Does New York City have a large population? -

Does the NYC have a large Hispanic population and hispanic areas like Los Angeles and other U.S cities.I love the hispanic culture and im gonna be traveling to NYC for new years eve but i will be staying there for a week.I come from Canada so we don t have many hispanics or hispanic areas so im just looking for an area where i can get food from south of the Rio grande and shops that sell stuff .I heard that theres an area called Spanish harlem whats that like and is there more areas around the city ?Thanks for your help

New York City does have a large Hispanic population, and Puerto Ricans are one of the top 5 largest ethnic groups of NYC.Spanish Harlem (also known as El Barrio) is in upper Manhattan. The most famous street of El Barrio is East 116th st. El Barrio basically is from East 100th st to around East 125th st, and is between 5th Avenue and the East River.Washington Heights is another Hispanic neighborhood, and most of the hispanic residents there are Dominican. To get to Washington heights, take the A or C to any stop between 153rd st and 175th st. You can also take the D and the 1 to get to the heights. The most famous corner/a.k.a. the heart of the heights is 168th st and Broadway. In Brooklyn, Williamsburg has a good mixed hispanic population, which is concentrated on the South Side. To get there, take the J and get off anywhere between Marcy Avenue and Flushing Avenue. You can also take the L and get off at Montrose Avenue or Graham Avenue and then walk South from there. Or, you can also take the G and get off at the Broadyway station.Bushiwck also has a Hispanic population, and Bushwick is right next to Williamsburg. As for Queens, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, and Corona have the largest Hispanic Areas. To get to those areas, take the 7 and get off anywhere between 69th st and 111th st. You can also take the E,F, R or V to the 74th st/Roosevelt station. As for the Bronx, Hunts Point, Morrisania, and the whole South Bronx area have a good Hispanic population. To get to those areas, you can take the 1,2,4,5,6 or the D.

Facts:About 8 million people live in NYCKings (Brooklyn) is the 7th most populated county in the U.SQueens is the 9th most populated county in the U.SNYC is the most city with the most Hispanics in the U.SNYC has people from all different backgrounds, and cultures.

8 million, sure, that s a large population.I would say the Hispanic population is one of the largest minority groups in the city. So you won t have any problems finding them in any of the boroughs.

If you can find Yahoo Answers on the internet you can certainly find LOTS of information about New York City! Search engines are your friend.

How to I get from San Jose to Sacramento without a car, plane, or Amtrak? -

Amtrak is having blackout on the days that I need to get to Sacramento. I cannot afford a plane ticket and I do not have a car. I have no idea what I should do.

Your best option as far as safety and cost is Greyhound. No reservations are necessary when you travel with Greyhound. If you know the departure schedule, simply arrive at the terminal at least an hour before departure to purchase your ticket. Boarding generally begins 15 to 30 minutes before departure. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance purchase tickets do not guarantee a seat. When Greyhound fills a regularly scheduled bus with passengers during times of peak demand, Greyhound plans for additional buses to accommodate passengers beyond the seating capacity of a single bus for any given schedule. However, our ability to add extra sections depends on the availability of buses, drivers and the number of passengers. When picking up passengers en route (such as at a rest stop), continuing passengers who de-boarded at the rest stop are given priority to re-board.Greyhound buses travel around the clock, so you can travel by day and enjoy the scenery through wide panoramic windows. Or, select a night service, and relax in a reclining seat with reduced interior lighting. Most buses make intermediate stops to pick up additional passengers en route to their destinations. In addition to stops en route, buses make rest stops every few hours, and meal stops are scheduled as close to normal meal times as possible. If you prefer not to travel on a bus that includes multiple stops en route, be sure to ask your ticket agent about our express schedules, which are available on select routes.Departures for tomorrow as an example:Select Departure Schedule for Sunday, December 13, 2009Select Departs Arrives Duration Transfers Carrier Schedule- 11:20am 03:10pm 3h, 50m 1 GLI 6774- 04:30pm 08:10pm 3h, 40m 1 GLI 6742- 05:05pm 10:50pm 5h, 45m 1 GLI 677011:25pm 03:00am 3h, 35m 1 GLI 6766Here are the fares- One WayNon-refundableWeb only fares. Amtrak runs multiple trips daily between San Jose and Sacramento. The trains do not sell out. Take Amtrak! If you have some sort of promotional ticket with blackout dates, just use the tickets another time.If that does not work for you, another option is to take the ACE train from San Jose to Stockton, then transfer to an Amtrak train that runs from Stockton to Sacramento. This takes more time and probably costs more money, too. See http://www.acerail.com and http://www.amtrak.com for details.

