Anybody know of any affordable hotels for 4day stay in NYC!? -

I am looking forward to attending a convention next summer in NYC and it seems most of the tellies in the area are super pricey. Is there anything affordable, say maybe on LI or in NJ?

You re on the right track. Last time we went, we stayed in North Bergen, NJ. We saved a bundle over staying in Manhattan. If you re driving, just make sure you have toll and parking money. If you are planning on riding the subway, try to get close to the NJ Transit line or the P.A.T.H., that s Port Authority Trans Hudson. You could try Priceline or HotWire, if you re willing to pay before you know exactly which hotel you re getting. [And if you re savvy with Priceline; I prefer HotWire.] If you want to be in the city, then you don t want to stay in Jersey or on Long Island, especially. The commute will wear you out. You can t drive, as there s nowhere to park unless you want to pay an arm and a leg and then there goes any savings you thought you had with your hotel. It IS expensive to stay in the City - that s just reality. But people I know have gotten good deals through Priceline.

I m driving home to north Orange County for Thanksgiving from downtown San Diego. I ve never driven from SD to OC on Thanksgiving and would like to know the best time to drive to hit the least amount of traffic. Any suggestions on travel time?THANKS!

Leave around 8 in the morning. I remember last year the traffic was horrendous in the afternoon. It was also bad on Thanksgiving night with people returning home after dinner.

For Thanksgiving? Traffic is going to be bad all day. See if you can take Amtrak. If you have to drive, leave as early as possible.

What are some things to do in North (East) Jersey? -

I m driving through the Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken area. Is there anything fun to do during the day ... or should I just go to NYC? I m from NJ (trenton) and i m trying to convince my girlfriend NJ has some cool things to do. Help me convince her!

Often times I find my self spending my afternoons in North (East) Jersey. I live in Vancouver, but I don t like to spend my afternoons here, ya know? So in North (East) Jersey I m offered so many valuable and entertaining activities, many of which are outdoorsy. Are you the indoorsy type? I m both, so you could go to the beaches of North (East) Jersey, I ve never not gone to them while I m there, there are the great ones that I go to there. I hope you have fun at them, year round you can go, but I advise you to bring two towels in the winter ;)

Rent some ladies ... if you know what i mean? your girlfriend will have fun too! just make sure you check that they are into that kinda play before you pay them if your catchin my drift. i tell you, the ladies you ll find there are amazing!!! they do things you ll never even dream of!!!!!haha just kidding!! but seriously....the chicks there... not so hot... but cheap man... like REALLY cheap... they ll do anything for 2 dimes.enjoy:D also visit the wax museum... really fun times
