Since you already attended a school here as a resident and you ve only been gone approximately six months..leaving in June and returning in December you can easily claim to only been gone about 5 months ...not 6 months of more ....if you come back soon . You would want to claim that you only visited with friends/family or something like that...not became a resident . Most states, etc require you to have earned more than 1/2 of your income or to have lived more than 1/2 the year to be a resident ...so for now...you d still be okay. Most schools will go off of if you ve lived here continuously for at least a year. The school you ve already attended will usually assume that you are still a resident, but you ll probably still need to show a Nevada license not a California one. Changing your license to CA may have messed you up...if you did?!? But, if you still have a NV I.D. than you can probably still claim to be a Nv resident (again, you ll have still lived in Nevada for more of the year than in Ca).Don t trust the school to help you out here...they all LOVE to charge out-of-state fees...they re a big money maker for them. BUT, if you stay in CA for another 7 months or so...without going to school for a full year+...then you ll qualify for in-state there without moving back. Just a suggestion.Sooo...Do you still have your Nevada driver s license? Did you convert it to a CA driver s license? Do you have any utility bills showing your name in Ca? Versus do you have any utility bills in your name in Vegas/Nv? *These are all typical questions and/or things your have to answer or show if asked to PROVE residency.Best wishes... stay in school ...it pays off if you stick with it!!!
Why haven t you become a resident of California Yet? You only have to live there a year to gain residency. From http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/ad To be considered a California resident for purposes of fees, an out-of-state student must have lived in California for more than one year preceding the residence determination date, relinquish residence in other states, show an intent to establish residency in California and demonstrate financial independence.