What do you mean Blackout ? The train runs daily to Sacramento from San Jose,Just pay the full fare and use your Blackout tickets for another time. The Greyhound goes to quite a few places in Sacramento so call Greyhound and ask them and then take the light rail system in Sacramento to get you around.edit: Just was in Sacramento Dec 15 and I drove right behind a Greyhound bus and past the Greyhound station

You seem to be *extremely* mistaken. I looked at Greyhound, and there are FIVE buses each day from San Jose to Sacramento.

A few options:Bus or CalTranTaxiHitchhike?Airport ShuttlePay a friend who is willing to make the tripIf you have a driver s license, rent a car

Take you a bus there. I hear the that bus tickets are not that bad.

go by foot, bike, hitchike

take a cab, bike, walk, hitch hike lol

Is there a reasonably priced and spacious resort site in Southern California for a conference? -

We need rooms for break out sessions, meals, and entertainment potentially. This is a leadership retreat for about 70 or so college students.

You might want to try the Queen Mary, in long beach. it might be a little more than most places... but it definitely is an E ticket.

In the summer, any university (UC Irvine, UCLA, etc.) will rent out their student housing. UCLA in particular has a conference center with a large hall, breakout rooms, and dining options, adjacent to housing. A lot of youth groups hold events there when school is not in session. If it s over the school year, then you would have to go with a hotel. Many hotels offer conference packages that include use of their meeting rooms and a discount for overnight guests.

I ll speak only for San Diego on this one. I ve attended training classes here and they were fine.Hilton San Diego Mission Valley901 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, California, USA 92108 Tel: +1-619-543-9000 Fax: +1-619-543-9358 A good friend was the beverage manager here. It is very nice.Sheraton Hotel Mission Valleyhttp://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/pCloser to the beach is the Bahia Hotel. I ve attended xmas parties here. Nice place. The Bahia Hotel on the bay and 2 blocks walking to the ocean.http://www.bahiahotel.com/meetings0.htmlThen there s the Catamaran Hotel. Very nice hotel 1 minute walk to bay and 2 minute walk to ocean. In Pacific Beach zip 92109.http://www.catamaranresort.com/I think the Mission Valley locations will be cheaper. The Bahia and Catamaran hotels will offer you and your group a wonderful time. My #1 pick is the Catamaran.

You might want to look at the Terranea Resort in Palos Verde on the same property as the Trump National Golf Course. It s 5-star and about a year old. I think they have had a hard time since they opened and I see specials for $99 a night.

Has anyone heard of Trinity University in Washington University? -

Trinity is on Michigan Avenue about a block or so from the Immaculate Conception Shrine. It s also like two blocks from Brookland-Catholic University subway station. My best friend went there for a year. She s pretty bright, got somewhere around a 1200-1300 on her SAT back when it was on the 1600 points scale (ten years ago). It may have changed in ten years but back then she didn t enjoy it. I think it s a women-only college and she complained that she didn t learn anything the whole time she was there. They gave her a full 4-year scholarship and she was late applying elsewhere so she took it. After a year she said she wasn t learning anything so she left the school and went to Univ of Maryland.

Trinity Washington University, founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, is a Roman Catholic university located in Washington, D.C. across from Catholic University of America and the Dominican House of Studies. Although it has been a university since September 10, 2004, Trinity s College of Arts Sciences undergraduate program maintains its original status as a liberal arts women s college. Men are accepted into the School of Education and the School of Professional Studies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

I ve heard it of. The current name is Trinity Washington University and it s located in the Northeast portion of Washington, DC. It s not particularly a name school, and the neighborhood isn t the best. Still, it is accredited and they apparently have a large school of education as one of their specialties.I don t know, however, anyone who has taken classes there so can t comment on the quality of their programs.

trinity is a university in washington dc like a few minutes from CUA and my schoolcan u answer mine?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?

