What are Hawaiian laes? -

Actually, Traci, It lei , no s . There is no letter s in the Hawaiian alphabet. I m no student of the language, but I do know it is one lei, two lei, three lei, etc. I wouldn t call them necklaces, either. Lei are garlands of flowers and/or greenery either strung on a string and tied together and worn around the neck or tied down on a flat band and worn around the head. (Haku Lei)

The word is Lei. The Hawaiian alphabet is limited and S is not one of them. They do use it now but not before. It is a garland of flowers, some are tied and others are not. There is various flowers used.

First off its LEIS. A Hawaiian lei is a necklace made of flowers, like you see hula girls wearing!

What are some fun things to do when living in Oahu? -

Ok so I moved to Oahu to live with my fiance in August and of course it was great to be in Hawaii and live here at first. I mean it is kind of a dream come true right? Well it is December now and it sucks here. There is nothing to do, no way to meet cool people, just nothing. Anyone know how to solve this problem? It is making me resentful of my totally perfect fiance because he is the ONLY reason I am here, which is making me so sad. I know people will probably think, what the hell, why are you complaining about living in Hawaii? But seriously it is just a place to live...Any advice? Thanks :)

I can relate to you. I was born and raised on Oahu and after a while, it just seemed like there I did everything there was to do. But the island is always full of adventure. I like to go hiking up Maunawili, at the end of the hike there is a waterfall, you can swim there and even jump off the rocks. Waimea is also a favorite, just a pretty chill beach. If you re in to ghosts and whatever, there is a place called Morgans Corner. Google it, I would never go but I ve heard of some pretty scary stories. I guess you either have to have lived on Oahu your whole life to know everything there is to do... since some stuff only locals know about, but after a while Oahu isn t that bad. I NEVER get tired of going to the beach everyday....and when you compare it to the mainland... nothing measures up to living on an island.

Are you kidding? Nothing to do? No way to meet cool people? You are out of your mind. There s tons to do you clearly have just not made the effort to research the state and city in which you find yourself. To name just two events, last night was First Friday (first Friday of ever month), tons of people going to all kinds of restaurants, bars and art galleries in downtown Honolulu and few select bars in Chinatown. Then there s Last Friday which is obviously the last Friday of every month at the Honolulu Art Gallery, different themes each time.

There are so many fun things to do in Oahu. You could go to the lagoons....waimea falls....try the jump rock. One of the best is to go to the polynesian center, it is great for cultual expiriences. Obviously there are the beaches, great weather. How about going to new resturants or trying a new flavor of shave ice? :)

I have to agree with the others- if you think there is nothing to do here, then you just aren t looking. But I guess you are looking... here on YA. Every Friday the Honolulu Advertiser has an insert that is full of activities for the coming week. The first Friday, it covers activities for the month ahead. Almost anything you might be interested in will be represented there. Photography classes, hikes, shows. There is always something going on. It sounds to me like you are homesick, you haven t really been able to integrate into your new community yet, you are relying on your fiance to meet all of your needs. You need to put some energy into finding out what is out there in the community get involved in some activities.

Trip Ideas in NYC??? HELP!!!!? -

I have to plan a trip for May for Junior Arista in my school. We live in New York City and we usually go somewhere in Manhattan. Do you guys have any fun ideas? I don t really want any museums, I want fun things. Also it can t be Madame Tussaud s Wax Museum or Ripley s Believe It Or Not because we already went there. So please, please, please give me fun ideas. Please and thank you :D

You can go ice skating at the Trump Lasker Skating Rink, Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park, or The Rockefeller Center. The atmosphere is awesome at all them places because of the Holiday Season.

Im looking to Bartend in San Francisco? -

I have a little bit of training but I could use more. I just need a night job that pays well. So I think bartending is my best bet. What should I do? Please help.

Try bar backing. Usually a bar back makes a lot less then the bartender makes and does most of the work that the bartender doesn t want to do, and stays later, but this is the best way to get that bartender position.

CTA Blue line Forest Park Station Parking? -

I have two questions about parking at Blue line Forest Park Station:1. Sometimes if I want to pick up friends there(pick up and go), where can I temporarily pull over my car(I just sit in the car without turning off engine)? Last time, I pulled over near the back door(north exit, near the Bus 17 stop), but it is a little far. So where is the most convenient temporary pull over area near the front door(facing south)?2. Sometimes I may want to take the blue line to downtown, I learned from CTA website that it allows a 12 hour parking for $5. But how is this 12 hour calculated? E.g. if I park at 7:00am, I am sure that I can park until 7:00pm;but what if I park at 1:00pm?Do I need to leave before 12:00am or can I park until 1:00am next day?And is it like I buy a parking ticket and put it in my car after check in? If so, where can I buy the parking ticket? Thanks a lot!

1. I think that you could probably wait on the side of the entrance road to the southeast of the building entrance.2. The last (and only) time I parked at the Forest Park station, I used the lot to the north of the station. As I recall, it was a system like at Rosemont where there are machines that you key in your parking space number and pay. The machine prints out a receipt, but you do not put it on your dashboard. The parking machines are located in a shelter between the parking lot and the station.

Would you rather spend the day in South Central or Tijuana? -

South Central. Be it ever so humble, it s in the good ole U.S.A. Tijuana is in Mexico, a poor, corrupt country with laws based on the Napoleonic Code. I m as close to TJ here in Los Angeles. as I ever plan to go. Besides, you don t have to spend time in Tijuana, my brown skinned cousins are bringing Tijuana here with them.

Tijuana. You can get Lobster with rice and beans and good tortillas for ten bucks. Walk down Revolucion blvd and get pulled into one of those crazy strip clubs. Drink beer and eat tacos for a few bucks. Buy some illegal fireworks, a nice handmade piggy bank, one of those warm blankets and a hand job for about $20.

This is a insensible question, I rather be walking around in Tijuana than in Compton but, I rather be in my car in Compton than in Tijuana.

South Central, I d just stay in my car all day with the air con and McDonalds.

tijuana cuz i ve never been.
