How Old Do You Have to Be to Go to a Night Club? -

I m almost eighteen and they seem really fun. Do you have to be at least 21 to get in? I d imagine because of the alcohol. And not just Las Vegas. Anywhere.

No, most nightclubs have younger teen nights which offer you admission from 18-20, and some offer you admission but no wristband for the alcohol, some its supposed to be 21 to get in, but the bouncers dont check ids (they let the bartenders do it so still no beer), and still others not until your 21. Ive lived in 4 different states, and each of them have different rules. In Vegas itll always be 21 if Im not mistaken due to the alcohol and the open gambling and sometimes even strippers (heck ya!)

Vegas and most hot clubs in the US you need to be 21. Many clubs however have an 18 to party, 21 to drink policy. You usually get a wristband as a sign that you can drink or they stamp your hand if you can t. The wristbands though I found in my freshman year of college are easy to manipulate.

21 in most places. Some 18, depending on the law of a certain community (or state).

Im travelling to new york alone and scared!? -

hi everyone, im a 25 yr old female from brisbane and in 3 weeks i depart on a US holiday. im going to be with a contiki tour group for 99% of the trip, but i do have 3 days prior to the start of the tour in NYC alone! im freaking out being in such a big, busy place by myself. anyone got any tips? i already figure i wont go out at night(unfortunately). thanks heaps for ur help.also what is must-see/must-do in NY apart from the obvious liberty island, central park etc...also what denominations of money are quarters(25c i suppose) nickels and dimes??ta much:)

Hello! NYC is a wonderful city! I ve lived here 20 yrs and I love it!I do understand your apprehension, since most folks only know the Apple from what they see in the news and movies, but it is not any different from any large city! As far as safety is concerned, simply exercise the same practice you d use in any busy urban area, such as Sydney and Melbourne. Now to your next question, what to do in the city... What isn t in New York would be a shorter list!In Queens you ve got things like the Botanical gardens, the Museum of Science, Museum of the moving image. In Brooklyn, there s the Brooklyn Zoo, Museum of Art, the boardwalk and more... Staten Island and the Bronx have many things to do and places to visit and of course Manhattan has more things to do than I could begin to list! Our money is simple enough, the paper denominations you ll most likely handle are: $1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100. Coin denominations are: Pennies (1 cent)Nickels (5 cents)Dimes (10 cents) Quarters (25 cents)You might get the occasional $1 coin.Once you arrive, I think you ll find this city much friendlier than you might have expected! I d be happy to have an email correspondence to answer more specific questions!

I m from the UK and I feel safer in NY than I do here. It s a lovely place. The first time I visited I thought it was going to be scarey like the movies and was so pleasantly suprised. Just be careful as you would at home and don t go wandering off into any unsuitable areas. I felt quite safe at night in the touristy areas - it s mostly tourists. The shops will be fully decorated for Christmas so you need to do some serious shopping. Enjoy the hussle and bussle of NY, you will be fine.

Try the bus tours, they are fun.Try one of these companies..http://www.citysightsny.comhttp://www.newyorksightseeing.com/

New York is among the safest of America s large cities and crimes against tourists are taken VERY seriously. The most likely crime that you could fall victim to is buying counterfeit or defective goods. Stay away from designer goods sold by people who can t spell Gucci.America s monetary system is 100% metric so you will not have to deal with peculiar denominations such as shillings, ha pennies, tuppence, crowns or sovereigns as I did when I visited Ireland during the early 70 s just as they were transitioning from one monetary system to another. Please take a look at some of the links below for things to do in New York:http://www.associatedcontent.com/articlehttp://www.associatedcontent.com/articlehttp://www.associatedcontent.com/articlehttp://www.associatedcontent.com/articlehttp://www.associatedcontent.com/articleYou will have a wonderful time.

Would nt worry.A little common sense willl get you by.Its nothing like the movies ..good or bad.Would not miss an evening outWould get onto the net before you arrive use the hotel resources for places to go things to see.NYC is easy to get around if you take it in small bites.Might just find a small club or cafe in or near your hotel.Always recommend the smaller cafes restaurants the street food from the carts. Not an official visit unless you have a NY hot dog, a big hot NY pretzelMoney is the easy part.About the only thing that is base ten.Quarters are 25 cents= 1/4 dollar, Dimes are 10 cents = 1/10 dollar , nickels are 5 cents = 1/20 dollar.Being a young lady , treat yourself to a trip to Tiffany s , a famous fancy jewelry storethat has some affordable things for regular people .Would not miss the museums , most are near Central Park,..The Guggenheim Metropolitan museums of art the Museum of Natural History Planetarium.all great for rainy days.Short cab or bus rides will take you to anything that might interest you.Would ask locals your age where they go to relax ,dine or shop.If you will have free time away from the group ( it s not on the tour) would head downtown to Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village.Parts are a little touristy but a little hole in the wall cafe is a good place to be on a cold night.Best regards

Grand Valley or Michigan State University? PLEASE HELPPP!!!!!? -

Does Grand Valley or Michigan State have pre pharmacy? If so, how long does it take? ALSO, do u think i d be able to get into University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a 3.74 GPA and 30 ACT score? extracurriculars are math club, key club, spanish club, model UN, international club, national honor society, volunteer at hospital, pharmacy and library, diversity training. thanks!

