Which hotels are good and inexpensive in las vegas? -

i am planning a weekend trip to vegas with 2 girlfriends...we are looking for an inexpensive, but nice hotel close to all the good things in vegas. i heard there is a part of the strip that is not good to stay on. which hotels are good???

You should avoid the north end of the strip - Stratoshpere in particular is near a seedy area, and Circus Circus and Sahara really aren t too hot either. The center-strip area is the best. Some nice, but reasonably priced, hotels there include Flamingo, Bally s, and Harrah s. Imperial Palace is also in that area, but it s pretty old and run down. But the rooms are clean enough if that s all you want. Can t beat the location.Farther south on the strip, still in a good location, are Excalibur and Tropicana. You can also often find good rates at NYNY and Luxor. Excalibur is probably your best chance in that area. It s a bit kid/family-oriented, but a pretty decent place.

Usually the northern mile is considered not good . That is The Stratosphere, The Sahara, The Riviera, and Circus Circus. These are the oldest resorts, and the neighborhood has a lot of empty lots. It s not really dangerous, but it is seedy. You can easily walk from Stratosphere to several wh@re houses, and to the sex club, the green door which is about to get it s own reality show on TV.------------------------Usually the standard compromise between inexpensive and convenient location is the five older Harrah s hotels 1) The Imperial Palace, 2) The Flamingo, 3) Harrah s, 4) Bill s Gaming Hall, and 5) Bally s. These hotels are safe, and conveniently located near much nicer casinos and nightclubs. They all have access to nice swimming pools. No glamor, but decent rooms. The cheapeast of the cheap is usually the Capri rooms at the Imperial Palace, but it is probably worth spending and extra $15 to stay away from them.

The area you were warned about is probably at the far northern end (like an ealier answer pointed out). That is where the Stratosphere is located. The Stratosphere itself is very nice and very reasonably priced but I would not recommend that women wander off the hotel property after dark. It is right next to some questionable areas. Excalibur usually has some nice deals and is not a bad location. It is actually pretty much at the other end of the strip. Most of the recommendations you got here are good. I would shy away from Hooters though. Nothing wrong with it at all but it is not a convenient location for walking to other hotels and attractions.

Inexpensive, nice, good location. Try Monte Carlo, New York-New York or Bally s.Monte Carlo is the most elegant, New York-New York the most fun, Bally s the best location.Weekends are much more expensive than weekdays. Sometimes twice the price. If you are flexible, check the rates for different dates. They vary according to demand. Below are some promo codes and other useful stuff.*

Hi Lisa,Everyone has had some great recommendations. You might want to consider the brand-new City Center as well. Aria and Vdara have some great promotions going on right now.I work with VisitLasVegas.com, and I recommend that you check out our website before you make your decision. We have a number of hotel listings that will help you find the best hotel accommodations for you. There are also a number of special offers/deals on the site!Hope this helps; have a great trip!

Imperial Palace is a nice, inexpensive hotel. It s also centrally located, near Ceasars Palace and Bellagio. I would advise against staying anywhere north of Riviera. Everything is a long walk away, and not the nicest neighbourhoods either.

Imperial Palace, it is the best price on the strip normally. It is located in the middle of the strip, so close to everything. I like them the best for the price location. How much time do you really spend in your room?? Now the strip is very safe. There are cops everywhere. Fremont Street is cleaned up now too. They did a great job. Just stay smart.http://www.vegas.com/resorts/imperialpal

Anything on the strip is good. If it s on the strip it s either very good or it doesn t stay there for long. The part of the strip that you have heard about is way up at the northern end and that isn t really that bad. Go and have yourself a good time, you ll love Vegas.

Anything on the Las Vegas Blvd. is good - Excalibur, Monte Carlo e.g. have good rates. The best is to book the hotel room with a promotion code in order to get the best price. http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com has the latest codes available.

It is best between the Encore and Mandalay Bay. Do not go north of there. Weekends are very expensive here and can take up a lot of your money. Staying Sunday through Thursday night can save you quite a bit.

Excalibur, Luxor and Monte Carlo are good and inexpensive.http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/special.p

circus circus and sahara hotel.

hooters is right on the strip and by the airport and have very cheap rooms and the bad part is past trump towers

The Strip is fine to stay, all hotels not motels (very few). The best deal would be Excalibur

Where can I park my moped for free in Waikiki in a garage/lot/etc? -

YES i am aware that you can techincally park your moped anywhere (on street signs, sidewalks, random alleyway)...but I am looking for legal, safe, free parking for my moped when I am at work. I work on the Waikiki strip on Kalakaua and am just wondering if anyone knows of any good places to park a moped. For example, I know the Sheraton hotel has a small area for free moped parking. Let me know if you know any other/secret spots!

I would call the police department. Seriously. They ll tell you.

