Golden Gate toll booth question? -

So I went to S.F. today and almost blew right through the toll booth without out paying but i managed to stop right before the cameras and reverse it back to the tollbooth attendant. My question is what is the likelihood that the cameras took a picture of my license plate number as if i didn t pay, though I did pay the toll. Would I have seen a flash if the cameras went off? And if I do get a ticket for toll evasion, would it be easy to get it dropped?

You will be fine, the camera though collector didn t snapshot until collector push the button when you totally pass it without pay. It is not automatic as total fasttrak lane.

The cameras take photos of every single car that passes through the toll plaza. This is why: The photos are maintained to determine when somebody violates the toll. Many people use FasTrak transponders to pay tolls from an account, but sometimes the transponder batteries die. The cameras read license plates to see if they match a FasTrak account. If they do, the account is charged a regular toll. If not, a ticket is issued to the vehicle owner.Because FasTrak users do not come to a complete stop, the camera has to take a photo of every license plate in order to capture violators. (Or else they would speed off before the camera could snap a photo!) There is no camera flash.I am not sure whether you were registered as a toll violator. The best thing to do in this situation is ask for a receipt from the toll taker. That way you have simple proof of payment should you be sent a ticket accidentally. Hope it works out for you!

I agree if you do not have a reciept, and you get a ticket you may be SOL.

you should have got a recipt.

Free parking on streets on Drexels campus? -

Where is there free street parking on Drexel s campus (University City)? I know about Powelton Ave, but there are never any open spots! By free parking I mean 24/7 parking (not 2 hours or anything, somewhere that I can park and leave my car for a few days..)Paying for drexel s parking garage is causing me to go broke so next term im not renewing my parking permit and wanted to make a list of the free parking streets. Thanks!

There is free parking on 34th St. North of market, Free parking on Arch St. between 33rd and 34th, free parking on Race St., Filbert St. is a good spot right off of 34th. Powelton, like you said, and there is some free parking along Lancaster Ave.

Unfortunately there aren t any. Powelton Ave is the only place you can park. Unless you park in west philly parking lot and pay $2 a day - but then you would have to take the Lucy which, I am not sure if you have to pay or not-because you are a student. If you take notice-they are re-doing the pavements up market street. They are making market a two car lane street, so even the parking meters are being taken out and eliminated! There s always parking on Chestnut street but you would have to go to your car every 2 hours and pay via quarters or smart card which is sold at Wawa and 7 Eleven.Drexels parking garage is very expensive, as well as other parking lots in the area. I parked down at 30th street and pay $120 a month to park. It s insane- during the nicer months, I just take Septa and save myself some money.

If you really don t mind the walk, Spring Garden has open spots along the streets. It s a pretty long walk to campus though. I park in garage and yeah, expensive as hell and it s starting to get crowded. Of course, you can drive around and try to park up at 33th and 34th, but it s always full and rarely any spots.

Market Street has always been 4 lanes...the construction corresponds to the new athletic center.Powelton always had the best turnover for me. I d pass the block once and not see a thing, come back in 2-3 minutes and have plenty of spots...it just takes patience. 33-36th Street are all free parking up past Market (there are a few meters on 36th IIRC). Hamilton is also an alright street, though I don t know if I d hit it alone.
