What is the easiest way to tour the monuments and memorials in DC? -

I m trying to figure out the best way to tour them at night. I am also trying to figure out the best way to get there and back without walking forever from our hotel. We are staying at the Hamiton Crowne Plaza on 14th and K Sts. I know we can the Metro to Smithsonian Station and walk from there but I m not quite sure of the easiest way to get back to the hotel. Should we walk all the way back to the metro or take a cab?

I live in DC and actually worked across the street from that hotel. You can catch the subway at McPherson Square which is about a block or two from there and ride two stops to the Smithsonian...OR you can just walk from the hotel. My money is on the latter. If you catch the train at McPherson square you can go to Smithsonian and come out in the middle of the National Mall, but you now have an issue of doubling back. You can come out of the train and either head towards the Capitol which is a mile or so away or turn and head towards the Washington Monument. The problem with the Capitol is that there really isn t anything else that way at night b/c the museums close around 5. If you head toward the monument, then you can take pics there, walk down the hill to the WWII memorial and then keep walking toward the Lincoln Memorial. You can sit down on the stairs there and rest your feet, but you have the issue of walking all the way back to the subway unless you plan on going to see the Jefferson and FDR memorials, but they aren t really within walking distance unless you don t mind a good long walk. My proposal is that you can catch the subway to Smithsonian Station and make sure you get out at the mall exit. Then see the Wash Monument, WWII and Lincoln Memorial and then take a few minutes to rest your feet and walk back to your hotel. If you head up 17th Street from the Lincoln Memorial then you ll run right into Pennsylvania Ave and The White House where you can get some more pics and about four blocks up from there is your hotel.

The best and easiest way to tour the attractions in Washington D.C. is to take the Tourmobile. It s a narrated tour plus you get to get off the bus whenever you like. You can reboard the bus as many times as you want during the same day. It s a very convenient and enjoyable way to see Washington D.C.Here is a link for more information:http://www.tourmobile.com

Righteous Indignation got it right. The others here failed to read your first setence which clearly indicated your intentions of viewing these places at night.A few more notes that you already know. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Wear layers of clothing that can be removed as you get warm while walking and put back on as you sweat and possibly become colder.

I am from D.C.! The best time to visit D.C. is definately in the fall early winter cause tourist are one! Take the metro the cabs can screw you over and is much more expensive :) If you have more questions feel free to e-mail me. I am going to ask my mom how to get t o the Hamilton Crown Plaza in a few and then get back to you :)

You can take a tour bus. We walked to everything from the metro you get to stay as long as you like and they aren t that far from each other. I would recommend the night tour of the monuments they look awesome at night. It all matters how much time you have.

You can take the Metro from Smithsonian to McPherson square, and walk to the hotel. If you there are four of you, taking a Taxi may be only a little more expensive...

Is hawaii ahead of me in time or behind i live in chicago? -

When it s early morning in Hawaii (HST), it s late morning in Central time (CST or CDT). Keep in mind that Hawaii does not need or use Daylight Savings Time (DST).

Hawaii is behind you by 4 hours. If it is 9:00 AM in Chicago, it s 5 AM in Hawaii.

Time wise Hawaii is behind just about everyone.

Israel or the US ????????????????? -

I wonder who is better in technology and agriculture and economy bla bla bla.according to the military forces and economically we are the best no question about it,and I think you are better in the agriculture.I hate wars but what if a war was created between us,who will win,as we all know that the Israeli army is undefeated but still your population is much higher than ours so do you think it will end up drawn?!!

Sorry, it s a stupid question, because it s never going to happen.

Man are you delusional.A) The US is miles ahead of Israel in all of those categories.B) If Israel and the US went to war the US could flatten the entire country in a matter of days. If we cared about occupation or what happens after the war it would take a little longer. What are you smoking that you think it s even close to equal?

The one who says ENOUGH we are shaming you to live in peace.

What is the song Vegas Skies by the Cab mean? -

Soo I really love the song Vegas Skies, but I dont know what it is about...lolAny help? Thanks:)

Vegas Skies is about a guy who met a girl and he fell in love with her because she is an amazing person. This girl has a harsh life and a bad boyfriend. He was upset to hear she was having a hard time, and he wanted to help her out. Later, he left without forgetting her and decided to wait for her even if it meant forever, and he did that for a few years then he met her again. They got together and he s extremely happy. This guy is the singer of The Cab, Alex DeLeon, and this is his true story.Like myself, I am going through a similar thing. I am currently in the waiting stage, and it s been 4 months so far. It s rough, but I continue to wait.Search Vegas Skies in the blog for the complete story:http://symphonysoldier.com/page/5
