Closest train station to the grand ballroom in San Fransisco? -

I live by Lodi,Ca and I wan t to go to a concert in San Fran but I don t have a ride. I checked Amtrak and they don t have like anything available for Friday. I need to leave at like 2pm and be back before midnight.Anyone know what train station is closes to the Grand Ballroom departing from Lodi?

If you re set on Amtrak and that schedule you re out of luck. Amtrak doesn t have a train to suit your needs. If you can manage leaving early and coming home early the quickest/easiest route is to take Amtrak to Richmond and then BART into San Francisco. The most convenient way to get here is going to be by car. It s not much to rent one for the day.

Take Amtrak, get off at Richmond, from Richmond take the BART and get off at Montgomery Street. Then you can take Muni Bus 3.

Hi okay so northampton is a great place to live in. It is part of a college area so there is plenty of things for people around your age but there are other cultural offerings. All areas are pretty but the best part i would suggest to be near is downtown. There is a public transit which you can use to get around and many other things I coud tell you about. Apartments here are some links for apartments in northamptonhttp://www.northamptonapts.com/advantag.http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/MA- and here are some options one isnt cat friendly but VERY cheap and one is more expensive and cat friendlyhttp://www.apartments.com/rent/Northampt

Is Kindergarten free in NYC or New York? -

Here in Massachusetts it is free but not mandatory, how is it in NYC or New York?

Oh, dear, you ve gotten some bad advice so far.I am a NYC public school teacher - have been for over 20 years. Not only that, I used to teach kindergarten. In NY State, kindergarten is not mandated. But the City of NY is obligated to find a seat in a public school for any child applying to kindergarten. So, a child does not HAVE to attend kindergarten by law, but can not be shut out of the process. The reason you hear about people registering early is that children CAN be shut out of a particular school. However, this is very rare these days. In the 1990s, the City frequently could not guarantee a seat for every child at their home school. Today, this is relatively rare. Moreover, registration in kindergarten has changed, so that you apply to the CITY for a seat in kindergarten, ranking the preferred schools (with your home school being pretty much guaranteed if you put it first,) as opposed to what used to happen - in the old days, you applied directly to the individual school. The new system is more the way children are placed throughout the school system, with the idea of ranking schools by preference and allowing the Dept. of Education to decide if there is room in your top ranked schools. The only elementary school grade in which you are really NOT guaranteed a spot in your zoned school is Pre-K. (Perhaps that s what one of the other people answering the question was thinking of???) Pre-K is not strictly speaking an elementary school grade. It s actually something different, but the Pre-Ks are housed in elementary schools (mostly, some are housed in day cares.)But Kindergarten IS considered an elementary grade, and as such IS a grade where you can pretty much be assured a spot in your zoned school. When this became a problem this year due to budget cuts, parents were up in arms! It s so much considered a guarantee! The City finally had to shuffle money (and students) around in one popular school in the Village, to provide each Kindergartner who was zoned in the catchment area a seat in their zoned school. Now, even though Kindergarten is NOT mandated, it is STRONGLY recommended! As someone who has taught both kindergarten and first grade, I can tell you that a child is put at a serious disadvantage if he or she does not attend kindergarten.Hope this answers your question.

Public school kindergarten is free. However depending in population density in any given neighborhood it may not be easy to obtain. It may require very early enrollment or enrollment out of your immediate area.Private school kindergarten is of course available at several price points with the least expensive being parochial schools and the most expensive being as much as state collegtuition sns.

If I were you I would check with the Department of Education to get an accurate answer.

What is a good credit union or community bank to join in the dallas or far north dallas area? -

one with free checking and possibly free savings, i know longer want to do business with big banks like wells fargo or chase, or bank of america. what are your experiences with smaller credit unions or banks, are they really better than the big corporate ones?

The problem you will have with credit unions is locations. Credit Union of Texas for example only has about 10 branches. You can do basic transactions like deposits at other credit unions in their shared branch network. You may have a delay on using those deposits unless they are in cash. I had a check deposited at CU of Texas through a shared branch and it was nearly three weeks before the money was available even though the check had cleared the issuing bank in just a day or two. I didn t need the money and I don t know if they would have released the hold sooner if I d called them. But it is certainly a concern I would raise about using them as my main bank. I have found them friendly and very competitive on loan rates.

Look at the Credit Union of Texas, which used to be the Dallas Teacher s Credit Union, but now anyone can be a member. They have free checking, and low interest loans, and all the advantages of a big bank with a small bank feel.