With your grades, ACT scores, and extracurricular activities you should go to whatever school gives you the most scholarship money and the campus that you feel the most at home at. With that being said, you should research schools and then apply to 5 to 10 schools you really are interested in and compare what they offer you. I think both schools have pre-pharmacy. I think it takes 8 to 10 years to become a licensed pharmacist.

Do you think New Orleans Saints will be champs this year? -

Seriously, if they can beat the Patriots, I have no doubt they can go the entire season undefeated.

I agree with Jude... don t want to jinx it!!Saints are playing really well this season and i d love to see them go all the way! I was at the game Monday night and it sure looks like a champion team to me but i refuse to get too caught up in the hype.11-0 is very exciting but the only thing it guarantees is 11-5 at the end of the season...I think the players are doing a great job of staying focused though and going one game at a time . I hope that continues....

Uh uh. Not saying anything. Not going to jinx it.

Black N Gold Superbowl BABY!!!!

Yes, I think they are going to show the world what they are made of tomorrow night.

fa sho mayneee, you already kno.

I am going to Magic Kingdom tomorrow. I do not have tickets yet. What time should I arrive to get in as? -

early as possible?

The ticket booths generally open an hour before the park does. So if you want to get in as early as possible, be there before the park opens to get your tickets, and you can enter when the park opens. If you are worried about not being able to PURCHASE tickets, don t worry. It won t sell-out tomorrow. It usually only fills to capacity on Christmas and July 4.

I have been to disney many many times in my life. We have gone without buying tickets until we get to the first theme park at disney before. I would get to the magic kingdom a bit early because it is one of the busyest park, so there are a lot of people buying and picking up their tickets there. You don t have to be there before the park opens or right after it opens, but you are going to want to get your tickets with in the first hour and a half of the park opening. This is also the best time to go because the people with really young kids don t arrive to the park until about 10:30am- 11:00am.

Can you survive without A/C in Massachusetts in the summer? -

We are looking at houses in Acton and Westford, MA and most of them in our price range have no air conditioning! We noticed that a lot of houses don t have A/C, even some of the more expensive ones - is it completely miserable in the summer without it?

It can get hot and humid, though this year was downright chilly. However, you can survive without AC here. Most people have air conditioners, but they take them out in the fall, and don t put them back in until late spring. If buy a house here, you will probably want to buy a few air conditioners separately. Leaving them out all winter can damage them, and let lots of nasty cold air in the house, which is the last thing you want when it s only 3 degrees out.

The home I grew up in was in Florida, and didn t have air conditioning. I survived. Here in the Northeast, it s not uncommon for homes to not have air conditioning. The number of really hot days is actually quite limited, and you can get by without AC. Fans can go a long way to address whatever discomfort we do have.I ve been collecting meteorological data for my home in upstate New York for several years. That data shows that we have had about four times as many heating degree days as we have had cooling degree days over this period, meaning that the dominant concern is winter rather than summer.

By and large, yes although the design if your home can have quite an effect on just how tolerable it is. I know I wouldn t last through June, July and August on the third floor of a Triple Deckah without at least A/C in the bedroom! In the suburbs it s not quite as bad. You need to ask yourself how well you sleep when it s warm and sticky . It s not so much the heat as it is the humidity which, during the summer can be like Miami.I drove for years without A/C in my car and never thought about it. Now I wouldn t be without it.

I live further south, in Delaware. I have a window unit. And it was on maybe three days all summer. Many of us in the northeast get along fine without air conditioning. You might get a couple of days where you d want it, but I wouldn t say it s miserable like it would be in say Georgia without it.

Well, people survived for thousands of years without A/C!!!!!Anyway, although lots of people have room A/C units in New England central A/C is not that common. The Acton/Westford area has only about 20 days a year of extreme heat and/or humidity - closer to the coast is even less.

I visit my family in Boston every summer for three months and they do not have Air Conditioning in the house. Just with fans is comfortable enough. The only thing I had to deal with the weather is the constant raining.

You don t need central air conditioning at all. Get window units and use as needed per room. I have a bedroom unit only which I use 7 or 8 nights each summer. Even then, I set it on a timer so it goes off a couple hours after I fall asleep.
