Whats the best building to be in at the Disney Coronado Springs resort? -
Is Seattle really depressing? -
I ve lived here for nearly 15 years now, and have to say that my experiences have been different than those already posted here.I ve lost my wallet twice and have had it returned both times fully intact - cash and everything. I ve had strangers offer to help me carry items to the car when my hands were full with an infant. I ve had my daughter sell GS cookies in front of stores and banks (with a fantastic reception), and have had kids knock on my door selling items.I ve helped people put chains on their cars going over the mountains, helped push cars out of intersections. I ve turned my car around to check on a person who had fallen to make sure they were OK. And I have had similar offers of help to me and my family. Is this place depressing? If you don t make an effort to get outside in the winter, yes, it can be depressing. You have to take the approach that you ll participate in outdoor activities regardless of the weather or you ll never get outside. And an annual vacation mid-Feburary or so to a warm sunny place doesn t hurt either!
I love the weather in Seattle, it doesn t rain that much, and it s very temperate, after living in the NE it was a dream!I m not sure what to say about the other comment except that my experience in Seattle was all good, the people were great that I dealt with unless they were having a bad day, happens everywhere.
Yeah, it was for me. Some people love it, but I found it to be unbearable. From mid-October to mid-April, the cloud cover never disappeared... it got dark in the mid afternoon (sometimes earlier)... hated it.I found the people, with their failed-sarcasm, passive-aggressiveness, and self-absorption to be the cherry on top of the whole town...EDIT: I see what Prince, below, is talking about... when I first moved there, I was walking by a crowd waiting for a bus on Madison, and there was an old lady sitting on the chair part of her walker who was jittering and freaking out... she was trying to jam a Hostess cake into her mouth but then went limp and fell off the walker. She was obviously diabetic and having an insulin reaction... little old lady in her 70 s... and NO ONE BUT ME HELPED HER. At least fifty other people waiting for busses or walking by... all ages, all races, both genders, they just *stood there* watching, like huh, I wonder what her deal is? Maybe someone should call 911. I was the only person who ran to check to see if she was okay, and no one called 911 till I yelled at them to knock it off and get on their cell phones. Even still, nearly everyone stepped around her to get on their bus.I ve lived in LA, SF, NYC, and Boston, and I ve *never* seen anything like that, ever. People make NY and LA out to be these cold, impersonal cities, but Seattle takes the cake.
I m sure the weather helps to make PPL here depressed. But that s the least of their problems.WA is basically just like anywhere else, give or take but there s extremes.Few things I ve noticed..People here don t seem to have discretion, and decency about certain things.I noticed they don t help someone in need, like elderly people. They don t give to homeless or young kids that are out on the streets.I bought something at Mcdonalds for a young kid who was sitting in front of the store,And nobody even offered him ANYTHING. THATS HORRIBLE!!!!I was at safeway and a lil kid about 7-8 yrs old was trying to get a donation for school. And they all ignored him, I asked him how much he needed and he said anything, so I gave him my loose change about $4.He smiled and I felt kinda bad, that ppl were walking by him, and saying NO.How the hell can you say no to a child? what s more important that a child?at least hes trying to do something for his school.Well you have to be careful how you treat children, cause someone will treat yours the same way.Well if ppl here dont take interest in kids, no wonder theres so much young kids on drugs.and the other have severe emotional problems.I noticed that If someone drops somethings, most ppl here keep walking,If you re bag is open or something like that, they don t say anything.I was at a store today and was going buy something for 36 cents (yes, 36 cents)and I noticed i didn t have my wallet, so I told the person at the front.and she replied sorry I cant give out store merchandise Well I didnt ask for a freebie, but I guess spotting 36 cents, is too much in this economy? LOLI mean no i dont expect ppl to ust chip in, but on the east coast, regardless of what ppl say, ppl are solid and helpful. They say ppl here are nice but it depends on what your values are and where u place your morals.I m not saying ppl here are nothing, but they think theyre worth more than the really are.So that means they re insecure. So I don t do alot of retail shopping here, because I find most ppl here are jerk offs. They dont expect most ppl to pay the bill, they assume u re either a junky or misfit. And given that the situation here anyway, thats no excuse for ignorance.Since more of the population are on welfare (WA is the highest paying out welfare state)And the drug addiction that so evident and popular here... I laugh at all the pre- judging. They have no clue whatsoever here in WA. But I think its funny, and it s nice being in a sloweerrr paced place for a change.Plus Im from NYC, I have everything I want because the east coast is actually MODERN,I dont need anything else. So i couldnt care less. And guys are worse, they are not men.I always stand to let a woman occupy my seat, and here the guys don t do that.An older lady was getting on a bus, she had a pulley, And besides the driver, I was the ONLY person that helped her with it. The bus driver had to get up and help her. When she got off the bus I helped her so that the driver didnt have to. And they both thanked me.The other guys were sitting on the bus, just PEOPLE WATCHING and staring at me. And I m sure thats a compliment, but I only like real men not lazy loosers.Guy here in general are mostly trashy, they look trashy and act that way. They have no respect for others and their own state. The Women here are more accomplished and driver better cars and seem to be more stable. While guys don t pull their own weight.ppl here give more attention to dogs and nature than humans, so what does that say?Yes, its true most ppl here are introverted and non conversational but that can be a good thing. Some people have nothing to add to life, so..... i dont take anything personal. I can see why ppl here are depressed. Its my job as a human being to help ppl, and bring ppl up with me in this world. Not judge, pre-judge, and think that i m better, because thats false ego.Anything can happen to anyone, and money eventually runs out.God giveth and He taketh away.If you dont appreciate what you have it will be taken away. But im not from here, so.... :P
It really depends on the person. I was born and raised here and I ve never been depressed just because it was rainy or cold. The weather doesn t make the city and it shouldn t greatly affect your mood either.
Dinosaur @ WDW compared to Test Track @ WDW? -
Dinasour does not have any drops, but the ride does jerk you around a lot. You know how when you are on Thunder Mountain it has the jerky motion because it is a wooden rollercoaster? That is kind of how Dinasour, but as far as drops go there are not at all (not even near as bad as Pirates). You should be fineee!I highly reccomend you go on it, it s one of the best!!!Have fun, I wish I was going with ya!!
Dinosaur does have a small drop. The fastest it goes is about 5 mph but its a simulator so it does get bumpy and throws you around a lot. The drop at dinosaur is similar to the small drop you make at test track after the barrier test and it takes your picture and goes into the outdoor portion of the ride. The drop happens when a flying dinosaur is above so the vehicle you are riding drops down. Notice when the ride starts before entering to the different dino era there is a small hill you climb. Check youtube
Dinosaur does not have big drops. It is also not fast like Test Track. The vehicles have phenumatics or hydrolics or something built into the suspension. You blunder along in the dark with the suspension of the vehicle moving you up and down and crooked and every which way in order to simulate a bumpy road. So, it is kind of like a simulator ride in that they bump you around. But, instead of watching a movie while they bump you around, you drive through a real enviornment.I personally get a bit motion sick from this one.
its not a roller coaster and its nothing like test track. there are no drops and it doesn t go super fast or anything. basically you are sort of off roading you feel bumps and at some points you speed up a bit to get out of danger . its fairly dark and dinosaurs are chasing you so its intense but not the same type of intense that you would get from going down hills or accelerating.
Dinosaur does not have any big drops and does not go very fast. But, things pop out at you and it s very jerky.
