How do you perceive a fashion buyer? -

If you were at a party and you asked someone what they do for a living, and they say fashion buyer, what would you think?

I suppose I d ask what that means. My first guess would be that it s probably someone who works for a retail store and buys fashion clothing from wholesalers, but I ve also heard of wealthy individuals hiring people do do their shopping for them, so that possibility also came to mind. Anyway, I d say it would be a way to get a conversation started because most people probably would ask just exactly what the job entails.

New York City? 10 points best answer? -

I been googling New york and stuff and ive gotten hell confused...Is washignton park (central NY, Albany Metro) in Manhattan? Cos its near Maddison Ave but Central park is near Maddison Ave and ive looked on all maps and they dont seem to join up?Is Central NY, Albany Metro, like in the middle of the city itself?Im from Autralia so its all real confusing. :S

The maps do not join up because they are maps of different cities. In the U.S., there are many places with the same names as each other. This is especially true of places named for Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Kennedy, who were especially famous Presidents of the U.S.Manhattan is in New York City. Albany and New York City are over 100 miles apart. They each have a Madison Avenue and they each have a Washington Park. Neither Washington Park is in Greenwich Village. The park in Greenwich Village is Washington Square Park.Albany and Manhattan each have a Madison Avenue. These are not the same Madison Avenue. These are two different Madison Avenues.Washington Park in Albany is near the Madison Avenue that is in Albany. This Washington Park and this Madison Avenue are not near Manhattan.Central Park in Manhattan is near the Madison Avenue that is in Manhattan. The park that is a landmark in the Manhattan neighborhood of Greenwich Village is Washington Square Park, not Washington Park. The park in New York City that is called Washington Park is in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene.

Washington Park is NOT in Fort Greene! That is Fort Greene Park. Washington Park was the original name a park in the neighborhood of Park Slope-not far from Fort Greene. This park had been renamed J.J. Byrne Park in recent years, but just last year was re-named Washington Park. That s it s name now. Report Abuse

Albany is over 100 miles north of New York City. Central New York usually refers to the center of the State of New York, which is about 100-150 west of NYC and 60-100 miles north of it, e.g. the Finger Lakes Region. Central New York thus is not the same as Central Park . Central Park is a large park in the middle of the Manhattan borough of New York City. Madison Avenue runs a block east of its north-south boundary. You re probably also confusinig Washington Park , a short street in Brooklyn and Washington Square Park a park (and section) in lower Manhattan, in the area called Greenwich Village .The attached map link may help you visualize what I m talking about.

First of all, there are many, many places named Washington in the U.S. Washington was our first president and as a result, there are several parks named Washington. Second of all, there is a difference between the State of NY and the City of NY (aka New York City - NYC.) New York City is IN New York State. The state is the larger entity - it is one of the 50 states in the United States of America. Like Queensland is a province of Australia.New York City is a city within New York State. It is the biggest city in New York State, as well as the biggest city in the United States. Central Park is a very large park in New York City (in the borough of Manhattan.) There is a smaller (but very significant) park in NYC called Washington Square Park, in a part of Manhattan called Greenwich Village. But even in New York City, there is another park named for George Washington! I live in Brooklyn (which is also part of New York City) and across the street from my house is Washington Park! However, it sounds like the Washington Park you mean is in another city altogether called Albany, NY. Albany is the capital city of New York State, but it is far smaller than New York City, and it is about 2 hours away from New York City. Although the State government is there, it s a prettty sleepy town over all. I hope I ve answered your question in a way that is understandable!

Washington Square Park is located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan. This is also the neighborhood where New York University is located. The park is small, therefore it does not shop on most NYC maps.Good luckNative New Yorker

OK, it seems that there s a Washington park in Albany, right near Madison ave.Albany is a few hours drive from NYC.

Is it better to move my things on my own or use a moving company? -

I plan to move within the next 3 yrs to either Nevada or California from Cincinnati, OH. I was wondering if it was better to use a moving company to move my belongings or transport my things myself. The big things that I have is a computer desk. 3 dresser drawers. A bunk bed. 2 tvs. I kitchen table with 4 chairs. An entertainment center. A crib. Changing table. And stereo. Everything else likes clothes and odds and ends can be thrown into boxes.... I plan to buy a new living room set and bed when i get there. What do u think would be my best option? MOney wise.

Sell all the big stuff. Buy off of craigslist.com or recycler.com when you get to CA.PODS run about $2,500 so they are NOT cheap.U-haul trucks are not exactly a bargain but probably would be economical as compared to using a mover or getting a PODS to move your stuff. They are in the range of $1,500 one way and a lot depends on the size truck you need. If your vehicle can tow you might consider a small trailer as for the stuff you don t sell and want to haul that would be the most economical.Good luck.

It does not seem you have that much furniture and belongings to move. Moving companies are very expensive especially when it s such a long way from OH to the west coast. It is better to lease a moving truck from U-Haul or Penske or Budget and move and drive your own stuff. Better still, you could sell all your furniture locally and get all new (used) furniture for your new home. You can then put the boxes and stuff in your car(s) and drive down there. Any extra clothes can be sent down there by Greyhound, it s cheaper this way.

Using a U-Haul truck won t be inexpensive, either. You pay by the mile, in addition to the daily charge for the truck. The option of selling everything and just moving clothes and personal items makes sense.

I ll agree with the idea of selling what you can before the move, then shop around for rental trucks. Sometimes, you may be able to get special deals.
