The only thing that changes from the most expensive time to the least expensive time is Walt Disney World hotel room rates. During the super high peak seasons, such as Christmas and Spring Break they also tend to raise the cost of the meals by a few dollars. If you are staying in a Disney hotel, you can find several web sites that list the different dates for the Peak , Moderate and Value seasons, as well as the difference in rates (the all ears website is mentioned in another answer - they are a valuable resource for all things Disney). If you re not staying in a Disney hotel, there is really not a cheaper option. Keep in mind that the reason the value season IS the value season is because they have fewer guests during that time and they are trying to entice you there. This means that value seasons are also less crowded and tend to be a better experience (for me at least).Something else to keep in mind - only buy your tickets from Disney or an AUTHORIZED dealer. Trying to save money by purchasing discount tickets usually gets you invalid tickets that you will have to replace once you get there. Also, check the Disney website. For the past few years they have offered free dining plans with package purchase (you must stay on-property and the dates are somewhat limited). Not having to pay for most of your food while you re there is a HUGE savings.
Unfortunately, Disney World in Orlando is never cheap. The Magic Kingdom, MGM, Universal Studios, Epcot, and all of the other major attractions are very expensive. I can inform you as to the best time of year to go there, however. If you want to avoid the crowds, visit Disney in January (starting the second week). All the kids are back in school after Christmas break and you won t have to wait in line long.
The cheapest time to go is in November. December - February - Christmas, more expensive.March-May - Lots of breaks and half terms for kids, also starting to get sunny, second cheapest option though.June-September - Summer, all kids off school, the most expensive time.October - Half term and Halloween, expensive.
If you go, try to get the largest amount of ticket days you can afford, the price gets very reasonable the more days you buy. Make it a real good vacation by taking plenty of time to see the parks all the way through. First trip, MK will take at least two days, Epcot, two days, DHS day or day and a half, AK at least a day. Two water parks, one day each. Downtown Disney, four or five hours, not including Cirque. Check out tripadvisor.com a free site, go to the Orlando area of the site and ask on the travel forum there for more info. You can get reviews and pricing for all the hotels in the area and tips to save money.
