Sparky, thanks for the kind comments.Hurricane Katrina devastated whole neighborhoods. Many of the former residents left the city and not all have come back. The aftermath of Katrina will cast a pall over the city for a long time. People from other areas have to cooperate for it to become the New York City of the south. Houston, Atlanta, and Miami each have indeed done better. Houston, because it has been spared the worst hurricane effects and benefitted when New Orleans was unable to handle as much shipping as it used to; Atlanta, because its centralized location as a rail hub gives it a shipping advantage; and Miami, because it is a seaport and also because Cuban immigrants have congregated there. They are a vibrant people and find the climate close to their liking.New Orleans has much to do to regain lost ground. If it ever can. Best estimates are that it would take nearly 20 years after Katrina for the city to be what it was. We have 15 years to go if that is an accurate estimate.
Well nothing is particularly wrong with New Orleans i am actually quite fond of the city , but the reason it hasn t soared as you say is because of all the hurricanes there especially recent fatal ones.
Well for one they suffered a major setback with Hurricane Katrina!
Nothing is wrong with New Orleans. 3
