What is that airplane at Mineta San Jose International Airport that says San Jose State University on it? -

When I was driving by Mineta San Jose Int l, I saw an airplane that said San Jose State University on it. The airplane looked kind of like a 727. Then I noticed that it didn t have any engines. I know that airplane is owned SJSU, but it was old and what was/is doing at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport. Do they still fly that plane? What do they use the plane for?

I laughed at tom c s answer. No wings and no engines and he thinks the Spartan sports teams use it to fly to away games The San Jose State Department of Aeronautics uses it as a kind of lab or classroom to learn about aircraft control systems and avionics. It does not fly, taxi or move in any way. It was either bought or donated many, many years ago.

It is charter plane, still flying for athletes
