San Francisco? -

I was wondering if it would be quicker to take the 99 up to SF than the 5 because I am driving on the 26th and back down on the 28th so the holiday traffic is going to be terrible. Any suggestions?

I wouldn t take 99. That freeway goes much farther east than you need, no matter what the traffic on 5 would be. 101 may be faster, but Im sure you ll be okay on 5. Sometimes, it backs up near the Altamont pass, one thing you can do is take 152 at los banos to gilroy and then up 101 to SF. I did that a few times and it seemed to take the same amount of time as taking 5 to the Altamont pass.Good luck!

It doesn t look like 99 goes near enough to San Francisco to be a viable option. Just grin and bear it, or try 101.
