So im in Oxnard California and i need a place to live? -

I have no money, no car, nothing i just moved out here and i need some advice, i have nothing, and im looking for everything, and im willing to do anything where can i post stuff to find someone to let me stay with them other then craigslist ive already done that

So you re basically a homeless girl on the street?Get a credit card.Book a flight back to where you came from.Get a job.

You can move to Seattle or Dallas where they have more job opportunities than here.Sorry. California is no longer the land of opportunity like it once used to be.

I thought this was just a road trip. What happened to your friends? And whose bright idea was it to move here?If you had asked us before, we would have told you not to come out here without skills, money, and a plan. Here s my stock answer:Most people who ask this question are unprepared, unrealistic, with no money, no experience, no skills, (no visa), and no plan.If you are outside the United States, you will need a visa. The nice folks in the immigration forum can help you with that.Next, you need a plan: First item on the agenda is rent. A decent 1BR apartment in LA currently goes for $1200, give or take. Nicer areas and areas closer to the beach are much higher. Don t expect to move to Santa Monica and get an apartment on the beach for that much. Or Toluca Lake, or Beverly Hills. Next, you will need a car. Los Angeles is VERY spread out, and train service is extremely limited. If you don t have a car, you will have to take a bus, which takes 3 times longer to get anywhere than a car. All told, it generally takes about $3,000 per month to live here. If you don t have a job that pays that much or skills that can get you that kind of job, stay where you are. If you are unskilled and work for minimum wage (or for tips like bartending or waiting tables), you ll only make about $1200 per month. And speaking of jobs, they are rather hard to come by now. College grads seeking employment are having a very tough time of it right now, since the job market is flooded with experienced people who were laid off. Unemployment is over 12% right now. Not exactly the kind of job market you want to move into. Finally, you will need money. Landlords want first month s rent and a security deposit up front. You ll need money for food, transportation, utilities, etc. The consensus in this forum is that you need about $7500 to start out.So there s your plan. And please don t tell us that you have dreams of being an actor or singer. That sets off another alarm. We already have a million (literally) wannabe actors in this town. Dont even get me started.Best advice I can give you is to catch the next plane back to Florida. As Jeff Probst says, I got nothing for you .

Does the final of the Amazing Race on Sunday finish at one of the Casinos on the Las Vegas strip? -

The finale is in Las Vegas but I saw a preview of Phil standing somewhere outside for the place where the teams end up at the finish and it wasn t at a casino. Watch the clip on CBS.com and you ll see what I mean.

Are there any airports on the Delmarva Peninsula except Salisbury and Ocean City? -

thankks.

http://www.salisburyarea.com/bizgov/tran Looks like Salisbury-OC is really it, according to it s website. Then again this is the Delmarva Peninsula we are talking about. It s far away enough from Baltimore/DC and Philadelphia metropolitan areas that that the peninusla isn t densely populated area except for the summer time when Ocean see it s annual tourism, and that is more less Ocean City itself and other nearby beach resort towns in the area like Rehobeth (Delaware). Are you planning on visiting the Delmarva area? If that is the case then the closet major airport is BWI, and the only way you are getting to Delmarva is to drive or have someone drive you there, in which case it looks like you should check out the bayrunner shuttle from the airport in the link I sent you.

How can you get from Riverside, CA to LA without a car and how much does it cost? -

If you can t rent a car, what kind of transportation between these cities is available?

Greyhound IS still in Riverside. The round-trip price is about the same as for Metrolink train - around twenty dollars. Maybe you can check the schedules for Greyhound and Metrolink with the links others have provided and see which times best fit your travel plans. I ve taken both Greyhound and Metrolink in the past few months and found both of them to be safe and comfortable. But one thing you need to think about is the train goes to Union Station in Los Angeles, which is a MUCH better location to make connections to other public transit in LA, including the subway and gold line. It s a real nice station and across the street from Olvera Street.

sheshe what a lot of crappy answerfirst greyhound no services Riverside in the first place (the city evicted them)the best way is to use metrolink during the week they have two routesthe riverside line and 91 lineon the weekend *some* trains on the san bernadino line are extended to Riversidealso certian times of the day RTA has an express commuter bus to Montclair metrolink stationweekdays only at montclair you then can either take metrolink or foothill silver streak into LosAngeles

Metrolink is the best option.See www.metrolinktrains.comThere are 2 lines, the Riverside line and the 91 line.

