Miami is a major global city, it s one of the most important cities, and it s the leader or if not the leader, the top three in everything. There s many Whites (Little Moscow, which is an area that is mostly Russian), many Blacks (Little Haiti, which is a area that is mostly Haitian), many Latinos (Little Havana, which is an area that is mostly Cubans). NYC, L.A which are also major cities also have areas like that (Spanish Harlem, Little Italy), but also have Asian areas (Chinatown). In Miami, there s asians, but not as large as NYC and L.A. There isn t a Chinatown or anything like that. I wanted to know if there s any way to have more asians to live in Miami. It would be the smartest thing for asians to move Miami (Miami is the only place in South Florida that has anything city, and the only place that anything city works and that things like Chinatown can exist) because if they open a restaurant or any type of store, they would be an instant success story. There aren t many, so Miamians would go crazy and all the asians would make so much money. I want some actual answers, not some immature answers, or Miami hate answers. So to summarize the question, how to have more asians in Miami? what can the people do to have more here, word of mouth, etc. Please and thank you, and your answers will be highly appreciated.
Ummm what most these people said is untrue and incorrect. For one, yes Miami was never huge on Asians in the beginning, BUT as it has been documented and as Miamians that pay attention, since years ago, a lot of Asians have moved to Miami and still live here to this day, and more and more keep coming as time goes by. There s even an unofficial Chinatown in North Miami Beach, now even though it s not a real Chinatown, it s a big and good start for a city (even though it s not Miami, but all of Miami-Dade County is considered to be part of Miami) that was never big on Asians. Like I said, more and more Asians keep coming to Miami and for good reason, there aren t many Asians here, if they come here and open up authentic shops, like the NYC Chinatowns and Californias, they will very sucessful in a short amount of time. Second, to the person that mentioned Broward County, Broward could be 90 Asian and there still wouldn t be a Chinatown or Koreatown or anything of that sort because of how Broward County is, it s all suburbs, nothing city or urban, it s made and meant to be all quiet and slow, suburbs, and nothing going, and just stores like Starbucks, extremely expensive, mostly white population, and so on and so on, everything that cities (Miami, NYC) are not. And I have to disagree with what that girl said, yes Miami before was not important in certain things, but like someone said, Miami is a city that things can change in a day, and Miami now is very important, and grows and becomes better and bigger every single day. Like I mentioned before since many years ago, more and more asians came to Miami, and more and more keep coming as time goes by, it s only a matter of time before we see an official Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, etc in Miami. It would be the smartes thing for asians to come to Miami, theres already so many in NYC and Cali, if you go there you will have so much competition and arent guaranteed success, but in Miami, there isnt any competition and theres so many people here that want at least a Chinatown and will support you. You are guaranteed succeess. I could write more, but I doubt me wrting this on Yahoo Answers is going to have such a huge impact. But if any asians are reading this, MOVE to Miami, any place in Miami-Dade County, but Miami preferable because Miami is an actual city, and unlike North Miami Beach which is suburbs, you can actual open shops and be successful. The Chinatown in north miami beach is a plaza , which makes it hidden, and it s not good or success and not a real Chinatown. It s better to go to the city of Miami.
sweetie just no .. i live in miami and i BARELY see asians and it should stay that way. miami is basically hispanics and Haitians (but mostly hispanics)go take over new york or some other city but you will never change the fact that miami is overall hispanics
They re scattered. Most of them are in the West Coast (California) for the obvious reasons.
So to summarize the question, how to have more asians in Miami? There are plenty of Asians in Miami (And Broward County) including a number who immigrated from Latin America the Caribbean. But there is no concentration that can be labeled Chinatown. All of the cities I know of that have identifiable Chinatowns are either in the far west where there was huge Chinese immigration in the 19th century or are a lot older than Miami. Miami practically did not exist before the automobile. It is one of first great Automobile Cities there was no reason for any immigrant group arriving after the automobile to concentrate in any one area to engage in trade commerce with itself. In short: There was no housing discrimination in Miami to force Asians into a certain area all those who arrived after about 1920 had cars.
asians like anybody else move to a city because they like it or because of opportunity. there are plenty of chinese rest. in this city i have noticed not one korean which i love. i think there are a lot in Ca since the proximity to the east from there and in NY because of the ports as well. i think asians are not attracted to this climate and culture either. there are many factors involved maybe they like good public transportation which is not available here. bottom line is you just cant wish them to be here they have to be attracted to the area and they just are not! i dont blame them. Miami is nothing like NYC or LA, very different value system. i love this city but definitely not because of the people that live here. oh and the economy here is nothing short of awful. we rely on tourism!BTW Miami is not an important city financially in the US, nor in education, nor in transportation. this is a sin city, people come here to party and let loose and enjoy the warm weather while it is 20 degrees elsewhere. it is a hub with latin america but does not play an important role in US economy. there are many more asians living and working in orlando.