LA vs San Fran. Which is the better city for life, work and play? -

I am moving... but still deciding between LA and San Fran.A bit of info: I am 27, female, straight, single, and just back from working for the China Travel Channel in Beijing as a Production Coordinator and looking to stay put for a minute, relocate, transfer my skills, live in and enjoy the states (i ve been in asia for 4 years!). I am leaving my family s house in AZ right after the holidays and hope to live somewhere that has a great creative, professional social scene. I have a friend in each of these cities, but they have completely different opinions of which place is a better move! Any comments or advice would be fantastic. Thanks so much for your time. Cheers!

I was about 27 when I moved to LA - single, female, straight. I was born in the San Francisco area and moved back here when I was about 50.I much prefer San Francisco. LA is very spread out and it seemed like all of my friends were an hour away. When I lived there, there was virtually no public transportation so you had to drive everywhere. I felt that there was much more emphasis on your looks, car, neighborhood, etc., than there is in San Francisco. The beach is more available in Los Angeles and there are likely to be more jobs in the entertainment industry. It is probably a complete toss up. Try the city that has a job for you and then move to the other one when you get a chance.Enjoy California!

For your type of work. I think LA is better and going out, however San Francisco traffic is not as hectic and crazy.. I lived in SF and would not move to LA, b/c I love it here more than LA. Life is more calmer and I can still go out and do things. If you ask me this question 10 years ago, when I was 20- I would have say LA.

The Bay Area Beats LA Any Day Been Living Here My Whole Life And I ve Visited LA A Few Times It s More Like A Touristy Place Than A Permanent Living Setting

Unless you are independently wealthy or have a Sugar Daddy, where you can find a job might decide where you live first. Good luck. Both places are good - but different kind of life (and clothes). Downside with LA area is the poor public transportation and terrible maze of freeways with heavy traffic almost around the clock. I worked in the Compton, Bell area of LA and was always told by the boss to keep car doors locked when out in the field or someone might jump in expecting to be given a lift. (Yes, it was something that did happen at that time)If you like it warm smoggy (then the LA area) but if you want it cold and sometimes foggy (depending on where you live in SF) go for SF.

I much prefer San Francisco. As a Bay Area native, I love everything about it here. The weather is fabulous, about 80s in the summer and 50-60s in the winter. Things are less spread out here, and being to LA aswell, I feel that the SF people are more friendly. And the nightlife here is fabulous. As for activities, there is always something to do on a boring weekend. Fishermans wharf, window shopping in union square, a ferry to alcatraz, the possibilities are endless! Also, we have BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) which is much like a Subway of the bay area. ALso, San Francisco isnt THAT big of a city, and there is the ever so great Bay area in your backyard, practically! So that means there s even more places to explore :o) But, with both cities you can t go wrong, and it is ultimately your choice. Whatever you do choose, enjoy California! :D

La has warm weather, but it has traffic everywhere. La is very spread out, so you need to own a car and drive. Activities galore in both LA and SF, so this is an even match. SF is air conditioned year round and rarely gets hot. LA gets hot. As far as beauty, I think SF is more beautiful, less spread out. I live north of SF and would never want to live in LA because it is just too busy and I hate the traffic. One more thing, I don t know if you love Asian culture, but SF has one of the biggest China towns in the USA.

It s about a 10-minute walk to the Colma BART station. Go south on Mission one block, bear right at E. Market/San Pablo Road. Take San Pablo about three blocks to Hill Street, turn left. Go one block to Teglia Blvd, turn right. BART will be on your right.

