I went with my family at 5:00 and we ended up leaving at 7:30 and they said we couldn t enter, all the streets were blocked as if they re was something going on. In every corner there was at least two police men. It felt horrible because i saw little kids cry and it made me feel even sadder. A whole group of like 300 people were walking behind us and couldn t get there way inside either! We were walking like for two hours in a half just for them to tell us in every corner that there was no trespassing. It was very disappointing.
Well make sure next time u go the before 4:30. The earlier the better. Good luck!
With security a concern and previous problems in crowd control elsewhere, there are going to be access restrictions in areas like that. Get there earlier and dress warm. Most New Yorkers don t go to the lighting anymore. It s become too commercialized. We watch on TV while having a snack.
Honey, there WAS something going on--the tree lighting. They have to limit how many people can enter or you d have a dangerous situation. I m sorry you had a miserable experience. Most New Yorkers prefer to watch the tree lighting on TV. This is why. :-)
yeah I tried to get close around 5:30 myself and walked around here and there, the closest I got was 51st and 6th. It was a zoo, way too many people and way too many streets blocked off.
You have to get there a lot earlier than 5pm!
