What are some of the funnest places/museums in new york city? -

Fun in New York City? Good luck! This place is as boring as watching paint dry. I kid, I kid, but just know that there will ALWAYS be something to do that is fun in New York City; you will never be bored when you are here.Go visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, two landmarks of New York City. To get there by the ferry, you need to purchase round-trip ferry tickets at Castle Clinton National Monument in Lower Manhattan. Ferries from New York operate on a loop, stopping first at Liberty Island and then at Ellis Island before returning to Battery Park, New York.Directions to get the ferry dock:http://www.nps.gov/stli/planyourvisit/puGo visit the Empire State Building, one of the many landmarks of our city. It is located at 350 5th Avenue. To get there by MTA subway, take the 1, 2, or 3 (Seventh Avenue Lines), A, C or E (Eighth Avenue Subway) to 34th Street/Penn Station. Or take the B, D, F, N, Q, R or Path to 34th Street/Avenue of the Americas.Go walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, which is, if I m correct, which I might not be, is the oldest structure in the city. If not the oldest structure, the oldest bridge. To get there, and walk across it, take the 4, 5, or 6 to the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall stop. Another option would be to take the J, M, or Z to Chambers Street.Go visit Coney Island, the home of the world famous Cyclone roller coaster. The amusement park will be closed, especially in the winter time, but the aquarium is open year-round, and sometimes the pier is open, so you can get some snacks -- they have fantastic corn dogs on the pier. To get there by train, take the D, Q N or F train to Stillwell Avenue, which is the last stop. This takes about 45 minutes from midtown Manhattan, and sometimes longer, depending on where you are coming from.Go for a ride on the Circle Line. There are numerous different cruises C one is the Full Island Cruise, which takes you around Manhattan on a three-hour cruise. The Semi-Circle Cruise sets sail on a two-hour cruise down the Hudson offering a stunning panoramic of the famed New York skyline and a close-up view of Lady Liberty. The Liberty Cruise turns 75-minutes into a quick and inspirational way to see New Yorks highlights from the water. There is also a Harbor Lights Evening Cruise, which allows you to view the hotspots of New York City from the water at night. Then, there is The Beast. Its a boat that travels at forty-five miles per hour down the river to the Statue of Liberty. Both cruises are fun and informational, and are a great way to kill some time if you dont have anything to do.Here is the Circle Line schedule:http://www.circleline42.com/site/schedulCircle Line special events:http://www.circleline42.com/site/browse.Go to visit some museums. There are so many, that listing directions to all of them would be a waste of your time and my time, so instead, I will give you a list where there is a list of all the museums of New York City. You can pick some that sound interesting, and then you can find directions to that place, either from the website, or from Google, simply by typing in directions to and insert the museum you would like to go to beside it. Secluded places to star gaze and see the city lights in LA? -

I live in pasadena, ca I love finding new places to get away and watch the stars and city lights... Any new ideas of where to go? I know Griffith park is a good place to see the city lights but I m looking for more of a secluded place. Kinda like that little dirt path in Altadena you walk too and you sit on dirt no one is around (unless they know about the place but it s pretty small and normally people let you be alone) and you see everything upto the ocean and all.... Kinda looking to find a new place to check out like that. :) any ideas?

The two activities don t go together. If you want to see city lights you won t see many stars because of all the light pollution, and if you want to see lots of stars you ll be too far from any city to see many lights. My best compromise is on Hwy 14 between Lancaster and Mojave about 2 miles north of Rosamond. You re far enough from town to see thousands of stars, but close enough to Lancaster / Palmdale to see a wonderful light show in the valley below.

Angels Point, Elysian Park.Mulholland Drive, just west of the 101 freeway.Angeles Crest Highway, once it opens up again, about 5 miles up from the base of the highway.

The Lookout Roadhouse in Lake Elsinore is probably too far, but you can see stars and the bright lights of Lake Elsinore. The Ortega Highway is always a nice scenic drive, it s even more fun if you have a sports car or a motorcycle. Mulholland Highway, not Mulholland Drive, also has some great places to see stars. It s a very winding road that drops you onto PCH in northern Malibu. It s popular with people on motorcycles and sports cars too. The Rock Store is a popular place to stop for a snack or a drink. They aren t very friendly to non-motorcycle or cool car people though.

What are some places i can visit in New york / new jersey that are sort of international? -

for example the united nations... my international business club goes there every year but we want to go somewhere different this time..

