Looking for short trip ideas in these states: New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts ... any ideas? -

I m looking for a place to visit before or just after the holidays for a few days in these areas but nothing as far as Philadelphia or Boston.

Just after the holidays: the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA(http://www.nrm.org/)...and just being in the Berkshires at that time of year is unforgettable. You ll love it.And from Western Mass., Vermont is only a short ride north. Manchester/Arlington/Bennington: lovely places.Head west from there and you re in Saratoga within 45 mins. Relax in the mineral baths. No tourists, no hassles, no problem.

None of them. Avoid the Northeast in the winter, it is cold and the area is prone to crippling winter storms that can easily ruin your vacation. My advice: come back in the summer when it s nice

Visit the Poconos. They are very scenic and beautiful.http://www.800poconos.com

So whats this nonsense I hear about racism in Austin Texas? -

I thought that this was the cool part of Texas? what s up people?

There are ignorant people found in populations all across the United States, but luckily, since Austin is ranked as one of the more educated and diverse communities in the nation, run ins with racism are few and far between around here. So, you heard wrong this time. I hope this helps.

I ve lived in Austin for most of my life and I have seen very little racism. I m black and I live in a really diverse neighborhood. There are people from Kenya, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Mexico all on my street. One year a woman that worked in Lakeline Mall was caught following black people around the store because she thought they were going to steal things. It was caught all on tape and broadcast on every news station. Everyone was pretty upset.Austin is really diverse. Almost half of the population is Mexican, at this point anyone racist just would nt be accepted.

As much as most Austintes pride themselves on being liberal, diverse, and forward thinking, I m sad to say that there is still a portion of the population that doesn t fit that mold. Frankly THEY are in the minority, so it s possible to encounter them but it doesn t reflect the feelings of the community as a whole. Let s face it, there are people of all kinds everywhere you go.

What would you suggest I do in NYC during the holiday seasons? -

A visit to New York City during Christmas time would not be a trip to New York City during Christmas time without a trip to Rockefeller center to visit the big tree. You most likely will be missing the lightning, as it is on the second of December, but between then and January seventh, the tree will be up, so I strongly suggest going out there to check out the tree. Rockefeller is between 47th and 50th Streets and 5th and 7th Avenues. I would also suggest seeing the Nutcracker , which is a Christmas-themed ballet. It s a magical performance, and it s a fun family ballet, and I would suggest that as well. Also check out SoHo and Canal Street for some fantastic shopping. There are some great miscellaneous items you can find around there, and there is almost everything that you could want and need for the holidays. the Nutcracker ballet information:http://www.nutcrackerballet.net/ Top 10 Things To Do in NYC For The Christmas Holiday http://travelingmamas.com/2008/12/02/top Things to do in New York City at Christmastime http://www.onboardnewyorktours.com/chris How to Enjoy Christmas in New York http://www.associatedcontent.com/articleAll the best ?

Is there a way a can get away from my parents for winter vacation? -

Hi i was suppose to go live with my bestfriend who lives a couple states away for winter vacationbut now my parents are saying i cant. i m so effing mad at them..Is there any program, or something that allows me to be in a safe place, but in a different state far away from my parents. maybe new york, or chicago, or something like that. thanks. i m really into music if that helps.. lol.

When you finish school and are totally financially independent , then you will have the priviledge of making your own decisions. As long as you are dependent on your parents, your decisions are limited. Wanting to be someplace else, having parent problems is common, but, you need to do your best to work out your problems with them...not the answer you probably hoped for...but it is reality.

Key West, FL in February? -

Does anyone know what air temp and ocean temp is at Key West in February? Could we swim in the ocean? Thanks.

I think January is a bit warmer than January where the average low and high air temperatures are 67 F (19.4 C) and 75 F (23.9 C) with mostly clear and sunny weather and little precipitation.I swam in the water late December after a cold snap in a swimsuit without a wetsuit. The locals considered the water to be way too cold and thought I was crazy, but the water was easily 78 F (25.5 C), combined with warm air and sunshine I thought was very comfortable. But I m from Oregon.

