My family (we re Australian) will be in Victoria, BC for a wedding early next August. There are 5 of us, my father (61), my brother (33), my husband (42), myself (36) and our daughter who will be 11 months old. We ll have two hire cars between us and want to spend 4-5 days together as a family in the week following the wedding, but not sure what would best suit our travel requirements and diverse interests. My father and brother are both keen fishermen, while my husband and I would prefer a wider range of activities, and obviously our daughter won t cope with too much long-distance driving. Only my father has ever spent any time in the USA previously, and we all appreciate spectacular scenery and interesting culture, food wine etc.Should we head up into the Canadian Rockies for a few days, or is that too far to drive? Alternatively, does anyone have any suggesions for spending time in Washington State and/or Oregon?Thanks in anticipation!
I can t say much for outside Washington or Seattle , really, but they re some interesting things in Seattle. There s a lot of Sea Food here. Pike Place Market the oldest farmers market. The Space Needle You can ride to the top of it and eat at the Sky Cafe, the revolving restaurant. The food isn t that great but I heard it s getting better.Not to far from the Space Needle is the EMP: Experience Music Project Also near that is the Seattle Center: It has Sculpture park and you might even be able to see a play at the center theater. There s rides at the Seattle Center, some for little kids and some for adults, games to play. There s the Seattle Aquarium right next to the water and not too far from it there it the Ye Old Curiosity Shop. The stuff there is pretty expensive but it s cool to look in there, they have a real mummy from out in the desert. Whale Watching ( But that s really pricey) You could go to the Art MuseumThere s one of the Hammering Man sculptures in front of it. It s 48 feet tall. The Glass Museum in Tacoma about an hour and a half away. You ll have to look up the schedules but they have times where they go though the actual process of making glass sculptures. You could catch the water taxi( ferry ride) across the water and check out alki beach. ( and more sea food.) I don t know anything about fishing but they re some good lakes around here. ....I think I just gave you bunch of stuff to Google....Well, Hope this helped some and that you enjoy your trip.
