I am considering moving to the Denver area, what the best areas to live? -
Oh jeez, NOT Aurora!!! I would never live there! Up scale - highlands ranch, castle rock, parkernice people - golden, lakewood, arvadasafe - golden, lakewood, castle rock, parker most of the places i listed are all of the above but they are the tops of their ranks...people here are ok drivers UNTIL it snows, then you can tell who has driven in snow and who hasn t.Colorado is a melting pot of people, you get a little bit of everything.
Cherry creek is upscale but parts are oldPARTS of downtown are nicebut you can find nice neighborhoods all aroundjust stay away from east colfax parts of stapletonlowrey is a nice area toohouses are expensive there, i must warn yousorry for the overuse of the word nice but you know...i couldnt *** up with much else to stay
Castle Rock, 30 min. south of Denver. Great family friendly town. We moved here from Jersey 20 years ago, love it here. We have affordable housing and million dollar houses. http://www.townofcastlerock.org
Aurora, but if you are looking to get away from all that Denver is not the place to move.
Things to do in a 5 day trip to South California LA amp; San Diego? -
Best option is to go to citypass.com and buy the SoCal City Pass. They ll give you the best deal. BTW, you only need one day to to Universal, it s not very big. And CityPass gives you 3 days at Disneyland and 1 at Universal, as well as a day at Sea World and San Diego Zoo. Great deal. I ve even used the San Francisco City Pass, and found it s a great value. There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of must sees. Visit as many as you have time for.:Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors cant be wrong. #1 Destination. Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination.Even if you dont visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And theyre free to visit. Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood Highland complex has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater. The El Capitan theater, right across the street, is where Disney shows their movies. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors. Olvera Street/Union Station: Olvera Street is the birthplace of LA, and it emphasizes our Mexican heritage. In addition to the Avila Adobe (oldest building in LA), you can eat at some pretty good Mexican Restaurants, do a little shopping, and taste a churro. If you dont want to go to Tijuana, this is as close as it gets without going there. Union Station has great architecture from a bygone age. Also, you are 2 blocks from Phillippes (see below).Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you ll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. Santa Monica: Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach. Sunset Boulevard began as a route between the stars posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the Sunset Strip on its way.Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping The Price is Right . You might even get in.Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.Getty Museum - The Getty s architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art, architecture, or view better, the Getty is sure to please. Free.Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It s very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show. Check the NBC web site for all the details there.Places to eat:In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.Pinks Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.Tommys Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.Canters Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.Phillippes: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, its hot.Titos Tacos: Voted best tacos in LA, even though its in Culver City. The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.Places to Stay:Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Holiday Inn Walk of Fame, all near Hollywood and Highland. Another one is the Best Western Sunset Plaza. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios.Places to Shop:Third Street Promenade, Santa MonicaThe Grove, Los AngelesAmericana @ Brand, GlendaleBeverly Center, Los AngelesCitadel Outlets, CommerceBrea Mall, BreaThe Block at Orange, OrangeSouth Coast Plaza, Costa MesaFashion Island, Newport Beach

Has anyone moved from ny to florida after being in ny all their lives.? -
I just recently moved to FL after living in MI for 13 years, and my life down here is definitely different. I m probably not too much older than your kids, so I can understand your concern for them. It can be tough making new friends, I ve been here for about a month and I don t really know a ton of people, but it s ever improving. I don t know how the economy is doing in NY, but there are jobs to be had down here (obviously you have the one you re considering moving for, but when your kids get out of HS, depending on how far off that is it could be nice for them). It s definitely going to be a major adjustment temperature-wise here, it was in the 80s and very humid today. Best to move in the winter though so there is time to adjust. Good luck in coming to a good decision for your family!