Reasons to invest in Disney Company? -

Can someone help me with reason why you should invest in the Disney Company??????? Thanks!!!

Heres a few reasons:- Its the largest enterntainment company in the world- Its a FORTUNE 500 company- Has a diversified portfolio of companies and brands (TV, Movies, Theme Parks, Resorts, etc.)- Has a proven record of high profits and overall success in everything they do. - The company has rich heritage, culture, and history that dates back to it s founder Walt Disney.

if you coming on here and asking why you should invest in disney then you clearly shouldn t invest in disney. look at the company reports and analyze what you find in the reports. you need to have a solid understanding of how the company makes money and how they lose money. disney must prove to you that their are worth investing your money in. not the other way around.

How long is it a drive and does it snow in wilmington north carolina? -

how long is the drive from st.catharines ontario across the border to wilmington nc?

I d check it out on Mapquest.com if you have a starting and ending address. I think it gives an approximate time.

its around a 14 1/2 hour drive depending on how heavy the traffic is. It does produce cold wear during the winter time.

What is my best options for tickets to Walt Disney World Orlando? -

I am 25yrs old and I want to bring my GF, also my age, to Walt DISNEY WORLD!!! I know there is a lot to see there, so I want to stay for a few days. What would you suggest would be the best option? Could I see the whole park in four days? Should I see certain parts more than others? What is a resoanable priced hotel? Thanks for any info you give me!!!

Great vacation choice!Check out waltdisneyworld.com for tons of info...you can even book your entire vacation thru that site. There is no way to see everything in 4 days...we ve spent 30 days there over 4 vacations and STILL haven t seen everything!I highly recommend staying on property...you get free transport around all the parks and the chance to go early or stay late for extra magic hours ...plus there s nothing like immersing yourself in Disney 24/7.Each park is different: Animal Kingdom has a cool safari ride and an awesome roller coaster. Disney Studios is the place to go if you love movies and thrill rides...you can hear the screams from Tower of Terror all over the park. Epcot is THE place to eat as well as explore other countries...but don t underestimate Future World (the front part of Epcot that sometimes gets left out) Soarin is there and it s a great ride (see what different scents you pick-up as you fly over California). And you can t go to Disney without spending time at the Magic Kingdom! Take the train ride around the whole park and jump off whenever something looks interesting. MK is quintessential Disney...and not just for kids!Try to catch the fireworks in whatever park you end the day in...and stay for a parade if you can.As for hotels, Disney offers everything from inexpensive (Pop Century) to outrageous (Grand Floridian)...we like Port Orleans French Quarter for it s beautiful grounds, comfy rooms, and moderate price.Seriously consider a dining plan...there are several to choose from and we ve always found it to be a good deal.Hope you have a GREAT time!

Ive always found that staying at one of the Disney moderate resorts and getting the park hopper pass was the best option. You also get into select parks one hour earlier than just regular ticket holding guests and you can stay until closing and not have to worry about driving back to your hotel, just hop on the bus. You can see the parks in 4 days depending on the time of year you visit. In the off season the lines are shorter. My advice is to figure out what you want to see and what you figure you can skip before you arrive.

I would recommend reading the book The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2010 ($13.59 on Amazon.com). This book will give you every single piece of information you ever could desire about Walt Disney World and is great for people who are visiting Disney for the first time. You can also email the authors of the book with any question you have at webmaster@touringplans.com and they usually will get back to you pretty quickly with a great answer.I hope I could help, and have fun at Disney World!

stay at a hotel on site you can get from your room to the parks free! and you can get in the park a little less i went in march this year what we did was went down on saturday and then on sunday -thursday we went to all the parks it was a 4parks-5day price then on friday we just look around outside of disney then went back home saturday but if you want to get all of it in with time to look around i say you should stay for 7-10 days to get it all in hope it helps

We are also planning a trip so can relate.Tickets via subscribing to MouseSavers / Undercover Tourist or DW tickets will give you secret code coupons from their news letters to allow you to purchase cheaper DW tickets!
