Is there any moving businesses that would take my things from New Mexico to New York? -

i want to move back to New York but i cant take all my furniture and things on the plane with me lol so i was wondering if there is someone who knows of a place that can ship them or have them driven back to NY. i tried Uhaul but no luck.

You can try North American or Allied Van Lines. They both do cross-country moves anywhere in the country.Good luckNative New Yorker

With UHaul, you drive the truck.Any moving company will be pleased to load and haul for you. Look on-line or in the phone book under Moving. Do not move what you do not need or want to keep as it is by the pound and cubic foot!

There are several companies who move people as their main business. One word of warning: use one of the well-known companies. A lot of people try to save money with an unknown company and never see their stuff again. Some of the well-known names are:Mayflower United Van LinesNorth American Van Lines

Why are there so many cities in the US? -

It seems any town with over 5,000 people living there seems to be classed as a city. What classes a town a city in America? And why are there so many?

I believe the classification varies from state to state. You could have a place of 500,000 people in one state but it would be called a town , then in another state you could have a place of 1,000 people and it would be called a city .So it depends on the legislation of each state, and also people s general perception of a city .

thats not a city. a city is a population of at least 100,000 by the census. im not sure how the other municipalities or whatever are classified though. there are so many cities because so many people live there !

What is better in Las Vegas, the rat pack show at the Sahara or at the Plaza? -

I m going with 15 of my family members to Vegas in 10 days!!!! and I really want to see a Rat Pack Show- I only saw the one at the Plaza until I looked today and saw there is one at the Sahara. Which is better?

The Rat Pack show at the Plaza is the original and is still the best. But that can all change in the future. But for now, The Plaza Rat Pack is the way to go. The one at the Plaza now has a showroom dinner that they offer as well.

The son of Buddy Hacket was formerly with the Rat Pack at the Plaza, and he just left to form his own group at the Sahara. They are in litigation (see article).------------The Sahara show just began on 19 November. I think there are very few people who have been to both shows. Sahara is a nicer casino than The Plaza, and it is on the strip. If I was staying on the strip I would head that way.------------The lowest price hotels in downtown Las Vegas have simply had their room rates drop through the floor. Binion s, Las Vegas club, and The Plaza are often selling rooms for $20 midweek, and sometimes lower. Binion s was the first to close their hotel this week. They are keeping the casino open, and their hotel across the walkway at four queen s is open. --------------I think that The Plaza or Las Vegas club will probably do the same thing. They are both operated by the same person, so they may just close one of them.

I actually know people in both shows....but my other friends know them better and will have better feedback from having seen/knowing them all even better...so, after the event I m going to tonight (where I ll see most of them) I ll pass on their feedback for you. If they ve got any bargain deals for your group I ll let you know that too...Also, you may want to consider Jersey Boys ...it s a favorite amongst locals and visitors...much more so than the rat pack show(s). Wayne Newton s show is currently in/out at the Tropicana...but it s more of a tribute to him and his past...his voice is basically totally shot (I was at the opening nite of the show, and I m a fan of the legend , but you shouldn t see the show if you re not a fan paying tribute to the legend.)

Has anyone moved from ny to florida after being in ny all their lives.? -

We have the oppurtunity to relocate to florida with our 2 teenage kids for possible new job just want to know if making correct move lots of not sures.

I just recently moved to FL after living in MI for 13 years, and my life down here is definitely different. I m probably not too much older than your kids, so I can understand your concern for them. It can be tough making new friends, I ve been here for about a month and I don t really know a ton of people, but it s ever improving. I don t know how the economy is doing in NY, but there are jobs to be had down here (obviously you have the one you re considering moving for, but when your kids get out of HS, depending on how far off that is it could be nice for them). It s definitely going to be a major adjustment temperature-wise here, it was in the 80s and very humid today. Best to move in the winter though so there is time to adjust. Good luck in coming to a good decision for your family!

First time New-Yorkers? -

Like my many other questions, this one deals with my upcoming trip to NYC. My husband and I are vacationing between 12/24 - 12/28 for our one year anniversary. How are things going to be on Christmas Eve and Day? Will all of the stores be closed for the holidays? Any suggestions for things that we can do on those days? Also, we want to take the Staten Island Ferry...however, i know we have to get off in order to re-board. Should we walk around Staten Island for a few hours? Any suggestions on what to do there?Happy Holidays!

