Is New York a great place to live? -

After High School I want to go somewhere with a pretty optimistic atmosphere and friendly people. I want to move out of my state (North Carolina) and start all over new some where and meet new friends. Does New York OR California promise those things?

Depends on what you want. Manhattan is where most jobs are and a lot of the night life. It isn t the ONLY place, but about 1/2 of what goes on, goes on there. You can live cheaper, with nicer people and less crowding in the outer boroughs though. Travel is usually pretty good, almost as good as if you live in upper Manhattan. If you find a nice bar or club to hang out in, you ll meet the people you re looking for.

Nobody s promising you anything :) but you could achieve your dream in either NYC or California. You should come visit before you make any firm commitments, and you should save up a lot of money before attempting to make the move.

i would think so(: (though i live in NC to love it haha.) they have a lot of jobs in NY, great shops, plenty of nice people(: haha great place to go to start a new life i went there on vacation it was great

Is San Antonio Texas a fun place to live? -

Can anyone who has lived or visited there tell me if San Antonio is a fun place to live? I m 22 and would like to live in a place with an active nightlife and nice weather. Also is it safe? Are the locals nice? is it diverse? I know it has a large Hispanic population but what else is there? I have never even been to Texas but I m from california and it typically gets a bad wrap. I am going there for AIT training for the Army and just wanna know what the city is like, because it may be my permanent base station.I have been doing research and it looks like a chill place, and everybody seems to like it. Is there anything bad about living there?

I lived in San Antonio for five years, and in Texas all my life. Native Texans tend to be friendly folks, but San Antonio is a very large city, full of imports , so it will be like any other large city...some folks will be nice, some will not. Likewise, some parts of the city will be safer than others, just like any city. The north central and northwest sides of the city generally have the lowest crime rates. The worse thing about downtown San Antonio is the street system, which takes awhile to figure out. It was once said that the street system was designed by dumping a load of longhorn cattle at the Alamo, then each longhorn was followed by a street crew.San Antonio has the Riverwalk, which is nightclub heaven. If you re looking to party, you re coming to the right place. There are also many, many other things to do for fun in San Antonio (depending on what you think of as fun ), too many to list, in fact. Google visit San Antonio and you will find a bunch of websites that will outline some of the diverse things to do in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. The weather is hotter than a half-acre of hell in the summer, but the winters tend to be mild. If you live between the ocean and the mountains in California, you re probably going to hate our weather, but if you live east of the mountains, you ll feel right at home.As for Texas getting a bad rap from California; California gets a bad rap from us, so we re even. Welcome to Texas!

You can get burned out on some of activities living there.

One thing to check out when your here is Fiesta!!! Partying nonstop for about two weeks in april.

Its fun If you like getting shot.

:O I heard its gonna snow in Sacramento! Do you think in the EGUSD schools might be canceled? -

I didn t have enough characters to type everything there but, the weather is gonna be pretty mad outside tomorrow do you think their gonna cancel school for tomorrow?

No. It didn t snow but an inch anywhere in Sacramento, schools will definitely not be closed.

If it really does snow, then I suppose they probably would - unless Sacramento has lots of snow plows (... don t think so).If the weather is just rain and cold, then I would guess that the schools will remain open.Hope you can enjoy the day - how ever it turns out.

How can i get to 820 July St, Natchitoches, Louisiana from Bronx NY? -

hey dose anyone know how to get their by having no passport or anything like that i saw by car is 22 hr but it to long and a taxi driver wont drive me that long but if someone know how i can split the time like take 2 3 4 taxis to get there or something can u help

You don t need a passport to travel within the United States, even to Louisiana. The most expedient and cost-effective method is to fly from any of New York s airports to either Alexandria, Baton Rouge or New Orleans, Louisiana. From whichever airport you choose to arrive in, take a Greyhound bus to Natchitoches (it s pronounced Nack-it-ish, by the way). From the bus stop in Natchitoches, take a taxi to 820 July St. An alternative is to take an Amtrak train from New York to Louisiana. I m not sure of what cities are served in Louisiana besides New Orleans. You ll have to check Amtrak s Web site, www.amtrak.com. But flying and rail are certainly going to be less expensive and less time-consuming than taking a taxi.

You could ride the bus. Take Greyhound from New York to Shreveport, LA. Then get a taxi or find a ride from Shreveport to Natchitoches. You can book Greyhound at http://www.greyhound.com/ - it would cost probably about $150 for the bus trip plus whatever the final taxi would cost.

You shouldn t need a passport to travel in-country. I d have to say go to the nearest bus station and take something like a Greyhound, then taxi closer from the bus station there.Or you could fly, I suppose, unless that s cost-prohibitive.

walk to enjoy the wonder of the countrysideor road trip. i suggest car is awesome idea. get a really good friend to come with and it ll be the best experience of your life

google maps, you type it in and it tells you the estimated time and road to take.

taxi gps atlas

by getting a GPS, or looking it up on mapquest.