What should I do in manhattan next week? -

Go visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, two landmarks of New York City. To get there by the ferry, you need to purchase round-trip ferry tickets at Castle Clinton National Monument in Lower Manhattan. Ferries from New York operate on a loop, stopping first at Liberty Island and then at Ellis Island before returning to Battery Park, New York.Directions to get the ferry dock:http://www.nps.gov/stli/planyourvisit/puGo visit the Empire State Building, one of the many landmarks of our city. It is located at 350 5th Avenue. To get there by MTA subway, take the 1, 2, or 3 (Seventh Avenue Lines), A, C or E (Eighth Avenue Subway) to 34th Street/Penn Station. Or take the B, D, F, N, Q, R or Path to 34th Street/Avenue of the Americas.Go walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, which is, if I m correct, which I might not be, is the oldest structure in the city. If not the oldest structure, the oldest bridge. To get there, and walk across it, take the 4, 5, or 6 to the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall stop. Another option would be to take the J, M, or Z to Chambers Street.Go visit Coney Island, the home of the world famous Cyclone roller coaster. The amusement park will be closed, especially in the winter time, but the aquarium is open year-round, and sometimes the pier is open, so you can get some snacks -- they have fantastic corn dogs on the pier. To get there by train, take the D, Q N or F train to Stillwell Avenue, which is the last stop. This takes about 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan, and sometimes longer, depending on where you are coming from.Go for a ride on the Circle Line. There are numerous different cruises C one is the Full Island Cruise, which takes you around Manhattan on a three-hour cruise. The Semi-Circle Cruise sets sail on a two-hour cruise down the Hudson offering a stunning panoramic of the famed New York skyline and a close-up view of Lady Liberty. The Liberty Cruise turns 75-minutes into a quick and inspirational way to see New Yorks highlights from the water. There is also a Harbor Lights Evening Cruise, which allows you to view the hotspots of New York City from the water at night. Then, there is The Beast. Its a boat that travels at forty-five miles per hour down the river to the Statue of Liberty. Both cruises are fun and informational, and are a great way to kill some time if you dont have anything to do.Here is the Circle Line schedule:http://www.circleline42.com/site/schedulCircle Line special events:http://www.circleline42.com/site/browse.Go to visit some museums. There are so many, that listing directions to all of them would be a waste of your time and my time, so instead, I will give you a list where there is a list of all the museums of New York City. You can pick some that sound interesting, and then you can find directions to that place, either from the website, or from Google, simply by typing in directions to and insert the museum you would like to go to beside it. Museums in New York City http://www.ny.com/museums/all.museums.htNote: Maps of New York City are at every newsstand, and newsstands are all around New York City. Also, for transportation, there are maps in subway cars and on subway trains, and there are also maps in buses. The maps at bus stops are usually just for the bus route. All the best ?

Can anyone recommend a hotel and restaurants in New York City? -

I need some recommendations for hotels restaurants in New York City.?I ll be in New York for several days the week before December and I m looking for recommendations for hotels and restaurants. I m not looking to spend too much on a hotel (nothing extravagant). I don t plan on spending too much time in the room. Something in a good neighborhood near a lot of things. I m thinking near Times Square.Restaurant wise, I don t want anything too touristy. I ve done that already. I would like good food and service nothing totally vegan or sushi. Any recommendations on things to do for fun while I m there. Daytime nightime.

I don t know too much about hotels. For restaurants, I can recommend a couple of things. Times square and theme restaurants are overpriced and usually mediocre. Two blocks west of there is Ninth Ave where you will find score3s of restaurants where locals eat. Many ethnic cuisines are represented here. They are mostly concentrated between 42nd and 57th street. A little further south, at 37th street is an NY icon known as Manganaro s Hero-Boy. Italian style plates and heroes reasonably priced. Possibly the best Hot Dogs in NY can be found on 7th ave and 37th street at Papaya King. One restaurant that I have always enjoyed going to is a Spanish restaurant simply called Spain and is on 13th Street, just west of Sixth Ave. Skip the appetizers, they will bring several complimentary. Many people enjoy walking around Greenwich Village, which is where this place is. You can also find music clubs in the area. While in NY look at those boxes on the corners with the free newspapers in them, they have a lot of entertainment listings in them and usually come out on Thursday. The best ones for that purpose are Village Voice, NY Press, and Time Out NY. You could also check the internet for their websites.

Where in hawaii can you ride a bike and just walk around? -

One of my favorite vacation spots is Provincetown in Mass. because I don t need a car. Went to Kauai, but I seemed to be driving everywhere. On any Island, are there any small cute beach communities where I can walk and bike everywhere-to the beach, to eat, to shop?

If Ptown is your favorite vacation spot, is it safe to say you enjoy alternative lifestyles? If so, then stay in Waikiki and ride your bike to Queens Beach. You can ride around the park and if you re adventurous you can bike it around Daimond Head over to Kapahulu. It s not a small beach community . it s a rather busy touristy place but it also depends on the kind of lifestyle you want to encounter. There are plenty of great alternative lifestyle clubs in Waikiki as well. The only other small town beach community that might be like that might be on Maui. I wouldn t go bike riding on the North Shore or Haleiwa if you are looking for the Ptown feel.

Aloha!you really dont need to rent a car especially if you are on Oahu. Waikiki is a great place to ride your bike to get around, it is very pedestrian friendly also! If you want to get around Oahu on a larger scale I suggest using The Bus - it goes all the way around the island for a very inexpensive price. Also recommend taking The Bus over to the North Shore and exploring several of the small N Shore towns, they are quaint, fun and a great place to enjoy local surf culture.

Almost anywhere.Waikiki, you don t even need a bike, you can just walk.Kailua is a great place to ride a bike but if you get into Kailua town, just like Waikiki you can just walk.North Shore is also a great place. But like I said, almost anywhere on the island.

If you stay in Waikiki, you don t even need a bike. You can just walk. If you need to a bit farther, take public transportation. To go even further, e.g. north shore, join a day tour.
