I am thinking of moving to Denver, CO area from CA. I need a great school system, and affordable.. any advic? -

What things are to do in Denver what Activities? I would love to talk with someone from Denver area to get an idea of what towns around Denver are like. We prefer not to live in a huge city.. so something outside and close to Denver would be great, but we do need to be located in a great school system yet affordable, and a great place to raise kids. We would probably rent for a year when we arrive. Any opinions, links or advice?!

check out Lakewood, Arvada, or Littleton. These are on the west side of Denver. Of the 3, littleton has the best schools.

Castle Rock, 30 min. south of Denver Small town atmosphere. Great schools, friendly people. Voted one of the top 10 family friendly town in the US http://www.townofcastlerock.org

Centennial/Aurora, nice neighborhoods and safe. Personally I think the Cherry Creek School District is great!

I live in Elizabeth, it s a small town about an hour south east of Denver. We just got a Walmart so we re not too big. The schools are fairly good, some teachers should be fired but most of them are 10-yeared. The good thing about that is that you learn to build a tolerance. I used to have a short fuse but going through school, I have definitely gotten some patience. You might think that a small town won t have drug problems, but we do. On the other hand, the kids are great! We have teachers that drive 2 hours one way just so they can teach the kids. There is nothing but good feedback for the students. Taxes here are pretty low, at least they were. Right now, they are about 8% because of all the democrats moving here. We used to be strictly conservative (with the exception of a few people). The weather here is great too, and it s a wonderful learning experience for kids. We have blizzards all the time in the fall, winter, and spring but the sun is usually out during that time. In the summer, there are tornadoes, my parents taught me about those right when one was about to land on our house. The rain, thank goodness, never lasts too long. It rains for about 30 min. tops. Nothing is too far away in Colorado. One day you can go skiing and the next you could be climbing a massive sand dune. There is so much to do here! I recomend it 100%!!!