Could my family who are non swimmers enjoy Hawaii? -

I find it ironic that my mom wants to go to hawaii but then my dad is obese, mom is conservative, little brother is lazy to swim and I am a less average swimmer. So what can we do?

Few people actually SWIM at the beach. They play in the water...up to about waist deep. If people want to swim, they generally swim laps in a pool. You can all enjoy the beach and the water...play beach ball, build sand castles. splash around, enjoy the beauty, park yourself in a beach chair under an umbrella and listen to music, read, take a nap Then go to the great restaurants, visit other sites on the islands.

There are lots of things you can do in hawaii besides swim. You can go horse back riding, hike through the rain forests to see waterfalls (and ridiculously cool scenery on the way), para-sail, jet ski, go to art galleries, shop, learn about the culture, go to a luau, see the dole pineapple plantation (and eat pineapple ice cream)... the list goes on. Of course, it helps to know what island you are staying on. I would recommend oahu, because that is the island with honolulu, waikiki and pearl city, where most of the population of hawaii lives. You will probably have more choices of what to do there than on the other islands, though the big island has volcanoes if you wanted to see them.

It s not a problem if you don t plan to swim. There are many other things to do. You can just relax on the beach or in a park, hike in a rainforest, do a circle island tour (either rent a car or book a tour), go sightseeing, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, visit the Bishop Museum, Pearl Harbor, Sea Life Park, Waikiki Aquarium, Honolulu Zoo, Dole Plantation, the North Shore, etc. Here s a link to Oahu attractions http://www.to-hawaii.com/oahu/attraction

Of course! You can go biking, hiking, hunting, volleyball, climbing, rappelling, soccer, baseball, tennis, cricket, akito, judo, polo/equestrian, ride your car or motorcyle around the island...pick up the 100 things to do in Hawaii magazine when you go there.

Walk around and enjoy the tropical paradise.

sure you don t have to be an exceptional swimmer to enjoy hawaii? why would you think that?

Does anyone know about any outlets where i can go shopping in Orlando, Florida? -

i remember that a few years ago i went to a place where there were lots of outlets of many famous brands like Tommy, Guess, Gap, etc. but i was so young and i don t even remember the name of the place and i m going there soon and i want to go back there! can anyone please help me?

You have alot of malls in Orlando, but the outlet malls are the best IMO.They are:Prime Outlet (close to disney, can be seen from I-4)The old Beltz Outlet that also has Festival Bay shopping. This one is off from I-4 by Universal Wet n Wild. This one is much bigger has alot of nice shops near by also. I go to this one at least once a month.

Find Orlando mall directories and coupons at http://www.orlandocouponsfree.com/shoppi

Orlando Prime, right near Disney on I-4. Great outlets

Is Virginia Beach in North Carolina? -

I am REALLY confused. Someone said that they were on vacation in North Carolina, but when they came back they said they just got back from Virginia Beach. Welcome back Dana! I missed your wit and intelligence. Answers has been pretty boring without you. Quest

The city of Virginia Beach, which is in Virginia, actually borders the communities of Knotts Island and Carova Beach in North Carolina.

It s in Virginia. If they vacationed close to the border of VA and NC (such as in Elizabeth City, Camden, or other cities nearby VA), they may have visited VA Beach during their vacation. Because in those cities, VA is like 30-45 minutes away.

Just googled it for you and it is in Virginia. I would of said duh! virginia beach but a lot of places are named from other places and not really from there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Be

Virginia Beach, Virginia.

I m from north carolina and have played many soccer tournies in virginia beach which is indeed in virginia! it s just pretty close to the border

Honolulu/Waikiki New Years Eve? -

Some friends and I will be on Oahu (from Kauai) for New Year s Eve. I was there last year for NYE and had a great time at Pearl (Ala Moana) and The Yard House (Beachwalk). Looking for suggestions for other fun places to go this coming Dec. 31. Mahalos!

Waikiki is probably the best place. It s a blast, but half the people are hammered, so watch out.

Am 27 years old female, going to vegas in november last week, pls let me know the follo? -

1. Do I need to take woolens? 2. Do I need any evening dresses and what kind? casual or party types?3. What type of shoes should i wear on jeans...straight cut, boot cut and stretch jeans? I have knee length boots but they are with heals...are they ok in casinos? 4. Overall what kind of clothes are needed in vegas?5. Also its my birthday so what kind of dress should i wear as i will be having dinner with my husband?

