How is Eau Claire, Wisconsin? -

I m looking into attending the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. I ve always regarded the mid-west as the jewel of this nation. With that, I m curious to know: how are the people out there, and life itself? Would you say that the people who reside in that part of Wisconsin are exceptionally nice compared to other parts of the country? Is it true that they can be racist or gay-hating at times, or is this just a useless stereotype? What are the main political beliefs in the area? Would you say that there is much to do in Eau Claire -- the social life, the city itself, etc? How would you rate the area on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the most amazing in the country?

Eau Claire is friendly, as a trucker I went through there a lot, and there is a truck stop there I would stop at every time. Not the best food but nice people every time. I can not see them being racist as there are many people with various back grounds gay bashers are found every where so I would leave that part out. I have never seen much to do in Eau Claire even though it is not far from a lot of interesting things to do. As a visito I would give it a 7 on your 1-10 scale. Mainly because I found a lot of things I would like to do in nearby areas.
