Are there alot of black people in Atlanta,Georgia? -

The last statistic I heard, was that Atlanta was 60% black. I think this city is a good mix of ethnicities and cultures.

i live 15 min out side of the city of atlanta and yes theirs alot of black people, i think more black that any other race... theirs a good mix of people here... white, mexican, native american, chinese, brazilian people... I like it here....

The City of Atlanta s population is approximately 2/3 s Black, and has been since the 1972 census.

By a lot, do you mean more than two? Yes there are a lot of black folks in Atlanta. Where you have a lot of black folks you also have some good food so eat up if you come here.

Are you serious? Black people are the dominant race in Atlanta. That s who run the city of Atlanta.

How far would this get if someone asked if there were a lot of white people in Atlanta, Georgia?Yeah...And to what point does this make?

Atlanta is a Chocolate city.

Does the fat lady sing?

a ton

Yes, 56% of Atlanta is black

There are people everywhere.....duhhhhhh!

that is a mean question

lmfao

Is there any manual labor or any way i can do work to get payed? san mateo, california? -

Is there any manual labor or any way i can do work to get payed?because i need money for Christmas :)

The fast way is to post an ad for your services to Craigslist South Bay GIGS Labor detailing exactly what kind of labor you can do and whether you have a truck to move things. I know you ll get jobs like that.

Advertise your labor on a sheet of paper and repeat your phone number many times (so interested persons can tear it off) and post it on a laundromat bulletin board??Describe briefly what you can do. I ve seen that in laundromats here in SF. You can offer your labor to help in moving but try and make sure they are nice people and won t stiff you.

What is Des Moines Iowa like overall? -

Wondering about the crime in Des Moines? Are there certain areas or side of the town that is bad? It is a liberal town? Job outlook overall? Are any suburbs of it safer/cheaper or is Des Moines itself the best choice? Thanks

I live near Des Moines. Like any city there are the poor, higher crime areas and the nicer wealthy areas. Iowa in general is not terribly liberal. Most people are going to be moderate conservative Christians. But, people are also pretty polite and aren t going to bother you much if you think otherwise. The suburbs are where the nicer homes are, if you go waaaay out into the country there are even some really high end mansions. The worst crime in those parts of town is burglary. You probably won t meet with violence unless you are into drugs. It s a growing city, so for some industries the job outlook is pretty good. It depends what you are looking for.

I lived there for two years. It is cold in the Winter, hot in the Summer and boring all year round. It is a pretty nice city besides the boring part. It has a fairly low crime rate and unemployment rate and a low cost of living, but wages are not as high as bigger cities on the east and West Coasts. It would be easier to give you an answer if you gave us an idea about where you are now. Big city, medium city small town and geographical location. Also do you like corn? Because there are actual corn fields within the city limits of Des Moines......I am not kidding! It is a nice city, just not that exciting.

What to bring on a long bus ride?!?!?!?!? -

im in 7th grade and im making a list for what to do on this 10 hour bus ride to quebec...its for all the people who take french in my grade so i will be with my friends to.....so LIST some things i should bring in including like tissues and food and stuff! thanks you so much!

10 hours isn t too bad. Bring a couple of good magazines, or books, or laptop. Maybe a word puzzle. But you will probably be busy having to make small talk with the rest of the tards in your class ALL THE WAY THERE.

10 hr bus ride...You would most likely be taking a coach. I went on a 4 hour bus ride in grade 8 and they played a movie. You should find out if they re playing movies on the bus. Take sandwiches (at least 3) and a lot of drinks. An Ipod would be good to take for sure. If you leave early in the morning (which I think you would) try to get some sleep on the bus. Not everyone can sleep in a moving vehicle. You should take a magazine or two. Take tissues for sure. Talk to friends a lot too.I m signed up to go on a trip to NYC and it s a 13 hr trip from where I live (in Canada). From what I know at this point, no friends of mine are going. So you have that on your side.

10 hours!!!goodluck!!!!so cool how your in the 7th grade going to these kind of trips. anyway bring MUSIC!, laptop(if u have one), books u like to read, lots of water and food, cell phone, snuggie, and a pillow. honestly time will probably fly since you are most likely to talk to your friends or perhaps fall asleep.have fun and be safe =]

Tissues, hand sanitizer, food, water bottels, sweat shirt, pillow and something to keep u busy like and i pod, mp3 a lap top i(f u can) nintendo or ps3 or something. Have fun!