Because Las Vegas is a desert, the difference between the daily highest and lowest temperature is quite big. During the day it would be around high 60 s F or low 20 s C, at evening low 50 s F or low teens C, or even lower. Because you would most likely to be walking around the strip at night, you need a sweater and a coat. Whether you need an evening dress would depend on which kind of club you would go to. There are so many different types, you could choose to really dress up or just be casual about it. People from all over the world go to Vegas, there is no dress code, you can dress however you want. But if you want to feel hip, straight cut with boots should look great. Many women wear heels in casinos. My advice is since it s your birthday, dress up as sexy as you can go. There are many world class restaurants in Vegas to give you a good time. At the same time, you can go as casual as you wish, it s the sin city baby.

1 The temp should be 50 s except once the sun goes down the temp drops to 402 Dress is casual. Business casual is required at a few exclusive restaurants and hip dress at clubs3 Wear your most comfortable shoes. Casinos just do not allow bare feet4 Layer for changes in temp but be comfortable. The type of clothings does not indicate to the casino your weather5 Wear a dress hubby loves, to please him not others

Wear what you want, when you want type town!(some establishments require better dressings.)Never heard of woolens.Have your id handy at all times!

LOOK LADY ITS VEGAS. GO NAKED!!!! NO ONE CARES !!!!! I LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

What are the crowds like for Disney World the last part of December? -

I am going on a trip to disney world from december 28th to january 3rd. I have heard from numerous sites that the crowds are horrible. But I also understand that anytimes that kids are out from school, the crowds are bad. I have gone to disney world numerous times during spring break. Even though they are crowded, we have learned to manage our time and still enjoy! So my question is how are the crowds that week im going, compared to spring break weeks?

Between Christmas and New Year s is the busiest time of year at Disney World. It is also the most expensive. Spring Break isn t as crowded because not every school is out at the same time, so families vacation all throughout March and April. The week between Christmas and New Year s is an off week for all schools as well as many smaller places like doctor s offices, dentist s offices, etc. There are also a lot of day trippers during these times, and especially this year since the holidays fall on a Friday giving a lot of people a 3 day weekend.Make sure you arrive at the parks early and plan to spend the day in the park. The parks can and do reach full capacity. Also, grab your FastPasses early... they can run out by 10:00am if not earlier depending on the park, if it is Extra Magic Hours, etc.

from dec 21st to jan 1st is literally the most crowded time of the entire year. its much more crowded then spring break time. the parks fill to capacity between xmas day and new years eve. on nye they will fill to capacity well before noon. the wait times are outrageous even for the rides there usually don t have a long wait time. for example jungle cruise which only has a wait time of about 10-30 minutes will have a wait time of about 90-120 minutes during this time. you are packed in like sardines and just walking from point A to point B is like waiting in a line. its soooo crowded that they actually have cast members with light wands directing traffic and saying stay to your right, stay to your right.i mean don t get me wrong it can still be fun and enjoyable but you need to be prepared for LONG days and eexcruciatinglypainful feet.

It will be busier than spring break crowds. Dont expect to get on a lot of rides that day. Most of the day at the parks it will be packed. Lines will be around 2 hours avg. Line for everything including the bathrooms.

Massive crowds, all day, you will feel like a sardine

Day trip to New York. Where to shop for cheap clothes? -

Hi,I m taking a day trip to NY tomorrow looking for clothes. Would Chinatown or the Garmet district be the place to go? I d really appreciate some advice..Thanks

Neither. Try the ladies mile area that runs along sixth avenue between 14th Street and 23rd street. You can hit Burlington Coat factory, Filene s basement, Marshall s and Loehmans (Loehmans is one block west at 7th Avenue and 18th street.)Or you may want to hit New York s historic textile district which is located between Wall Street and Tribeca. Clothing stores in this area include: Century 21, Dijone, Daffy s, Syms, Dress Barn and many others. Look for the stores on Nassau Street, lower Broadway, Broad and Rector among others. There is also superb shopping at the South Street Seaport, although not as cheap.

You could try the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. If you are fine with the rails, follow the MetroNorth train tips below and be sure to hold on to your rail ticket. When you get there, take the ticket to Customer Service in the Tower Building (or Food Court) for a complimentary VIP discount coupon booklet.http://www.mta.info/mnr/html/getaways/ouhttp://manhattan.about.com/od/newyorkcitThere is a blue bus that goes and back that might work out better if you plan to pick up lots of stuff.http://411newyork.org/guide/2007/04/03/cHappy shopping.

Where is a very conservative and christian place in the US with lots of snow? -

colorado springs, co. Evangelical capital of the world. no joke. look it up. Pretty much anywhere in the mountain time zone...colorado, wyoming, idaho

I can give you some names, but the truth is there are lots and lots of places. Start looking anywhere within 100 miles of the Canadian border. Then, look for small towns (less than 10,000 people) that are at least 100 miles from any city of that size or larger. Those places will very likely be very conservative and Christian.

Try Utah, tons of snow there in the cold season, and plenty of christians, mostly latter day saints.

Idaho, Utah, Alaska, Wyoming
