When I go to LA, should i visit Hollywood? -

Yes you should. Visit Hollywood and Vine. Visit Mann s Chinese to see the hand and foot prints. See the Walk of Fame . Hollywood is old and run down a bit ... but it s fun. I d visit in the daytime. Visit Griffith Observatory to get a great view of the city and Hollywood sign by day (you can t really go to the sign); if it s clear a super view of the city by night - and they have a 12 refractor telescope that s like 16 feet long (you get to use look in it for free at night before 10:00). Other things to do ... The Getty Villa Museum in Malibu. Beverly hills / Redeo Drive. Don t forget the La Brea Tar Pits. China town, Olvera Street (Peublo de Los Angeles), or Little Toyko if you don t have something like that where you live it has interesting shopping - must trashy tourist junk but some things you just can t live without. In Chinatown you can bargain ... take the third offer. ];8)If you like Zoos the LA Zoo is World Class ... but kinda old. They have had problems but it s better now. Don t forget the beach in Santa Monica (it s actually a great wide sandy beach with lots of parking near by). Manhattan Beach a little down the coast is a very nice (and now a little yuppie ) beach community - but great to visit. The Manhattan Barbershop is great if you need a haircut. In terms of food - unless your from New York you have to visit Canter s Deli on Fairfax is on of the best Jewish style deli s in the world ... well at least one of the most famous. Some great museums - the Art Museum (LACMA) on Wilshire is great...also if you can get to the Huntington Library it s well worth the trip - both can be all day events. So much to do and see in the Greater Los Angeles area!

Yeah visit Hollywood but do go day and night... Totally different!... Day time you see more tourist (lots of people taking pictures)... night time LOTS of people partying!... lots of clubs... there s a lot of meseums to go to like ripleys believe it or not... lots of shops... DO go to PINKS hot dogs... its been there for 70 years... walk down Melrose street and La Brea, Pinks hot dog is located there. DO NOT go to the LA Zoo there is no animals there... Dont go to Universal Studios!... unless you like water world , Spiderman, etc SHOWS... theres only a few rides... like maybe 5 the most... BUT do go to City Walk... Well WHATEVER you do have FUN!...

There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of must sees. Visit as many as you have time for.:Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors cant be wrong. #1 Destination. Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination.Even if you dont visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And theyre free to visit. Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood Highland complex has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater. The El Capitan theater, right across the street, is where Disney shows their movies. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors. Olvera Street/Union Station: Olvera Street is the birthplace of LA, and it emphasizes our Mexican heritage. In addition to the Avila Adobe (oldest building in LA), you can eat at some pretty good Mexican Restaurants, do a little shopping, and taste a churro. If you dont want to go to Tijuana, this is as close as it gets without going there. Union Station has great architecture from a bygone age. Also, you are 2 blocks from Phillippes (see below).Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you ll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. Santa Monica: Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach. Sunset Boulevard began as a route between the stars posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the Sunset Strip on its way.Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping The Price is Right . You might even get in.Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.Getty Museum - The Getty s architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art, architecture, or view better, the Getty is sure to please. Free.Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It s very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show. Check the NBC web site for all the details there.Places to eat:In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.Pinks Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.Tommys Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.Canters Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.Phillippes: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, its hot.Titos Tacos: Voted best tacos in LA, even though its in Culver City. The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.Places to Stay:Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Holiday Inn Walk of Fame, all near Hollywood and Highland. Another one is the Best Western Sunset Plaza. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios.Places to Shop:Third Street Promenade, Santa MonicaThe Grove, Los AngelesAmericana @ Brand, GlendaleBeverly Center, Los AngelesCitadel Outlets, CommerceBrea Mall, BreaThe Block at Orange, OrangeSouth Coast Plaza, Costa MesaFashion Island, Newport BeachSantee Alley, Los Angeles

Of course. Nothing wrong with that.