Interstate trivia, blue stripes on fence? -

i live in Indiana, and when i m going down the interstate, i always see these blue strips on the fence. some are horizontal and some are vertical and some times both together. i have asked several people and no one knows. thanks if you can help

I don t think it has anything to do with the interstate...so you might want to talk to a farmer as most of the fences along the interstate belong to them.

What are the roughest places of Atlanta? -

I am going to visit there. I need to know.

For the most part, just stay North of I-20 and East of the Georgia Dome and you ll do fine. Just as mentioned previously, don t walk alone on the streets, or even as a couple, at night...take a cab, it s worth the price.

Please do the research and don t go off what people are saying because you can be mislead that way. Below is a site that will allow you to look at the rates yourself. There are crime pockets all around the city as there are in any large metropolitan area. Like one of the previous post.. keep on your toes, stay off darkly lit side streets and you ll be ok. When you pull up the link below, the light areas have more crime and if you hover over the spots, you will see the name of the location. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ga/atlanta/crime/Here are the 10 highest areas around Atlanta with the highest crime rates in 2008 as per the AJC. Source link below. 4 of these areas are north, 5 are south and of course one is Atlanta proper.1. Whenever I mention College Park to people, everyone squirms and frowns. I ve learned that the area has the highest rate of crime of all Atlanta cities. The area along Joseph Lowery Blvd near the city and HBCU s is also a nightmare of destitution, drug use and prostitution; Zombie Land.

Parts of the West End is rough, for example, near the Atlanta University Center (west side)South Atlanta, particularly the Cleveland Avenue and Jonesboro Road sections are areas to avoid. Some parts of College Park like off Camp Creek Pkwy are shady.

Anywhere south of the GA dome is not the best place to be. Southwest Atlanta, then parts around the airport like the above person mentioned, College Park. Really just keep your toes up all around the town, and you should be alright.

As long as you stick to the more commonly used roads you should be fine. Don t go down any little side streets--that s where you usually see a lot of sketchy characters loitering. Oh, and don t go down Boulevard.

I would stay away from College Park, East Point, Hapeville, stay away from Jonesboro Road, Hollywood Road

Stay away from Memorial Drive.

I live in philadelphia and have a back peco bill in my name from 7yrs ago. I can get the bill in my name.? -

because I have to pay it off. I dont have the money to. So is there any place that would help me?

?????? If your question is how to getr the bill in your name, then go to the Peco HQ at 23rd Market st. with your bill your lease or property deed. As for paying it? Look into applying for a LIHEAP grant. A fed program that will pay up to $800 in Winter heating costs. The forms are at the office. PECO also has a CAP rate program to pay bills based on your income.

How much would a taxi be from NYC penn station to a place between Madison Ave and E 105th Street? -

A cab will be fairly expensive, so I would recommend the subway, BUT, if you re carrying luggage and heavy suitcases, then take the taxi, because the subway will require you to go up and down MANY flights of stairs, and the subway cars and passages are rather cramped and narrow, too, and NYers are famous for their impatience with tourists with luggage, so, in that case, definitely take a taxi... you ll thank me later! ;-) Good luck!

It will cost roughly $15 to get you from Penn Station to Madison Avenue and 105 Street. A cheaper alternative is taking the subway. From Penn Station, you can take the uptown (northbound) #1, 2, or 3 subway lines (Red Line on the subway map) to Time Square, where a transfer can be made to the 42nd Street Shuttle (Black Line) to Grand Central.Transfer at Grand Central for the uptown (northbound) #6 train (Green Line on the subway map), which will take you from there to 103rd Street. At 103rd Street, exit the subway and follow the walking direction at the link below.http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d source=sThe fare on the subway is $2.25 each way ($4.50 round trip).I hope this information is very helpful.Good luckNative New Yorker

screw the taxi...just take the subway!

Is there something interesting to do in Boston in the thanksgiving? -

i will be there in boston on thanksgiving day, any suggestions ?