Does laxcarrentallosangeles.com have free pick up other than LAX? -

They have picked me up from LAX couple of times before, but do they have free pick up other than there?

Apparently, LAX does so why go anywhere else?

I think the name says it all.

Anyone know a shortcut between LA and Vegas avoiding I-15? -

No i 15 is the best way to go, I know it sucks but it would be way to long to go I40 to Kingman, or I10 to Blythe and then up. Suck it up and go I15 i ve done it on thanksgiving a couple of years ago it is bad sorry.

I-15 is the way to go... there is no way that is more direct, or any faster. The only exception might be IF there were a huge traffic problem... then you can take I-40 to Needles area, then 95 up to Vegas. But that adds 100 miles to the trip, and should only be used if I-15 is blocked for some reason.

A dune buggy? You couldn t go in much straighter a line than I-15.A back-way would be going around Blythe way.

Helicopter or small plane.

What kinds of food are there in a delicatessan in New York? -

A friend is going to NY for the first time (first time to the US) and wants to know in advance what she can order at a deli. She can t speak English and so she s hoping to remember the names of a few popular sandwiches. Also what kinds of bread are there? Bagels, baguettes, rolls? She s terrified of being asked questions she doesn t understand by the waitress. Any other travel advise will be helpful too.

Sandwiches at a deli are ordered one of two ways. Some have a board behind the counter where they will have several possibilities listed. Then just pick the number or name and say it. You may have to name the bread that you want and or the condiment. To custom order a sandwich it is done in this order:MeatCheese, if anyType of breadcondimentextras Something like salami and provolone on a hero with mustard, red pepper and a little onion. In the ordinary corner deli they will have a dozen or so meats, half that many cheese and four or five bread options. You can see that there are easily hundreds of possibilities to customize lunch. Then you may find an ethnic deli with their own cultural specialties, but that is another lesson

There are many different types of delis in NYC. The type it s famous for is the Jewish deli. If she wants a real NY deli experience, she should go to a Jewish Deli and order Pastrami on Rye. I recommended Katz s delicatessen on the lower east side. Though it s a tourist destination (due to When Harry Met Sally I ll have what she s having scene) it s not super touristy and the food is still excellent. http://www.katzdeli.com/ you can view their menu. The Pastrami on Rye is amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.Carnegie deli is a big tourist destination but not that great IMO. Sandwiches are ridiculously huge (meat piled 5+ inches high) and impossible to eat without removing most of the meat.

Your friend shouldn t be too concerned about her English. Chances are very good that there will be someone nearby that speaks her native language.

Easiest thing that will apply to pretty much any bodega is to stick with a sandwich. There are bodegas that offer falafel, gyros, all kinds of foods. Some have grills and might offer things like hamburgers, but some don t. But you ll always be able to get some kind of sandwich, and the basic choices for bread are either a roll or a hero. A roll is smaller and will cost usually about a dollar less for the same thing. Usually you could also order it on a bagel, but some places don t have enough of those to last all day long.So you can order basically any kind of meat, cheese or condiment that you want. Roast beef with swiss cheese and mustard, lettuce and onion on a roll . Turkey breast with cheddar and mayo, on a hero. Chicken cutlet with bacon, lettuce and tomato on a roll. Egg salad plain on a roll. Whatever you like. Just say whatever meat and/or cheese, and whether you want a roll or hero. Most of the time if you just give them a meat choice they ll just suggest something to go on it, so if you don t really care or know what it is, just say yes, that s fine. But your friend shouldn t worry too much about a language barrier. NYC is home as well as a tourist destination to people from all over the world. New Yorkers, especially those in service jobs, are used to communicating with people who don t speak English, and in almost every case won t be offended or irritated by it. It s pretty much a routine part of New York life.

Whats the weather usually like in miami in the month of febuary? -

It is one of my favorite months. No humidity and beautiful weather in the 70 s. Every once in awhile a colder day.

Warm maybe cold sometimes just test it out with your finger like lick your finger and put it in the air it will tell you if the wind blows or which direction it is blowing so try that (LOL)
