Alaska or Maine. Where would you rather live and why? -

I am writing a story, or thinking about it anyway, and I am torn between these two places. They both fascinate me. So...just curious what others think.

Enough stories already took place in New England. I would choose Alaska, it s wild and (in many places) uninhabited. People searching for a new life go there. it s a place in America that still has mystery. I d rather live in maine, but if i were writing a story it d be about alaska.

well i live in maine and i would pick here over alaska--alaska is a little too remote and far away..here in maine I can easily get away too the mountains and remoteness but then come back to civilzation at the end of the day

Alaska because I love the wide open spaces and nature.

Maybe you sould set your story in a place that you know about, rather than a state you are less familiar with.

Both seem good, But i would go with Maine being by the water and all.

Is Milwaukee a city or state ? -

All of my friends are saying Milwaukee is a state but they would never believe me so i don t start a arguement

Milwaukee, Wisconsin Wisconsin is the stateMilwaukee is a cityhttp://www.mapquest.com for proof

You have to be kidding. What, these kids don t pay attention in Geography class... It just re-enforces my lack of faith in our public schools. It also re-enforces my belief that kids today are spending too much time on the Internet and that parents should be cracking down and making them study instead.

Da, don t you know the fifty states song. its not a state its a city. Please learn the state song. it will help.

Well here, I ll end the argument for you:Milwaukee is a city. Period.

Texas i need your help!? -

I m planning to get my own place (apt) .and I want to know what city would be best to live in . I was thinking plano,tx ..but I want some where a little cheap and safe! Because I will be on my own I m 22 no kids no much family , an no friends and I want to be comfortable..is the any nice safe citys you would suggest?????

It really depends on where you plan to make your living at. It can take sometimes 1h30min or more to make it from one side of the metroplex to the other. The main thing would be to avoid South Dallas, East Fort Worth, East Arlington, Northside Fort Worth, Central Irving. The best rule of thumb is if the apartment looks like a really good deal it is generally not the safest place. I lived in a $380 a month apartment in Arlington in what was considered a good neighborhood and that individual complex was a haven for pot and meth production. There was constant drug trafficking 24/7. I did not know this until I signed a lease. You may be able to find a good inexpensive safe place to live in Hurst, North Richland Hills, Bedford. These areas have nice older apartments at decent rates and are safe cities to live in. They are also convenient locations with lots of shopping and restauarants nearby. Before signing a lease make sure to see what goes on at the specific apartment you choose. Many times peaceful apartments during the day can become a haven for criminal activity after dark.

Plano would be the ideal place to live if you want a reasonable price and low crime. Here are some apartment communities that are in safer areas.Post Legacy - Awesome area! You will love it!Studios start at $550http://www.apartments.com/summary.aspx?pLegacy Village - Nice!http://www.apartments.com/summary.aspx?pValencia Apartmentshttp://www.apartments.com/summary.aspx?phttp://www.apartments.com/summary.aspx?phttp://www.apartments.com/summary.aspx?phttp://www.apartments.com/Results.aspx?p

Plano is good and so are the nearby communities of Frisco and Richardson. Or you might try Arlington over in Tarrant County, near Fort Worth. But, I m curious. Aren t you interested in finding a job? or a college/university?

Most of Plano is okay, but there are some areas you want to stay clear of.Plano, Allen, Frisco, and parts of Richardson will be fine.

If you re a chick, then yes, Plano is good. If you re a dude and like to fish, Lake jackson is your best bet.

I want to move to the Olympic Peninsula but dont know exactly where...? -

Somewhere that s small town-ish, as in not more than 15 or 20 thousand people.Thanks!.........And please don t say Forks...please.

Just to make sure you understand:Living on the Olympic peninsula sounds really great and all.Yet, The facts of the matter are; Unless you are independently wealthy, have a fat retirement income, or a sugar daddy, you will have a hard time scratching out an existence in any of the communities on the peninsula. Population size as of 2000Port Angeles: 18,397Shelton: 8,442Port Townsend: 8,344Forks 3,192The only city in your size range is Port Angeles. It s mostly retirees and lumber mill employees. There are no opportunities. Shelton is really small and poor. The median income for females is $23,617 versus $25,215 for females in Port Angeles. If your ambition in life is to make $12.00/hr. then, go for it. Just bring plenty of cash to get started. Go out into the world. make your fortune. Get some experience, learn, grow, go off to college, have a life, drive over and enjoy everything the peninsula has to offer on your weekends. Then, consider joining the retirees in Port Angeles.

Are you going over here to retire? Then pretty much anywhere is nice, but there are a lot of areas with very few people. (Like Forks...)Do you see a need to have some form of employment at any point in your future? Then that kind of limits you to the east side, as the rest of the peninsula is pretty empty of people.Artist? If so, I would recommend the Shelton area (where I live) as it offers easy access to the Evergreen art community at Evergreen State College. (Olympia)Care for the ocean? As much as I love Port Angeles/Port Townsend, I prefer the ocean to the Straight, and would recommend Grays Harbor county (South of the harbor, which I guess technically isn t on the peninsula anymore).I love all areas of the peninsula though, would be hard for me to pick a favorite place.

i won t because forks is in the middle of nowhere on the western side! most of the olympic peninsula is mountains and national parks, forests and a lot of indian reservations the best places are on the east side like shelton?

Port Angeles has a population of about 18,000 and is one of the (in my opinion) best places in the United States to live. More Info:http://www.ci.port-angeles.wa.us/