Several Trolley Tour companies offer a narrated sightseeing tour of Boston. Or, you can walk the Freedom Trail to view these sites and take photographs, (the only historic site open is the U.S.S. Constitution from 9:30-3:50). The Freedom Trail begins at the Information Center on Boston Common (The Center is closed on Christmas Day.) Follow the red line on the side walk - connecting the 16 sites. The Freedom Trail is 2 1/2 miles long and takes about 3 hours to walk it. The Trail ends at the U.S.S. Constitution in the Charlestown NavyYard. Another suggestion is to take a stroll along beautiful Newbury Street and also along historic Commonwealth Ave. starting at the corners of Arlington St. and Newbury St. at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Newbury Street has been called The Rodeo Drive of Boston. Walking Along Newbury St. is great for window shopping along the many unique shops and galleries found along this street. (Note each of the streets are in alphabetical order and each one is named after Dukes of England.) Follow Newbury St. to Massachusetts Ave. and take a right and another right onto Commonwealth Ave. While strolling along take note of the diverse architecture of each of the buildings which were all private residences at the turn of the century, most are now apartments buildings or condominiums. Commonwealth Ave. can be compared to a Parisian Boulevard with an interesting Mall down the middle.Another suggestion is to go Ice Skating at the Frog Pond on the Boston Common. Closed on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Skate rentals are available. Check out the beautiful lights display on the Common. Beacon Hill is nearby and it is a wonderful neighborhood to stroll around ( especially Louisburg Sq. and Acorn St.) Look at the beautiful Christmas decorations in these Victorian Townhouses. To see some wonderful Christmas Trees and Decorations: check out The Boston Common; Faneuil Hall Market Place; Downtown Crossing; Charles Hotel at Harvard Square, Cambridge. Of course Movies are always a popular holiday activity. Check out this year s holiday flicks and top releases with our complete listing of Boston area movie locationsFor those interested in the visiting Plymouth on Thanksgiving Day, you can see the annual Pilgrim Procession (10AM on North St.) and experience the Thanksgiving festivities at Plimoth Plantation

If you can make it to Plymouth, the Native Americans will be observing the National Day of Mourning. [from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Da UNAINE continues leading the National Day of Mourning protest in Plymouth. The son of the founder, Mr. James, participates as well. The more recent protests have been held on Cole s Hill and a location overlooking Plymouth Rock. The organizers have been joined by other minority activists in protest as well. Typically several hundred protesters appear. The protest general begins at 12:00 noon on Thanksgiving Day with a march through the historic district of Plymouth. All are welcome, but the UNAINE remind participants that this is a day when only the Native people speak about their history and struggles, including contemporary ones. Speakers are by invitation only, so they enforce their own point of view. Following the march and the speeches, they have a social time. Guests are asked to bring non-alcoholic beverages, desserts, fresh fruits and vegetables, or pre-cooked items. .

It s not too far from Plymouth, MA. Go see the Mayflower and the Plymouth Plantation. Also, the New England Aquarium and the Boston Museum of Science is also interesting if you are into that kind of stuff.

What neighborhoods in the Bronx, NY are bad or dangerous? -

Tell me some or all that are dangerous or not safe? Is Bronxdale in the Bronx a bad area?I m not planning to live there, only work. I have gotten a job interview.

The Bronx is not as bad as it use to be in the 80s, with the exception of certain neighborhoods. Bronxdale is located in the northern section of the Bronx. The area is actually part of the Allerton section of the Bronx, which comprises of Bronxdale, Laconia and OlinvilleGood luck

What would you suggest I do in NYC during the holiday seasons? -

A visit to New York City during Christmas time would not be a trip to New York City during Christmas time without a trip to Rockefeller center to visit the big tree. You most likely will be missing the lightning, as it is on the second of December, but between then and January seventh, the tree will be up, so I strongly suggest going out there to check out the tree. Rockefeller is between 47th and 50th Streets and 5th and 7th Avenues. I would also suggest seeing the Nutcracker , which is a Christmas-themed ballet. It s a magical performance, and it s a fun family ballet, and I would suggest that as well. Also check out SoHo and Canal Street for some fantastic shopping. There are some great miscellaneous items you can find around there, and there is almost everything that you could want and need for the holidays. the Nutcracker ballet information:http://www.nutcrackerballet.net/ Top 10 Things To Do in NYC For The Christmas Holiday http://travelingmamas.com/2008/12/02/top Things to do in New York City at Christmastime http://www.onboardnewyorktours.com/chris How to Enjoy Christmas in New York http://www.associatedcontent.com/articleAll the best ?