How long does it take to get from Manhattan to Brooklyn via subway? -

I was wondering which subway do I take from 42nd and 7th ave (times square) to Bay Ridge...on Bay Ridge avenue? I want one that takes me all the way there I dont want to have to stop and wait for another subway where is it located? Thank you so much!

It should not take you more than an hour.Honestly, DO NOT take the R the entire way.The R runs local its entire route, plus it has more stops between lower manhattan and downtown Brooklyn.I suggest what you do is take the N from Times Square to 59th St. in Brooklyn. The N runs express in Manhattan and through most of Brooklyn. From Times Square to 59th st, there are only 6 stops.Once you get to 59th st, you can walk down only ten blocks to Bay Ridge Avenue (which is 69th st). Those blocks are really short.Or, if you don t want to walk, you can wait for the R for one stop.If you get off the N at 59th st. or the R at Bay Ridge Ave/69h, the stops are on 4th avenue.

You can take the R train all the way without changing trains. But if you take the N train from Times Square to 59th St Brooklyn, you will save about 15 minutes. At 59th Street, you can change for the R to Bay Ridge. It normally takes about 40 to 45 minutes if you take the N and R combination during the day. About 55 minutes to an Hour if you just take the R the whole way. When you get to the subway station in Times Square, just follow the signs to the R and N lines. They re pretty easy to find. The R stops right on Bay Ridge Ave. If you need to, there s a bus on Bay Ridge Ave too. Here is a subway map you can download to your computer and it can also be enlarged and printed.http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/subwaymap0

The trip take about 80 minutes (1 hour and 20 minutes). From Times Square, take Brooklyn-bound (southbound) R train (Yellow Line on the subway map) to the end of the line at Bay Ridge-95th Street. Please note, the R train runs local all the way from Times Square to Bay Ridge.Good luckNative New Yorker

is really simple!! just take the downtown N train to 59st brooklyn get off there and then wait for the 95th st-bound R train in the same place u get off the N the R TRAIN will pass ,take the R and get off at BAY RIDGE AVE is the next stop..the trip is 52min..if u don t wanna wait for another subway u can walk from 59st to bay ridge ave..

you need the r train

The tour is longer just over an hr and we skip you past the line to go to the top of Rockefeller Plaza. The combo ticket is about 31$ and the tour alone is 15$ So you save about 10$ by doing both. There are also lots of other combo ticket packages available.. with MOMA and other travel companies like NYC Pass. You can get more information on the top of the rock website and buy your tickets online.**It is an outdoor tour so go on a nice sunny day!

Moving to NYC with my dog? -

Ok, here`s the thing. I am 15 years old and after I finish college I plan on moving to New York City. I know I sound like a stupid kid but you have to understand that is just not the case. My parents are well aware of my plans and completely support me. I have been to the city about four or five time, one of those visits being the day of the 2003 black-out. My family and I were stuck on a subway for hours and when we got out we had to spend the night hiding in a hotel work out room. I have saved about $600 and I know that that isn`t even enough to pay for half a months rent. My real question is, NYC an ok place to have a small dog. I have a yorkie and where ever I decide to live she will come with me. She is an inside dog most of the time. She is trained to something called a potty patch and is not a big barker. My biggest fear is that while I am at work some one will break in and hurt her in an attemp to rob me. If anyone has a story to share about moving to NYC with their dog please share. Thanx!

Are you serious, you really think that someone would break in to rob you and hurt your dog. Do you think that things is like an everyday thing in NY, were you planning on getting you apt broking into. Why would you want to move to NY if you think that your so likely to be robbed. That would be the last thing i would worry about with the dog in the city. You really can tell your a kid.

If you are afraid of New York City perhaps you should not live there. It sounds as if your family cannot afford to live there. Everyone in Manhattan has dogs or cats and they live in the apartment with them. No one is going to steal her. Your fears are really too intense and it isnt that bad. Make sure she has a coat in the cold weather because Yorkies are tiny and shake in the cold weather. Don t worry. She will be fine inside your apartment when you are at school. I had 2 or 3 dogs in a small apartment and it was fine. I lived on the Upper West side near Central Park. There is a dog park where she can be off-leash. Otherwise, there is a leash law on the streets and you have to pick up the poop.