While lots of things will be closed on Christmas and New Years, lots will be open as well. It s kind of hit or miss, but most places do close for those days (those are major holidays after all!)But the truth is, you can have fun in NYC just walking around Manhattan. You don t need things to be open to have a great time in NYC!As for the ferry, the truth is, there is nothing within a close walk of the ferry that is interesting to see. There are many interesting things to see on Staten Island, but you d have to take a bus, train or cab from the ferry. If you feel like doing that, you might head to the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, though it s a much nicer place to visit in warm weather! (They have lovely gardens there!)I really would advise getting off and getting right back on at this time of year, to be honest.

i think u would be better off to schedule an appointment with a travel agent once you arrive in NYC. for a small fee (usually around $200) they can create an itinerary for you, that way your entire trip will be spent doing and seeing things, and the only time u will have to spend at the hotel will be 8 hours a night for sleeping, then you will get right up early in the AM and be ready to go see the sights! u seriously do NOT want to spend any time hardly at ur hotel.....go see the neat things and places!

The stores will be closed. So u might want to go the day before or after. This link can help u:http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g60763And the Staten Island Ferry will be fun! Good luck!

Store will be close on Christmas day, therefore, if have any shopping plans you might want to do them on the day after. In regards to things to do in the Big Apple on Christmas Day, Rocekefeller Center will be open and the tree will be lit all day, so you can skate at there. Most museum and landmarks will be closes, I believe the Empire State will be open for a half day, but that about it.In regards to Staten Island. The borough is quiet on Chirstmas Day, but still you can take a nice walk through for a few hours. There are several place on the Island that I would recommend.-Alice Austen House (one of the first professional women photographers, many of her prints are on display, and her home had an absolutely unbelievable view of the harbor)-Snug Harbor (nation s first and only home for retired mariner, its now a museum complex)-Conference House (scene of the only Peace Conference during the Revolution, Lord Howe versus John Adams and Ben Franklin)-Staten Island ZooI hope this information is very helpful.Good luck and Merry Christmas

What are the best places to go in NYC during christmas time? -

A visit to New York City during Christmas time would not be a trip to New York City during Christmas time without a trip to Rockefeller center to visit the big tree. You most likely will be missing the lightning, as it is on the second of December, but between then and January seventh, the tree will be up, so I strongly suggest going out there to check out the tree. Rockefeller is between 47th and 50th Streets and 5th and 7th Avenues. I would also suggest seeing the Nutcracker , which is a Christmas-themed ballet. It s a magical performance, and it s a fun family ballet, and I would suggest that as well. Also check out SoHo and Canal Street for some fantastic shopping. There are some great miscellaneous items you can find around there, and there is almost everything that you could want and need for the holidays. the Nutcracker ballet information:http://www.nutcrackerballet.net/ Top 10 Things To Do in NYC For The Christmas Holiday http://travelingmamas.com/2008/12/02/top Things to do in New York City at Christmastime http://www.onboardnewyorktours.com/chris How to Enjoy Christmas in New York http://www.associatedcontent.com/articleAll the best ?

Anywhere really, New York is amazing during Christmas. There are all the Broadway shows like A Christmas Carol . You can also see The Rocketts at Radio City Music Hall or The Nutcracker other christmas shows. You should definitely go to the Rockefeller center to see this huge Christmas tree they decorate and light up. There are also the amazing window displays at Macy s and Sak s Fifth Avenue. Then you could just take a walk around New York, anywhere you go there s going to be some sort of Christmas decor. If you stay around until New Year s Eve you could even catch the ball drop in Times Square.

Anywhere in New York City is amazing! You d have to visit time square of course, there s lots of lights and decorations, it s really pretty (: and then central park as well, especially with snow! You can walk along Sax Fifth Avenue too, and go shopping there, it s really Christmassy !The Rockefeller plaza is decorated reaallly nicely during Christmastime too ! (: Just make sure to walk around and get the whole experience (:

Christmas-time is actually the most popular time to visit NYC. The place to be is Rockefeller Plaza-ice skating and music performances. The shopping on 5th Ave is wonderful. Central Park is breath-taking and you can ice skate there as well. Their rink is huge! There s a lot of shopping downtown and as well as times square. The streets are decorated and its just beautiful. Take lots of pictures!

Musts:-Check out the store window displays at Macy s on 34th and 7th. They are awesome every year.- Rockefeller Center has the huge lit up Christmas tree and ice skating. Great lights.- Central Park- Union Square has a Christmas market in the park. You can pick up some amazing gifts.

times square, they sellwatermelonandfriedchicken....you will love it...

macys, although its busy as f*ck....

Where would you live if you went to the university of Pennsylvania? -

I cant live on the campus because I want to live with someone that wont be going to the university. Tell me a safe neighborhood, white friendly, where I can get a safe bus to the university...

