Ive lived in Ca for 6 months amp; Im a registered voter if I move back to Vegas now will I still be a resident? -

I just moved to California June 2009. I lived in Vegas since I was 7 and moved here just six months ago. I can t go to school here without paying ridiculous out of state fee s so I m thinking about moving back to Las Vegas. If I go back will I be considered a resident and go to school paying normal fee s? I went to college in Vegas for a semester in 2008 and I want to go back to that same school. Can you please help me out because I don t know if I ll have to live there for another year before I can consider myself a legal Nevada resident.

Since you already attended a school here as a resident and you ve only been gone approximately six months..leaving in June and returning in December you can easily claim to only been gone about 5 months ...not 6 months of more ....if you come back soon . You would want to claim that you only visited with friends/family or something like that...not became a resident . Most states, etc require you to have earned more than 1/2 of your income or to have lived more than 1/2 the year to be a resident ...so for now...you d still be okay. Most schools will go off of if you ve lived here continuously for at least a year. The school you ve already attended will usually assume that you are still a resident, but you ll probably still need to show a Nevada license not a California one. Changing your license to CA may have messed you up...if you did?!? But, if you still have a NV I.D. than you can probably still claim to be a Nv resident (again, you ll have still lived in Nevada for more of the year than in Ca).Don t trust the school to help you out here...they all LOVE to charge out-of-state fees...they re a big money maker for them. BUT, if you stay in CA for another 7 months or so...without going to school for a full year+...then you ll qualify for in-state there without moving back. Just a suggestion.Sooo...Do you still have your Nevada driver s license? Did you convert it to a CA driver s license? Do you have any utility bills showing your name in Ca? Versus do you have any utility bills in your name in Vegas/Nv? *These are all typical questions and/or things your have to answer or show if asked to PROVE residency.Best wishes... stay in school ...it pays off if you stick with it!!!

Why haven t you become a resident of California Yet? You only have to live there a year to gain residency. From http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/ad To be considered a California resident for purposes of fees, an out-of-state student must have lived in California for more than one year preceding the residence determination date, relinquish residence in other states, show an intent to establish residency in California and demonstrate financial independence. No you left and moved to CA

How can You get cash to go from NY to Cali and get a place there too? **10 POINTS BEST ANSWER? -

Say you got no money, no cash, your on your own, homeless and you gotta get to California from new york, and your gonna need a place there too. What do you do? Where do you get money to make the trip? How will you pay it back?

-why would you go to cali if you dont have any support and the economy is just as bad if not, worse?-GET A JOB!!!-ask from family, get a job and pay a loan!-call your family. if you are talking about yourself, you have a computer, email family and tell them where you are!

I have no idea, but oh my god are you homeless?! Why don t you have any money?Im not snobby or anything but your question is so interesting !

I am thinking in living in an hotel. Is it a good move? What do you think? -

If you travel for the majority of the year, then it could be worth it. Speak to a hotel manager on where you live or want to live and also see if you can get hotel points/rewards. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/search.ph

Hey Fernando: the risk of fire, paper thin walls, neighbours who may disappear at anytime with your stuff... there s a long list that someone could go on and on about. One point I would like to make is, why throw your money away? I know people who rented for over 25 years. Even at five hundred dollars a month, that s one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. ($150,000) What do you want to do? Make a hotel owner rich? I think there are many alternatives. Your question is too short to know anything else about you, but one thing I notice in the help wanted ads is that there seem to be a lot of ads for Superintendents and handy types for apartment buildings. A free apartment and a salary are included. Good luck.

It is outrageously expensive unless you get a real fleabag, and even then it will be expensive compared to a similarly fleabag apartment.

its a good idea, dont have to worry about maintaining house, only downside is that it will be small

Relocating to austin, tx. looking for good neighborhood for family of 7? -

moving to austin. looking for good schools, community feel, for family of 7. Heard of Round Rock and Pflugerville. Any others recommended? Home price max around 250,000.

I live in Allandale, which is an excellent community type area in my opinion...I do not have children here as they are grown, but there are very good schools near by, can do all shopping within a few miles as it is very centrally located. Taxes are high in Austin, so I cannot compare COL with Round Rock or Pflugerville, both of these are supposed to have great school areas, but I do not know specifics of home costs which vary everywhere. I live in an older area, which is middle class a little on upper side, and houses average $200-$250,ooo, so I think you would like it. We are near several larger shopping malls, and between I Mopac and I 35, The Domain, Highland Mall and Northcross Mall. It is like a small town suburb here to me, with the City, the University and several hospitals within ten miles of home...so look it over...you will like this area...of TX.

If you are looking for good schools, I would recommend Round Rock over Pflugerville. Pflugerville teachers, in general, are wonderful, it s the student population at some of the schools that would make me wary of the district. Cedar Park is a growing community in the same area, and its schools are good too. If you want excellent schools, look in the Eanes district, which is in west Austin, but the area is beautiful and has a reputation for excellence in education. It sounds like you are looking more north of the city, so you may want to check out Leander and Georgetown as well. Good luck!

Aside from Round Rock, and Pflugerville, you could look at Cedar Park and Leander (both Northwest off of 183). If you are going to be working in South Austin, you could try Buda or Kyle.

so youre looking up north? in the south id reccommend Shady Hollow or Circle C.

Where can I park my car off campus for a few weeks by UC Davis without getting fined? -

I am a freshman at UC Davis and they don t allow freshmen to have parking permits because they believe we don t need a car. But, a car is very convenient and would make life a whole lot easier for me. The problem is I don t know a place to park my car during the week for free. I know downtown Davis has a lot of parking restrictions and parking garages, but the price is five dollars a day and that can really add up in two weeks. Does anyone know a place I can park my car (relatively close to the campus) for free/cheaply without getting the parking ticket?

Near campus, good luck. You can park on the north side of Russell Blvd between Anderson and Hwy 113 or on the first block or so of Sycamore near Russell and on Wake Forest in front of Cuarto. In either case, you have to move your car at least once a week when it is street cleaning day. These spots are usually parked up by freshmen just like you plus your car will be covered in bird crap. You can generally park for free on campus Saturday, Sunday and weekdays after 10pm. Downtown is all timed parking from 30 min - 2 hours and after that time you have to move to a different block. All of the neighborhoods anywhere near campus have restricted parking that you must have a resident parking permit. Whatever you do, don t try to park at the U Mall or any other shopping center, they will tow you in a heartbeat. And after winter break expect the parking to get even worse as more freshmen always decide they need a car.

San Francisco. Place to stay? -

I m a senior in high school and I m going to college in San Francisco I m going to need a place to stay. I need roomates for fall of 2010. just putting it out there so if you know someone....

The best place to put this out there would be the shared housing/roommates section of Craig s Listhttp://www.craigslist.org

Most colleges have message boards where people list what they need - like roommates! Also - you might consider what your hobbies are and find a group or club on campus about it and then contact them and see if they have houses for rent for people from that group. That way you get to live with people who have your same interests. If you are a church going person you could also contact your church s branch/group near SF and see if they have a group of college kids going to the church. You will love college - it s a blast!-Patti

What college do you go? there are some dormitories for freshmen, the school will arrange your roommate.

Try craigslist
