Which area is considered Montrose, is it the 77006 area? or along montrose blvd? start where? end where? -

i know it s a real city, is it?

No, it s not a city but a neighborhood in Houston. It is the 77006 area but the boundaries are blurred. Montrose starts at Allen Parkway on the North side, Shepard to the West, 59 to the South Bagby to the East. Again, there are those who would argue over a block or two but most Montrose residents consider these the (more or less) boundaries.

Montrose is the name of a street and the name of a neighborhood located in Houston TX.

I is one of those topics that is of key distinction and is going to require professional tending to regarding

How does the Golden Gate Bridge impact the culture of San Francisco? -

How does it impact the culture of San Francisco, in your opinion?

Before the bridge was built, the only practical short route between San Francisco and what is now Marin County was by boat across a section of San Francisco Bay. Ferry service began as early as 1820, with regularly scheduled service beginning in the 1840s for purposes of transporting water to San Francisco.[5] The Sausalito Land and Ferry Company service, launched in 1867, eventually became the Golden Gate Ferry Company, a Southern Pacific Railroad subsidiary, the largest ferry operation in the world by the late 1920s.[5][6] Once for railroad passengers and customers only, Southern Pacific s automobile ferries became very profitable and important to the regional economy.[7] The ferry crossing between the Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco and Sausalito in Marin County took approximately 20 minutes and cost US$1.00 per vehicle, a price later reduced to compete with the new bridge.[8] The trip from the San Francisco Ferry Building took 27 minutes. Many wanted to build a bridge to connect San Francisco to Marin County. San Francisco was the largest American city still served primarily by ferry boats. Because it did not have a permanent link with communities around the bay, the citys growth rate was below the national average.[9] Many experts said that a bridge couldnt be built across the 6,700 ft (2,042 m) strait. It had strong, swirling tides and currents, with water 500 ft (150 m) in depth at the center of the channel, and frequent strong winds. Experts said that ferocious winds and blinding fogs would prevent construction and operation.[9]

A bridge like the Golden Gate greatly expanded the opportunities for commercial and cultural exchange. It made it much easier for people from Marin County to travel into the city for work or to attend museums, galleries, the symphony, the opera, to attend school, attend conventions, dog shows, etc. -- and vice versa. It permitted the development of the modern city. The bridge is quite beautiful and has come to be known as a symbol of San Francisco.

i know that they built the bridge during the depression because it created more jobs for people. I think this is why its one of the most populated/major cities in the world, since sf was the place to make money back then...

i think the golden gate bridges brings a lot of in the closet suicidal people to san fran and they look at that bridge in comfort knowing if they needed to they could jump off of it.

It allows for the movement of people, goods, and services.

Hun, the only influence those sinful people need is the Word of the Lord.

Not much I hear cuz they can hardly see it...And I also hear it s a great place to kill one s self.

Questions for Atlanta Natives? -

-What s your favorite thing about Atlanta?-Is it true that most of the men are homosexuals?-Is Atlanta really like a 24 hour party?-What s your least favorite thing about Atlanta?-Is Atlanta really set up like this: everyone lives around the main part of atlanta with the west, east, north, and south atlanta around it? If not, how is it set up?-I ve heard that not many people are really from Atlanta, that people migrate over there for job opportunities. Is that true?-what would you tell a newcomer to Atlanta? Thanks!

- My favorite things about are Atlanta is that it is warm (compared to the place I moved from), and that there is so much to see do (I love all the different types of great restaurants);- No, its not true. Although I ve heard that there are 2 women to 1 every man in Atlanta. So yes we have a shortage of men in the city.- No, Atlanta is not like a 24 hour party, its not really a party city (I would say New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, NYC those are 24 hour party cities. I would say Atlanta is lower on that party list, its more of a professional city.- The traffic is horrible! It is ranked 2 or 3rd worst in the country. I also hate pollen in the spring.- I don t really get your question..... North of the city is the safer, cleaner suburbs, East West of the city are okay and South of the city is poor crime ridden. I-285 forms a circle around the city.- It is probably 50/50....there are lots of people from Atlanta, but there are also a large group of people who have moved to Atlanta for its job opportunities weather. I ve met alot of people from NY, NJ, CT, MA, MI. The large amount of them seem to be from the north.- Make sure you have a job lined up before you move to Atlanta, make sure you really look at the crime statistics, etc. of the place you intend to live (if it is an apartment), make sure you come here with extra $ in your pocket and live close to where you work.

I ve lived in ATL for 10 years. so what is with the thumbs down? Report Abuse

-What s your favorite thing about Atlanta? THE MANY OPTIONS FOR ENTERTAINMENT, PRO AND COLLEGE SPORTS AND THE DIVERSITY OF THE CITY.-Is it true that most of the men are homosexuals? IGNORANT STEREOTYPE STATEMENT, NEXT QUESTION.-Is Atlanta really like a 24 hour party? NOT AT ALL-What s your least favorite thing about Atlanta? RACISM AND LOCAL POLITICS-Is Atlanta really set up like this: everyone lives around the main part of atlanta with the west, east, north, and south atlanta around it? If not, how is it set up? UNTIL RECENTLY NOT MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIVED IN ATLANTA. THEY ALL LIVED OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS IN THE SUBURBS. BUT THINGS ARE BEGINNING TO CHANGE AND RESIDENTS ARE MOVING BACK TO THE CITY.-I ve heard that not many people are really from Atlanta, that people migrate over there for job opportunities. Is that true? ATLANTA IS VERY TRANSIENT. NOT MANY NATIVES LEFT. ALMOST EVERYONE IS FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE-what would you tell a newcomer to Atlanta? DON T MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU ARE WELL EDUCATED AND PROFESSIONAL BECAUSE GOOD JOBS ARE HARD TO FIND AND YOU WON T SURVIVE IN THE CITY ON A LOW PAYING JOB.