Rockerfeller Center has a lot of international-themed buildings and elements. Check this out - http://www.museumplanet.com/tour.php/nycI am pretty sure you can have some sort of tour where these are pointed out to your group. And then you can have a lunch at one of the many restaurants there. How does this sound?

How about the International House Of Pancakes? There s one on Livingston St. in Brooklyn!! ;-)

What is the best route SF to LA? -

Hi I m visiting the States and I was wondering if you guys could help me :)Basically, I m going to Los Angeles from SF. My route will be SF-Monterey-Carmel-Solvang-Lompoc-Santa Barbara-Santa Monica-LA. Do you guys have a better alternative? Although I really do want to pass by Monterey and Santa Monica to check out the pier and all :) Also, how long is the trip from Lompoc-LA by car?Could you guys also give out places to see on the way or the best stop-overs/hotels in between the trip. Thank you! :)

If you are going to visit CA then a drive along the coast (Hwy 1) is an absolute must. FWIW I-5 (the inland route) is quicker, but one of the most boring drives in the continental United States, while 101 is somewhat faster, but you miss a lot of great scenery along Big Sur...So in other words your current alternative is the best way to go. Santa Cruz (1-1.5 hrs south of SF) is extremely pleasant, has a tourist but fun boardwalk, and is generally pleasant. Head to the Univiersity in the hills overlooking the city for spectacular views and redwood trees. Monterrey (2-2.5 hrs south of SF) is well worth visiting, especially the Aquarium. Carmel is nice if you like shopping. I especially recommend visiting Point Lobos just south of Carmel which has spectacular scenery. There are some fine State Parks in Big Sur (the region South of Carmel). South of There you ll also want to visit Hearst Castle (the estate of the man whom Citizen Kane is based on). Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo are good places to stop for the night. The only really compelling reason why you might want to take an inland route (aside from needing to get from SF to LA quickly) is to visit Yosemitie--which is definitely well worth visiting. If you are heading back to SF from LA I would recommend going through Yosemitie fwiw. Either way you ll have lots of impressive scenery. Have fun!

I read that you re taking the slow route (for lovers and campers) through Carmel, I tried that once in 1994, from Carmel to Cambria, and it took almost forever on those twists and turns in the fog mist. A nice scenic drive would be Highway 101 south from San Francisco down to Ventura and then over to highway 126 east up to either Moorpark or Simi Valley. If you in a big hurry, you can take Interstate 5 which is mostly boring until you cross over the Mountains before the Los Angeles basin.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Best is in the eye of the beholder. Like everything else, thee are trade-offs. How much time do you have to spend? How much money? How important is a scenic drive to you? What would you be driving? What sort of places do you want to stay at? How s your tolerance for twisty roads? Fog?

I think I-5 is faster- Sf to LA is about 6 hours. In Monterey- go to Santa Cruz beach walk for a deep fry twinkles then check out the Mystery Spot.

3 choices-I-5 is the most direct and may be the fastest but very boring and will have 18 wheelers jump in front of you at 45mph from the slow lane- kind of nerve wracking. 101 to the 405 to the 5 is more scenic and can be as fast as I-5 101 to 68 to 1 is going to take an extra 2-3 hours. Beautiful coastline, Carmel is a great stopover if you go this route. or you can hang in Morro Bay too, Eat at Dorns if you like clam chowder. The drive through Santa Monica has a ton of street light traffic. Great trip though. about 9 hours give or take. You can modify it a little by taking hwy 1 til you get to Morro Bay and then pick up the 101 to the 405 to the 5.Very BEST stay over is in Carmel- Lots to see and doContact Cathy at the Carriage House Inn and tell her I sent you (more info below)http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-29058Next pick would be the Apple Farm Inn or Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. If nothing else, you should stop and take a look at the Madonna Inn men s bathroom- looks like a cave. Downtown San Luis blocks off the streets on Thursday nights for a fantastic farmers market with lots of food and entertainment. it is a college town so it rocks.Solvang is a quaint Danish village--unique and you can go the back route over the mountain that comes out at Santa Barbara. Great vista views and a lake. There are wineries out there and an Emu farm. There is a nice natural history museum, zoo, and mission in Santa BarbaraIf you make it to Dana Point- further south- stay at the Golden Lantern Inn- wonderful place! Tell them carpe diem on the day of your stay if it is the same day you call and you may get the room for 1/2 price! Get a harbor view room...cheaper and you still have a great view.Have a wonderful trip!!

