Im moving from Philly to the southeast (SC, GA or FL). How do I pick a moving company and not get scammed.? -

Thee are so many different fly by night moving companies and I need help on how to choose a moving company and not get scammed.

Here are a few tips that the moving company is not on the up and up:1. Many scammers prefer to give oral quotes over telephones and do not offer to enter into any contract in writing. 2. They are really not interested in inspecting the goods that are to be transported by visiting the premises and making an accurate estimate. 3. They quote prices that are ridiculously low and insist on deposits in cash. Several moving companies which have created online presence possess nothing more than a van and a logo. They paint the logo on to their van and quote for moving bids undercutting the competition.Get at least 3 quotes and if one of them is ridiculously low, throw it in the trash. Usually it is a good indication that they are going to scam you. Quotes should be be competitive. Ask friends for recommendations and going with the major carriers carriers is usually a safe bet. Remember the saying, You Get What You Pay For .

Don t use a fly-by-night company. Use one of the majors . Your phone book will have lots of them listed. You could also use Angie s List to see comments from past clients.