-What s your favorite thing about Atlanta? Everything, I just love Atlanta; it s my home.-Is it true that most of the men are homosexuals? No, not a lot of people came out of closet so to speak, because the state is VERY homophobic, and racist against hispanics and asians-Is Atlanta really like a 24 hour party? A drug party-What s your least favorite thing about Atlanta? People that will stab you for less than a dollar-Is Atlanta really set up like this: everyone lives around the main part of Atlanta with the west, east, north, and south Atlanta around it? If not, how is it set up? Not a lot of people live in Atlanta the city, city itself, that s where the big businesses are located, but people are moving closer and closer to them and out of the farming.-I ve heard that not many people are really from Atlanta, that people migrate over there for job opportunities. Is that true? Yes-what would you tell a newcomer to Atlanta? Roll your windows up

Anyone who lives in or has visited Michigans Upper Peninsula? -

Hello :)I m planning on visiting the UP sometime, and I m also thinking about using a UP town as a setting for a story/novelish thing I m beginning to write.I want to know about any particular towns that might be cool to visit (what it s like geographically, population-wise, what the downtown area looks like, etc. Anything you know about it at all to help me get an idea and a vision in my head, incase I decide to use it as a setting as well), what the weather in the UP is like in general, what the people are like, and so forth.Anyone who can help me at all would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks so much!

People who live in Michigan s Upper Peninsula are called Yoopers . They have their own distinct dialect which sounds very much like the Canadian accent. Winter is harsh and the snow comes early, while the summer is milder than downstate. French-Canadians and Finnish are two important ethnic groups who immigrated to the UP. Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Escanaba, Iron Mountain, St. Ignace, Houghton are the important cities up there. Porcupine Mountains and Isle Royal are two major eco-tourism locations.

How the HELL do you navigate the NYC subway system? Help. Me. Please.? -

This is interactive map of MTA Subway System s Trip Planner.http://www.nyctourist.com/subway_page1.hHere is tourist photograph guide book.MTA Interactive Trip Planner Map- it shows subway routes if you http://tripplanner.mta.info/subway_map/mFare $2.25. Tokens are no longer used.http://mta.info/metrocard/mcgtreng.htm

Here how to understand the subway in new yorkLook at the subway map and you ll notice each station has a black dot and a white dot. Well, a black dot indcates that the station is served by local trains and express trains pass the station. A white dot indicates that the station is severed by both local and express trains, it also indicates that it is a transfer point to other lines.Since NYC is a large city, it is not impratical to call all the lines by color because many of them have branch lines, like a railroad. So a system of numbers and letters are used, and each of them IDs a subway route, just like a bus route. Now, the difference between uptown and downtown is simple. Uptown , means the trains are going in the northbound direction, which means the number on the street will increase. Example: 14th Street, 23rd Street, 34th Street, etc. Downtown, means the trains are going in the southbound direction, which means the number will decrease. Example: 34th Street, 23rd Street, 14th Street, etc.At all stations, there are signs that say, Downtown and Brooklyn, or Downtown and Brooklyn via 7th Avenue Express . This means that the train is going to Lower Manhattan and into Brooklyn, and it traveling under 7th Avenue. Uptown and The Bronx, and Uptown and The Bronx via 7th Avenue Express is the same thing, but in reverse for northbound trains. The only exception is for lines going east to west, there sign that will say To Brooklyn or To Queens .I hope this information was very helpful. Good luck

The subways are totally easy and probably the fastest way to get around the city. Figure out where you want to go, then pick the stop that gets you closest. Most attractions, restaurants, night clubs etc will give you a few of the near by stops so you can pick which is most convenient to your starting and ending points. Here s a map: http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm Don t leave home without it, if you do, they re usually posted in the stations and on the trains anyway. Some things to be aware of:Across town: you ll see most lines run relatively straight, so it s not always easy to get from the East side (low number avenues) to the West side (high number avenues) but going north to south (high number streets to low number streets) is easy.Trains not running: if you re traveling late at night (after 11) or on the weekends, read the fliers posted in the stations. They re confusing, but they ll tell you if they re doing construction, which stations will be closed, and which trains aren t running.Trains run less frequently on the weekends and at night. The subways are safe but be aware of your surroundings. The booth workers aren t always in the booth, some times they re walking around the station.

I got this very simple laminated map of the subway system that showed all the different train-lines in a very simple color-coded way. I found it at a cheesy tourist shop, but it helped SOOO much. After a couple days, I had no problem whatsoever.

I know where I am, I know where I need to be and go from there. It looks complex, but once you get the hang of it it s really quite simple.

Check out nycvisit.com for a subway map that is downloadable. Should help!

With a map...?

Hellllllppppp renting a cabin for 3 days that is for sale?!?!!? -

So we are renting a cabin for 3 days in big bear, but when I asked the renter to send more pictures of the property she sent me to a side for real estate...I suppose she is selling her home. Can you still rent a home out for a 3 day vacation to someone, but the home is also on the market...? Is that possible??? Or is she scamming us? http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/42133- that is the home we are supposed to be renting for 3 days

Often when a landlord does not live near some of their rental property they will hire a real estate agent to act as the property manager or rental agent. READ the rental agreement very carefully. They are written to benefit the landlord. To protect yourself take pictures of EVERY room before you occupy the cabin, and demand a walk through inspection just before you leave to reduce your risk of being charged for damage or cleaning fees.

Certainly, they can have it for sale and still rent it. The owner probably bought it so they could make money renting it, and rentals probably aren t enough to pay their mortgage.
