A friend of mine and I are looking at moving away from home (Cincinnati, OH) to the east coast. We have narrowed down the search to:Jacksonville and Wilmington, NC Charleston, Mt Pleasant and Myrtle Beach, SCBrunswick, GA, Jacksonville and Fernandina Beach FlWe will be 22-23 when we move, single, and college grads (A Speech Pathologist and a RN).. any suggestions as to where the best place would be for us to live?
move in FL
I DEFINITELY reccomend Jacksonville, FL!I have lived in many coastal beach cities, including Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC; But I like Jacksonville the most. I live here now and it is great! Much to do, a very big city, beautiful scenary and restaurants, activities, etc. by the beach (many not near the beach also), all different types of living environments, diverse, etc etc. i could go on and on but to sum it up Jacksonville, FL is the best choice!:]
I strongly recommend Jax Beach on the North side as it is cheaper. You can cross by ferry at Mayport and be anywhere You want to be. It is about 15 miles or so to downtown Jackonville but there is a lot to enjoy and do. I have lived there twice and loved it both times. THe first time, I stayed on Arlington Expressway and liked it fine but it was a little expensive. The North Side out by Blount Island was better.I loved to fish and lounge around close to where St. Johns river empties into the Atlantic. I can still see a bucket of steamed Cherry Stone Clams or Oysters and a pitcher of beer sitting on the table in front of me. Damnnnnn it was a good life!!!!Incidently, Ferdandina Beach is an excellant choice also!Second choice: Consider Savannah, Ga. with Wilmington or Tybee Island as your beach designation. These areas are laid back and enjoyable, not like around Miami, etc. The river walk in Savannah is great. particularly Spankys It happens at Spankys.
For an RN, you can t do better than Florida - most hospitals and clinics offer significant sign-on bonuses. Also, Jacksonville is a great place to live (albeit hot and muggy in summer.) Fernandina Beach is a fantastic suburb of Jacksonville, but could leave you with a lengthy commute depending on where you work.
To tell you the truth you would probably both have the best bets in Florida. Florida is God s waiting room . both of y all should easily find jobs in the healthcare field down there. Also the climate in nice too. Good Luck