Do you need a passport to fly to hawaii? -

From where? Hawaii is one of the 50 states. If you are a US citizen and fly there by any route, you don t need a passport. If you are not a US citizen, then you need a passport.

Hawaii is a US State so if you are flying from another US state to Hawaii you do not need a passport, you do need a Photo ID. If you are flying to Hawaii from another country then yes you do need a passport.ETA: The passport is required when traveling between Canada, US, Mexico and the Caribbean via the air and has been in place since 2007. This June the law came in where you need a Passport, Enhanced DL or NEXUS card via LAND or SEA between the locations. As Hawaii is still a US State and has been since the 1950s a passport is not required.

You don t need a passport

No. I believe your friend is pulling one over on you. Hawaii is one of the fifty states. Enjoy your trip!

Since you re a U.S. citizen, you don t need a passport to fly to Hawaii.

No...we are a part of the United States so no.

last time i looked hawaii was still a US state

Galveston, Texassssss? -

What is it like? Fun, rainy, boring? I heard its always raining. Any experience from the place tell me, Im going there

If you ever wondered where all the trash/medical waste, etc washes up first in the gulf and wanted to see it and smell it first hand then go straight to Galveston.I live in Houston and have gone several times over the years but it still is as bad as ever.I suppose it was great way back in the 1800s but not anymore. If you get tired of the beach(all 5 yards of it) then you can experience the slums and crackheads throughout the city as well.

its ok, the weather is always nice during spring and summer. Its always rainy during fall season.

Which is better, vegas or paris? -

which is better for vacation and relaxation, las vegas or paris? does it snow in vegas? or does it in paris? or neither both?

Really, the two cities don t compare. I ve been to both, and love them both, but they are nothing alike. I wouldn t consider either to be a relaxing vacation either. There are lots of sights to see in both places, and we were always busy and on the run.It does snow in Paris, rarely in Vegas. If I had to pick between them, I would say Paris. It s a beautiful city, with a lot of history. But if you want to drink, party, see some shows, etc., then Vegas is your place. But if I wanted to relax, I would choose a cruise or Caribbean destination.

The chances are slim to zero for snow in Vegas. A light dusting happens about every eight years and that happened last winter.I would select Vegas to support the US economy! Plus Vegas is a 24/7 365 adult kind of town

Omg.. I have never been to Paris and will still say Paris lol... it snows there... and it doesn t snow often in Vegas but last it snowed for the first time in a long time so you never know! Where do you live? Price can change things

Let s put it this way - there are no Siegfried and Roy in Paris, now are there? Vegas!

PARIS

Why not try Paris in Las Vegas http://hubpages.com/hub/Paris-Las-Vegas

What a ridiculous question. Could you possibly pick two cities that are more different?

vegas, it smells better and is better there! keep your money in this country. we need it.

First Trip To Walt Disney World? -

Hi, I am planning my first ever trip trip WDW!!!!!! I purchased a book called The Unofficial Guide To WDW 2010 and it had lots of inf. However, I Still have a few questions.1. Is the Magic Your Way Plus Dining a good idea/deal with a group of 4, with 2 adults and 2 teenagers?2. Is WDW worth the $?3.Is a family suite in the ll-Star Music Value Resort nice? THANKS!