Las Vegas, what to do? -

So my husband and I are a young couple and are going to vegas to celebrate out two year wedding anniversary and my 22 birthday. We are only going for three night four days since we have a 4 year old daughter that my in laws will be watching. We are still young 22 and 23 and we love to have fun. (night life, bars, clubs, ect. ) However we don t really get to go out often since we have our daughter and he works full time and I would part time. So what are some hot spots to visit in Vegas that are fun, upbeat, sexy, ect. Also what should we wear, I know we are going to go shopping before we go to get a few new things each to wear. Can you give some ideas of what we should both get. We would also like to go out to a couple night dinners so if you can reccommend any good places to eat that would be nice too. We are staying at the Luxor Hotel in the Tower Luxury Sweet and want to experience the vegas nightlife scene. Thanks everyone for your help!

One thing that you should know about Vegas especially as a tourist....you will do a lot of walking. Bring a comfortable pair of shoes because you will need them.

I lived in Vegas for about 20 years. My favorite places are...Restaurants: Burger bar (Mandalay Bay mall), Rio Buffet (Rio), Top of the World (Nicer place, top of the Stratosphere)Bars: Island bar (Treasure Island), Margaritaville, Voodoo Lounge (Rio)Club: TaoEverywhere down on the strip is pretty fun. The best thing to do is just wander around and find something that suits you. Hope you have fun.

Luxor has two great clubs for fun!!!! They have great restaurants and a buffet. Make sure you go outside after dark and enjoy the neon lights, esp the front of Luxor. Luxor is connected by free tram and a indoor walkway to Excalibur and to Mandalay Bay, so you access to more entertainment and food.

The Siegfried and Roy statue!

How do you use the burlingame caltrain to get to B.A.R.T in millbrae? -

Get on the Caltrain at Burlingame, and get off at Millbrae which is 2 stations later. Check the Caltrain schedules in advance, since the trains are not as frequent as BART.

http://www.samtrans.com/schedules.htmli WOULD SUGGEST SAMTRANS BUS SYSTEM.

Can you purchase a 1 day fun pass metro card at Penn Station? -

New York City.

Yes, you can. There are MetroCard vending machines near the entrances to the 1/2/3 subways at the 7th Avenue end, as well as near the A/C/E subways at the 8th Avenue end. There are multiple machines at each location, so you ll be able to get it fairly easily. The one-day fun pass will be an option in the on-screen menu.Don t waste your time on the Long Island Rail Road vending machines, though. You can t get the fun-pass MetroCards there. The machines look similar to the subway ones, so keep an eye out.

Yes you can. However, the card is only sold at the MetroCard Vending Machine in the subway.Good luck

What age to kids start school in america(las vegas, nevada)? -

ok, so my best friend recently moved to america, las vegas nevada with his 2 year old son.As he has lived in england all his life he doesn t have a clue about when to sign his son up into a school and how school works there. and if anyone knows any schools in las vegas nevada could you give me links to there site if possible.so can anyone just explain to me please?his son was born on august 16, 2007 if this helpsthanks x

If he plans to send his child to preschool the usual age is 5 years old. To attend regular elementary public or private school it is customary to send them at age 6. In the U.S it is customary for the school district to assign the child to a school. For young children it is normally the one closest to where they live. He will need a copy of the child s birth certificate, and also need proof that the child has been vaccinated against certain childhood diseases. Have him ask a neighbor which school district he lives in, and when the time comes call their office for the specific requirements.

Preschool can be attended by 3 and 4 year olds. Kindergarten in public school starts at 5 years old. I have six little kids in my family and know this is true. PPup is right about the birth certificate and vaccinations.Papa can poke his nose into the office of any elementary school in the area and talk with a secretary who will tell him the proper school to go to.Since this guy has a 2 year old child he had better step up to the plate and start being pro-active in his child s development. In other words, ask his own questions and not rely on friends to do it for him

Where can I go ice fishing in the US? -

We re travelling from Minnesota to Colorado and back up through Illinois and Wisconsin in January. I m guessing it ll be cold enough but is there anywhere we can do it?If you post a link to a site then you ll get the best answer an 10 points.

Below is link to THE resource for everything ice fishing. There are message boards for all topics including state specific area. Be prepared to spend a few hours on this website. It will hook you. (pun intended)

My parents lived near Duluth Minnesota and my Dad iced fish there. I m sure anywhere in Minnesota though would be good, there s a thousand lakes all iced. Sorry I didn t post you a site, but do a search and you ll find plenty.

Depending on how cold the winter gets, they often have ice fishing on Georgetown lake in Colorado. Contact the Ranger station for info on winter ice fishing conditions (303)655-1495. http://www.kansasangler.com/coreport.htm
