Do you know any great places to visit / things to do in vegas city, off the strip? -

i know a few shopping malls, was hoping for other suggestions. we are hiring a car for 2 days - spending one out of vegas , and want to explore vegas off the strip the other day. get to know the actual city / suburbs.

Drive west on Charleston (Sahara Hotel), about 10 miles from StripRed Rock Resort (fantastic buffet, movie theatre, bowling, casino) Join the players club and you get at least $3 in free/matching money on slotsRed Rock Canyon loop and visitor center Bonnie Springs RanchBonnie Springs Old NevadaDrive west on Charleston to Arville and take a right (north)Las Vegas Springs Preserve Fremont Street Experience

If you want to stay in the city, and suburbs, there are a few things to see:Freemont Street, in downtown Vegas. It has been converted into a pedestrian mall with a 90-foot high (30-meter) canopy providing shade from the hot desert sun.The Gardens At The Las Vegas Springs PreserveThis garden was earlier called the Desert Demonstration Gardens as 8 acres are desert botanical gardens. The entry is free of cost here. These gardens contain over 300 species of desert-compatible plants.Red Rocks National ParkThis national park is located 15 miles west of downtown.

There isn t much suburban Las Vegas, it s mostly urban (apartment complexes, strip malls, restaurants, gas stations) and then barren desert. For me the three most interesting cruises are 1. West on Charleston to visit the Red Rock casino and then Red Rock Canyon... here s a photo I shot of the canyon from an airplane http://www.urbanphotos.net/images/las_ve2. East on Fremont to see all the cheap dive motels and crackheads. http://www.urbanphotos.net/images/vegas_3. South on Las Vegas Blvd. until it turns into a dirt trail ... here are two photos I shot out there http://www.urbanphotos.net/end_of_Las_Ve

Town Square is pretty nice. it s right next to the airport. If you really want to get to know the city you re best bet is to explore Henderson and Green Valley. There s not much here in just Las Vegas besides the strip. You ll learn that most locals don t just stay only in LV. My family and I live right on the edge of LV and any kind of entertainment we look for is in Henderson.

go look at mansions in summerlin! or toilet paper wayne newtons house.right on the corner of sunset and pecos. or you can come hang out with me and my friends and go to the executive airport and watch celebrities

If you like the desert at all, I recommend Red Rock Canyon. Always take water when you hike, leave your travel plans with someone, etc., for safety s sake.

If you live in Austin, TX, where do you go to when you want to go to the beach? What are nearest quot;nicequot; beach? -

We live in Southern California and may be moving to Austin Texas. Where do people go when they want to drive to the beach and go to a nice beach city? I tried looking on google maps and couldn t find any nice looking beach areas, but probably just looking in the wrong area. So, where do people from Austin drive to when they go to the beach?

Well, you have a couple of options. If you truly want sand and surf, then Port Aransas on the Texas Gulf coast is where I would go. It s about a 4 hour drive from Austin - just north of Corpus Christi. Texas Gulf beaches are their own unique animal - they are not as pretty as either California or Florida beaches, but they are all we have so we make the best of them. You can drive right on the beach if you want and the waves, while small, are good for boogie boarding and body surfing. Unlike CA, you can actually swim in the Gulf - the water starts to warm up in late May. If you want pristine white sand beaches, Cancun is an easy plane ride away and there are also direct flights to Florida. If you just want to go swimming and soak up some sun, the Highland Lakes are right here in Austin s back yard. Pace Bend Park has some nice flat sandy areas and protected shallow swimming spots for the kids. It s a nice alternative to the beach.

WHAT ARE SOME CHEAP MOTELS IN GARY, INDIANA? -

If you go to tripadvisor.com a free site and type in Gary Indiana in the search box, you should be able to find what hotels are available in the area or a nearby area. There is a travel forum that has real people who can tell you about the hotels, or you can often find reviews of the hotels from real people. Good luck.

i have no idea why you would want to stay in gary.id spend the extra $$$ and at least stay in a nicer area like merrillville

What is the cost of living in new york city and what is the minimum wage? -

my sister and i are thinking about moving to new york city to go to college and getting an apartment together. we need to know what minimum wage is and what the cost of living is

It s actually rather expensive, although certain places are cheaper than others. My sister, who is twenty-three years old, lives in a small apartment in Brooklyn. Although I ve never discussed rent, she says that it s cheap for the most part, but still not a steal. If you re looking to live in Manhattan, I say screw it; looking for a cheap apartment in Manhattan is a bit of a lost cause. You re better off aiming for Queens and Brooklyn; they seem to have the cheapest apartments from what I have heard. Again, I m no expert, as I live with my parents, and am not quite knowledgable on the home-hunting scene, but from what I have heard from my sister, Brooklyn and Queens seem to be the best deals.Public transportation is cheap. One subway ride is $2.25, and I think it s the same for buses -- I don t take the bus often, so I m not quite sure. Taxis get you where you want to go quicker, but if you really want to save money, you would take the buses and trains where you want to go. It s cheaper, and you can save a bundle if you don t use your car as often as you would need to if you lived in a more suburban area without many train and bus stops.Minimum wage in New York state is $7.25 per hour. All the best ?

The cost of living in NYC is very high.1st) Most landlords want 1st last month for security.2nd) Apartments are very hard to find if you find one you can expect to pay about $1.50 per sq foot. That means that a SMALL APT. say 950 sq ft will cost you $1,425.00.3rd You will have to pay all the utilities; gas, electric, etc.Min wage is $7.25 per hr.However you may want to consider living out side of Manhattan. Things would be considerably cheaper.

The minimum wage in New York State is $7.15/hour. Your cost of living would depend on your style of living. Apartments in New York start at about $600.00 and up. Utilities can be high in New York as they do have cold winters and hot summers. All your other expenses would be typical city pricing.

To live comfortably in Brooklyn the household income for two, three, or four should be about $65,000 a year.

I want to have a holiday to US? -

i am a full housewife here in singapore,my husband works here as a civil eng r,we live here with our 3kids,we are permanent resident here....i am planning to go for holiday in US,but i think US embassy asking for LETTER OF LEAVE OF ABSENCE,TAX CERTIFICATION ETC ETC..but i can provide a bank certificate to show that i have enough savings to my account, does US embassy allows housewife like me to have an holiday to their place?any idea what document will i need to provide to go there?travel agencies are not allowed now to process documents for visa, must apply in person to US embassy...thank u very much

Other than having enough money, when approving a visa to the US, the most important thing the embassy officer considers is if you would overstay your visa and became an illegal in the US. If you are going alone while your entire family remains in Singapore, your chances of getting approved are high because you have many good reasons to return after your holiday. In your case, showing documents that prove you are married and have kids, and that your husband is a professional will ease the minds of the embassy people.

There is so much land out west. Who owns it? -

I seriously love how there is so much space out there going through Utah and all. How does one buy land out there?

Most of it is American Indian land and Federal Government Land.