I live in FL and we go a lot! I went a lot before we moved here also! First off go to Mouse Savers.com you will get all the info you can imagine there! Also FOR SURE DO THE DINING PLAN!!! We purchased it for our family. 4 of us and in 2 days it already paid for itself! We also used to dinner points and did a dinner show which that was so worth it. I tell everyone I know to get the dining plan! WDW is so much fun! Our boys liked MGM more. with the tower of terror and the power rangers, woody and buzz. We didn t or have we ever went to Animal Kingdom. I heard it s not that great and the 20 some times we have been we still have never went! Focus more time on MK and MGM. Epcot takes a couple days to do. Make sure you stay for the fireworks! We made the mistake and crammed Epcot into one day for us and went to every country! It was fun but hectic! We had our boys make a mask and got it stamped at every country! At the end of the day for the fireworks we were about to fall over and sleep! After it was done we could barely walk!! If you go do it in two days one half one day with fireworks and the other day the other half with fireworks! DO NOT MISS the fireworks! they are 100% better than Magic Kingdom! have fun! check out the site I mentioned! It gives you lots of tips! I stay at The Wilderness Lodge. LOVE IT! never stayed at the value resorts. all I know is the value resorts are pretty far away, and I said to my Hubby. after a long day at the park of MK. Thank God we are staying so close, I couldn t make it to the value resorts! They really do sit way off from the parks. But you don t spend any time in them so it really does not matter. We stayed so close b/c our son was pretty young and I would stay and sleep in with him while my Hubby took our other son to MK. When we got up and around and took the boat over I would call him on the walkie talkie and meet up with him! and it was close for me to leave early with him and nap while my hubby and older son stayed at the park!

Yes, of course WDW is worth the money! A Walt Disney World vacation is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. There is so much to do as well, so the Dining plan is a good Idea. I am only 14, but I have been to Disney 18 times, and I am going again in about 2-3 weeks. I have always enjoyed going, and speaking from a teens point of view, everybody will love it. There is something for everyone at Disney, as it doesn t matter what you like. It is a very good idea to stay on Property as well! I have never stayed where you are thinking of, but I know that all of the resort rooms are very nice. I have stayed at quite a few at that! The Unofficial Guide will help you a lot, as I know it has always helped my family as we planned our vacations. Since you have teens comeing with you on your trip, depending on when you go, be sure to get homework in advance to your trip. I am a Freshman in High School this year, and I know that it is very hard work to get all of my homework done on vacation, getting it ahead of time helps a lot. Most of all, don t forget the sunscreen, a sweatshirt (for at night), and have a great and magical time at WDW!~EE~

The All Star hotels are nice. They are just a little smaller than the more expensive rooms and they come with the same amenities except for a pool side bar.I think the place is worth the money, it s non stop entertainment. And I never used the meal plan so I don t know what kind of value it is.

We ve been to WDW 13 times. Our daughter was 4 when we first went. She s 17 now. We ve stayed at all of the All Stars, Pop Century, before we became Disney Vacation Club Members. Since then, we ve stayed at the Beach Club, Saratoga Springs, Kidani Village. We enjoyed staying at the All Star Music, Movies. The All Star Sports usually gets a little noisy, because people who like sports tend to stay there, and play sports until really late. The Pop Century is newer has it s own bus. The All Stars share a bus, so it takes a little longer to get around. Their food court has some better food too. I love the vegetable lasagne. We ve tried the dining plan, it was great. It really depends on your family. You can dine at some fancy places, you get a lot of food. Since, we are DVC members, we can take the leftovers, since we have a kitchen, otherwise a lot of food can go to waste. Yes, WDW is definitely worth the money. It s a fabulous place, that s why we ve been there so often. If your teens are over 16, you could do some tours; like: the Keys to the Kingdom Tour Around the World at Epcot (Segway Tour-we enjoyed this so much, we did it twice). You can go to the Disney website get a free DVD to plan your trip a personalized map. Plan as much as you can ahead of time, get Fastpasses (free), to save time. Don t forget the sunscreen light rain jackets. You can buy a mug at the food court that you can refill for free throughout your stay. We save money by bringing pop tarts, english muffins, mini muffins for breakfast. They have toasters microwaves in the food court. We bring snacks to take to the parks, water bottles you can fill at the drink station. Make dining reservation as soon as you can. They fill up fast. You can do this online now. If you re dining at another resort, using Disney transportation, allow extra time, since you ll have to change buses at the Transportation Ticket Center. Have Fun!