Like the Penn Student told you, University City has great places for students to live. And the City and University Police do a good job of keeping people safe there. Just don t stray too far from University City . The nearby neighborhood known as the bottom around 40 Lancaster, is one of the most dangerous in the city (16th Police District). But, on the whole Philadelphia is as safe as any other big city. If you don t deal drugs or hang out with thugs, you will be fine there. Philadelphia has great public transportation.

I attend the University of Pennsylvania which is between 34th 36th of spruce and market streets. It s called University City and they have many apartments and condos in the area. I commute since I live in the city and public transportation is very easy. University City is surrounded by west philly which isnt the greatest section of philadelphia but the area in which the school is in- is very nice. There s people around all the time and its a really nice play to live and be around.

There s plenty of good choices around University City (Penn, Drexel, Univ of Sciences). There are also some good choices in South Philadelphia. If you are near Broad Street, the subway line is VERY convenient to Penn. I did my Master s there and I live in South Philly. You get a LOT more for your money in the South Philly neighborhoods. For example, Passyunk Square is 1 mile to downtown, 3 miles to Penn. The area has a supermarket, cafes, bars, restaurants, parks, shops, etc.

well UofP is in west philly, so it s kind of hard to find an area around there where you could find a safe neighborhood and get a safe bus (there aren t any in philly)..i think your best bet would be to look in philadelphia suburbs, like delaware county..http://www.apartments.com/Pennsylvania/Pbest of luck to you!

South philly would be my #1 choice. Rent isnt too high and everything is really close. Being near a bus or subway makes it that much better. Plus, there are a ton of different people down there if you like variety. It can look kind of crappy and in some places it is. But ive lived there and havent found nicer neighbors or strangers anywhere else in philly..

Stay where u are and learn to love

Missed Tolls in Oklahoma (Travelling from IL to TX)? -

Hi,I was travelling from IL to TX a few days ago and missed what I believe were 2 tolls in OK.The first one I didn t have change, I went into the cash lane, but it said No attendant on duty right now, pay the coin machine . Is it my fault if there was no attendant and I didn t have exact cash, and obviously didn t have the state s autopass equivalent because im not from the state? They should have put up a no attendant sign that was visible before I entered the toll lane. I had to just go through, and it made some loud siren sounds. Its not my fault, but im willing to pay it anyway. Will they just mail me?I also believe I went through a toll plaza without knowing it was a toll plaza, so theres likely a missed toll there too (also in OK)Cheers

yes you will get a bill in the mail it will be 4 times the toll so if the toll is 5 dollars it will be 20 dollars good luck

You should call the Oklahoma Transportation Authority and tell them the situation, and ask how you can take care of it. If you don t, when you get in the mail will likely be two $90 fines for failure to pay the toll.Liberty: It s quite conceivable to miss paying twice, since that itinerary would take the questioner through at least two turnpikes (the Will Rogers and the Turner), and maybe a third (the Creek).

oopsie...would depend if they are high tech enough to have a camera which takes photo of your license plate. If so, you can expect a bill in the mail, but if not...you are off the hook.I had a rental car from O Hare to Naperville last year...accidentally missed a toll....got a bill in the mail...never paid it, never heard anything more about it either!

Since Oklohoma is a turnpike toll system (you only pay when you leave the tollway), I am not sure how you missed paying twice.

How Is The Weather In Las Vegas? -

I m Going To Las Vegas For Super Bowl Week End And Never Been There But Idk How The Weather Is There Dose It Snow N Will It Be Nice Enough For Linen Pants N A Dress Shirt Or Is It Jackets N Sweaters Usually Around Super Bowl Time? I Just Wanna Know How Should I Dress While Im There?

Vegas is the Mojave Desert so snow is rare and when it happens about every eight years does not last. Our winter weather is cold (50) when the north winds blow but you spend the majority of your time in the casino/hotel. Dress is casual especially in the sports book. Business casual for some restaurants and dressy for clubbing. Most people wear jeans and a nice top, but having a sweater or jacket helps if you get chilly inside the casino.

Answer to 75% of all Yahoo Vegas Questions:-What is the Best Vegas Hotel Casino? The fact there is not a best ; it depends upon what you are looking for. Most hotels on the strip have great rooms. If you are trying to impress someone it depends on their tastes.-What is the cheapest Vegas Hotel Casino? It depends more on the time of the week, month and year then any other factor. try googling compare travel sites -How much does it cost to go to Vegas? Depends upon you more than anything else. If you gamble, how much do you want to lose. Restaurants range from Burger King budgets to $200 per person; your choice. There is lots to do without spending much at all: look at vegasnature.com-Do you need to be 21? Give me a break; dont be stupid. -What is the weather in vegas? Do you know how to use the internet? google weather vegas

You will need a jacket and sweater. It does get cold here even though the sun shines just about every day.

it should be cool in the 60s day30s night