Metrolink will take you between Riverside and LA. I don t the know the cost, but I suspect a roundtrip ticket would be at least $10 unless you buy a monthly pass.

I m pretty sure Metrolink goes there, but just do what TravelMark (above) says he knows this stuff like the back of his hand...

Try going to www.greyhound.com for bus schedules and fares.

i live in riverside, and i go to la almost every weekthere isnt anything. just the car. im sorry : /

Want a laid back family neighborhood in hawaii? -

not buying just going to rent but want the kids to be accepted-what schools and neighborhoods does anyone suggest in hawaii?

On the island of Oahu, I d say Kapolei/Makakilo-I was born and raised on Oahu and lived in Makakilo my whole life. I went to elementary, middle and high school there. There is a mixed race of everything at the schools there. I would highly recommend Ko olina. A lot of mainland people move there, I ve babysat for numerous families living in there. It is a HUGE gated community, the beach and freeway entrance are only 2 minutes away. Also, avoid Waianae, Nanakuli and Waipahu.

It s probably easier to say where you shouldn t move. I am assuming you are Caucasian from the mainland. Avoid Kalihi, Palolo, anything west of Pearl City. You want to be living in an area with a mixed population that includes others that are similar to you. The areas I mentioned tend to be more local not as welcoming to outsiders. This is all on Oahu, which is the only island I know well enough to comment on.

We need more information. Hawaii isn t a big state, but there is a decent amount of land area spread out over 8 islands. Which island are you planning to move to?

Transportation around NYC amp; N.J. ? -

How much does it cost in tolls crossing from N.J. into NYC on the bridges and tunnels ? Also how much does it cost to ride the Staten Is. ferry to Manhattan and how much is the parking fee at the docks in Staten Island ?

The toll on Port Authority bridges and Tunnel will range from $6 to $8, depending on the crossing. In regards to the Staten Island Ferry, the ferry ride is free, but parking at the St. George Terminal on Staten Island will cost you about $5 to $10 or more a day.My advice, take NJ Transit straight into Penn Station in New York City.Good luck

Which would be the best airport to use when traveling to Parsippany, NJ? -

I m trying to arrange a business trip to Parsippany, NJ and need advice on the quickest or closest airport to fly into. Any hotel suggestions would be great too!

Do whatever it takes to fly into Newark, airport code: EWRThe other New York City airports will be an absolute nightmare to get to/from Parsippany, trust me!The 1st link below is a map of the route from Newark Airport to Parsippany, and, just for comparison, the 2nd link is to a map of the route from Parsippany to JFK... see what I mean?Good luck!

Go with Drew, and go Newark. No confusion getting out of there. Simple, easy, direct.JFK s brutal getting in/out.There s the Sheraton Parsippany hotel, visible and off Route 80E ($89) and near 287. I drove past there when I commuted.Good luck

Try Newark now called Newark Liberty (EWR). Its already in New Jersey and you wont have to deal with getting out of New York.Second choice Laguardia. Its in New York City still, but its better for domestic flights and you can still stay in Jersey and fly out of Laguardia (LAG)Last choice JFK. Remember there is a flat rate from both New York airports by taxi (yellow cab) to Manhattan of $40.00 private cabs and limos can do anything they want. Same deal fly in to JFK stay in Jersey, fly out of JFK.

In Colorado do they have 2 categories of Universities like they do in California? -

UC and CSU is what they have in California (I.e. - Cal state Long Beach, Cal State North ridge , etc, University of California San Diego, one for every major city for the most part.) There are also a few religious and private Universities in California but It s mostly either UC or CSU. Is this the way they name 4 year colleges in Colorado also?

The University of Colorado has 3 campuses in its system and Colorado State University has 2 campuses. (There are far fewer cities in Colorado than in California, esp. large cities.) There are also many private colleges , community colleges and several religious colleges.

I don t really understand what the difference between UC and CSU is, you didn t explain it. The two major ones are the University of Colorado (CU) and Colorado State University (CSU). There is also University of Denver (DU) and University of Northern Colorado (UNC). There are also lots of private universities. There s no ranking between UC or CSU...