Where does it snow in Arizona? And how often does it snow? -
Flagstaff gets snow regularly all winter, its pretty cold there. Prescott and Show Low get snow not as often, but it somewhat common there as well. Phoenix gets snow once every 5 years or so, but its the best place to live in AZ. Tucson is a little cooler that Phoenix temperature wise, but not as much to do.
It does snow quite a lot in Flagstaff. But go south to Phoenix(2 hour drive) and it rarely snows there. The weather in Phoenix is really quite nice.It does get a little hot in the summer. But nothing you can t put up with.
Need advice on visiting New York City? -
1- Both December and March are cold, so go in December, when the Christmas decorations are up.2- Yes, Manhattan is where all the tourist attractions are, especially for first-timers.3- Go for a long weekend, in other words, 4 days.4- No, don t rent a car, you ll be taking subways, buses and the occasional taxi exclusively.5- Click the 1st link below for a webpage about three very good and affordable hotels right in Manhattan.6- Follow the 2nd link below to an excellent Things To Do In New York City webpage.7- Follow the 3rd link below for a guide to how to behave as a tourist in New York City.Good luck, have fun, and welcome to the Big Apple!
since you got an excellent answer to all your questions, I ll answer the 2 I feel qualified to answer most, no 5 6. I don t understand why you mentioned hotels in downtown, midtown is really where you want to be, when we went in May this year, we stayed on Park avenue which is quite close to Times square but far enough away that you won t be in the hussle and bustle of it all as it can be quite a tacky place and always busy. there are millions of hotles in various price ranges in Midtown. due to your short time factor, I would stay in midtown and NOT in NJ like you mantioned as that would mean travelling. we walked everywhere cos we stayed so close, we stayed in a hotel called 70 Park avenue hotel, my brother stayed in hotel Jolly, my friends have stayed in Affinia and the hotel Metro, so there are a few you could look at, these are all around the east side, ranging from around 38th street to 34th st, ours was right next to 42nd street which is where Grand central terminal is on, which keeps you central to everything too, if you don t want to walk. with regards to being beneficial to stay in Times sqare, I personally wouldn t stay in a hotel there, but it keeps you central.we went from SCotland and for 7 days for my 40th in May and so we didn t want to miss a thing, we did just about everything there was to do. however if your time is limited, I would recommend statue of liberty, empire state building (at night) top of the rock (during the day) all 3 of these can be done in 1 whole day, huge tip, if you want to go inside the statue you have to book it in advance online so they can do police checks on you after 911, if you just want to see the lady from the outside, then you are able to buy the tickerts at battery park on the day, this will allow you onto the podium, just not inside. we did all 3 of the bus tours, the uptown, downtown and nighttime tour, if short of time, I would stick to the downtown tour and nighttime only, the uptown takes you around Harlem, it does show you where John Lennon was shot and the museum from the film `night at the museum` but we didn t think anything else was worth it if we didn t have time, so I have advised everyone to do the downtown one, as you will see wall st, china town (to pick up your fakes)the freedom tower building site, trump towers, empire state building, little italy, etc, etc. the one tour I would recommend everyone take is the nighttime tour, you meet the bus in Times square about 7.30pm and it takes you across to Brooklyn and you park right under the Brooklyn bridge and you have the chance to get out and take photos of Manahattan in the dark with all the lights on in the buildings, it s an amazing tour, honestly don t miss it if you can help it. we did a few days shopping both on 5th avenue and at woodbury commons which is a seperate tour we had arranged from here, another tour I d recommend if you are interested in it though is the TV and Movie tour that takes you around in a coach to scenes where the cosby house is, when Harry met Sally scenes, ghost busters filmed in the fire station, the NY libraray where sex in the city was filmed and the day after tommorrow as well as lots of other film locations, this is a 3 - 4 hour tour so you ll have the rest of that day to do other stuff. try and make a list of everything you would like to see and then divide it into what needs to be paid for and what length of time is needed for each and then you should have your itinary. remember to walk about and enjoy the city, and DO NOT miss a visit to Grand central terminal, if you do go for a long weekend, try and catch it on Fri and then Sat, it ll be like 2 different places. we arrived on the tue, and went in every day for breakfast and it was mobbed, the day we went to Statue of Liberty on subway was a saturday and I actually thought it was still closed because all the commuters had gone home for the weekend, so it was empty. the whole building is amazing though, you ll be hard to find you can t look stariaght ahead as you ll be busy looking up the whole time, and don t forget to go into the corners and whisper to whoever you ll be with, that s an old thing. try it.Enjoy yourself. hope I ve helped.

Is it expensive to live in california? -
Umm.. yeah. Why else do you see many Californians moving to North Carolina? Even my aunt and uncle moved to North Carolina from California (well technically Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and then back to North Carolina. Lol!)The last time I was in North Carolina, I saw small cottages that are literally a few blocks away from the beach (in nice condition) in Carolina Beach, NC for $275,000. The part of California where I live (Central Coast), that same house would be $800,000 (and it s most likely a fixer upper!)California is pretty much more expensive than any state in the US (excluding Hawaii.)
What an understatement!I live 85 miles northwest of downtown LA, and I pay $1200 for a two bedroom, 1 1/2 bath. The same house in a decent area of LA would easily run twice that, not including utilities. Of course, if you move close to the beach, try THREE to FOUR times that amount. Those amounts are just for rent.Car insurance is super-high and far more expensive than in the Carolinas. This is only scratching the surface.
Umm absolutely... especially in Los Angeles... once you take into consideration the cost of all the gas... car payments... parking meters EVERYWHERE... beach houses don t dip under a couple million... houses in general cost more... taxes... just basically everything costs more... do your research... search houses in Southern AND Central California (San Francisco)... I am sure Northern California is cheaper but it s way boring but very beautiful!... But California is one of the most expensive states to live in...
Yes it is one of the most expensive states to live in...Carolina cost much less. Houses, food everything is less expensive in North Carolina
Very expensive.
yes it is. the cost of living is much higher here. it s higher than most states.
The streets are paved with gold ... It s just the shovel cost 25 million dollars.
yes, most likely. especially in LA
Are you serious??? CA is one of the most expensive states to live in!!
YES....Mexicans do it BUT they they 12 to a room
